No Otherkin and Therian are not generally interchangeably usable terms. While a therian can identify as otherkin, the communities have different origins, these communities developed separate from one another. Both terms were coined in different forums around the same time in the 90s. Therian being coined at alt.horror.werewolves and Otherkin at elfenkind digest.
Yes Otherkin is an all inclusive term generally for all nonhuman identites, No its not an Umbrella term for Therians.
The umbrella term is Alterhuman, where both, otherkin, and therian fall under.
Yes, a therian can call themself an otherkin if they want to, but that doesn't make both communities the same, as some people claim it to be. They are overlapping, not the same.

Am i the only one who feels like the otherkin community is being completely pushed aside by the major rise of the therian community?
I just opend a new Otherkin discord server! The intent of it is to feel like the early kin community, we have a focus on Elves, dragons, unicorns, faries, Angles, Gods and other magical/mythical beings.
I made this server because i feel like the otherkin community is slowly fading away, alterhuman spaces are dominated by therians, pushing otherkins fully aside. I want to preserve this community and offer a space for us, just us, fantastic and magical creatures.

Some transspecies art posting since y'all seemed to like my post from the other day.
(Gosh, how dare I break my theme and not use any red in this piece. I'm ashamed, but oh well.)
I find it really confusing how people still believe that transpecies is just a term to mock/hurt transgender people. Like... those two experiences are so incredibly similar to one another for most people.
Example:
You identify as something you weren't assigned as at birth due to your biology
You experience dysphoria/euphoria about your appearance
You may (wish to) change you physical body to fit your true identity
You may (wish to) have people use different terminology to refer to you
These descriptions fit both transpecies and transgender individuals. They're practically the same identity, just one dealing with gender and the other dealing with species.
"But gender is a social construct, your species is biological!"
...Okay buddy. Sure, 'species' in the sense of your literal DNA is biological, but your species identity doesn't have to match that. Same way your sex doesn't have to match your gender. It's the age old fact: identity ≠ biology.
"But you can't transition to become an animal!"
Since when do you need to medically transition to be trans? Last time I checked, I don't need a dick for you to respect my identity as a trans guy. By your own logic, I shouldn't need a tail for you to respect me as a fox. Just because you can't physically achieve a certain look does not mean your identity isn't valid. This absolutely applies to both transpecies and transgender folks.

Be aware of the discord server "Therian festive forest"
The server is a huge server with multiple thousand members, which is why I'll be discussing this a little further. It's run by a 15yo.
When i got accepted into the server i asked to talk to an adult staff member about their rule that states that you arent allowed to mention being objectum.
After a staff member created a ticket for me, i tried explaining why the rule is 1. Feeding into a harmful stereotype, and 2. Can have negative effects on objectum folk such as shame and blaming oneself for their HARMLESS attraction.
Instead of an adult, which i asked for, multiple minors started talking to me (+ one actual adult). That's also where i found out about the age of the owner.
Not only did they handle the situation incredibly immature, they also made fun of me, kept deleting messages and didnt really respond to my arguments at all. Instead they kept repeating how i can be in the server if i just hide myself and keep my mouth shut about the topic.
The issue wasn't about myself. It was the general rule that feeds into the stereotype of objectum being harmful and something bad that you shouldn't talk about.
So, instead of actually trying to solve the problem with me, they ignored most of my messages and then started bringing up trans IDs.
After i stated that u cannot compare trans ids to objectum since trans ids are infact harmful while objectum isnt they started to attack me personally for being transspecies wich i havent mentioned in the chat at all, its in my bio and they just brought it up for whatever reason.
They stated Transspecies is a transID, its invalid and disrespects transsgender people.
I tried to explain to them how transspecies literally has been a thing way longer than transIDs but again they didnt give a shit and instead told me im not valid.
I told them Transspecies is part of the Alterhuman umbrella, their response was telling me alterhumanity is strictly non physical.
Not only is this false but i also provided them a source (otherkin wiki) wich they ignored again.
I then got banned with the reasoning "claims that objectum and transspecies is valid and that alterhumanity includes physical identities"
So basically they told me i can be in the server if i dont bring up objectum in the channels but then proceed to ban me for.. being objectum?
Okay bud.
In conclusion, this server is not just anti objectum they are also anti transspecies aswell as anti physical therianthropy/nonhumanity.
I can not recommend this server to anyone who is looking for an open and welcoming community.

A paraphilic disorder describes someone with a paraphilia who experiences distress and/or is at risk of harming themself/others.
Objectum is harmless.
It can only be classified as a disorder if it causes you distress wich for the majority it doesnt

Objectum can be romantic, sexual and also platonic attraction to inanimate objects :)

i know we all love to overthink stuff but its important to remember not to lose yourself in the process. sometimes you just are, and thats okay.
