More photos of my favourite piece.
My favourite piece I created this week. Im so happy with how it came out. I love the bright colours of the life buoys and the details shown in my drypoint etchings.
One of my final pieces
These are two drypoint etchings I made to use for my final piece.
This is a woodcut print of a life buoy i didn't use in the end.
We needed to incorporate Text into our print so i decided house the phrase,”Yeah Boi,” since my brothers at hoe use it all the time. To fit it to my print concept i turned it into a play on word as, “Yeah Buoy.” I decided to make the,”O,” into a life buoy. I then typed my phrase on Word Doc. and picked a suitable font. I then opened it intoPhotoshop where i edited it to be backwards so that when printed it is readable.
We went to an Illustrator class where we learnt how to create our images and draw them as a digital file, where we then brought to the Fab Lab in Limerick. We laser cut our pieces and these are my pieces above.
For Week Three and Four of our Electives I have been in Print. We were given the brief to create a 80cm x 20cm piece using combinations of printing methods of, “Home.” This is my brief statement: “With the theme of Home for our print elective, I decided to use the fact that I live by Rosses Point beach in Sligo as my inspiration. I love the textures and colours that are associated with the beach from the grainy sand, to the slimy seaweed, to the bright life buoys and other things that I can find. I find my sense of home at the seaside.”
Above is a print of the beach in Rosses Point. I used a carved wood block and green and blue oil based ink to create the print piece. This was my first concept.
For Week One and Two of the Electives, I have been inPhotography where we were asked to create a 90 second video about a Journey. We were put into groups and my group decided to make the short film about a, “Road Trip To Space.” We were taught how to use Photoshop, Nikon DSLRs, Green-screen, Projectors and Premiere Pro. We were asked to create a PowerPoint Presentation of what we learnt over the two weeks which i have photos of above.
Final Statement
My thoughts, “Mapping, getting from one place to another. Just like a used water bottle and its process in this world when not recycled, especially in the ocean and coastal areas.”
I am using this project to raise awareness of the plastic pollution around Irelands coastal. Just as Mandy Barker has with her photographic book on found plastic objects.
For my project, I will be using Photography, Photoshop, Illustrator, print and sculpture pieces. I will also be looking at different artists for inspiration and will be taking note on them.
3D Drawing of my Driftwood sculpture idea. Made from Driftwood I create a vessel and use it as a bin, and put a plastic bag in it with plastic rubbish
I was thinking of all the chemicals that filter out of the plastic bottles that are just drifting in the ocean and how they effect the marine life.I was imagining what the effects would looks like if it was somewhat radioactive and what the beach would look like. I edited my photos on Photoshop and played around with the Hue and Saturation.
Close ups of my finished sculptor piece of the Sand Specimen. Showing plastic pollution that is regularly found on actual beaches.
Design Idea of my,“Sand Specimens,” inspired by the work of Mandy Barker
This is an illustration I created of my plaster bottles.
Update with my plaster bottles. I used blue ink to pour onto the casts. The ink drips down and follows the curved lines on the object.
These are my finished textile pieces. They represent the motion in the ocean
