2.14.16– Damn, son. Valentine’s cake! It’s chocolate and two layers with raspberry filling. The buttercream roses are rose flavored, and there’s a marshmallow fondant underneath– I was originally planning on making all the roses out of fondant, made it up, and quickly discovered that marshmallow fondant is not the way to go. Oops. Happy Valentine’s/single awareness/soon to be discount candy day.

I’ve finally done it! A separate blog for all of my baking!

Top: banana pudding with homemade whipped cream and gluten free vanilla wafers

Bottom: chocolate, chocolate chip zucchini bread with homemade caramel sauce

Tried to cut a few calories on the bread, but added ‘em right back with the caramel. Oops.

Anyone got any GF malt substitution ideas? I want to make Tim Tams.

It's autumn officially now over here. Mixed feelings, since it means winter is on its way and winter likes to give me a hard time, but I will nevertheless celebrate this equinox with many baking. Project 1 of 3, gluten-free pumpkin cupcakes with pumpkin spice and cinnamon cream cheese frosting.

I hope I gave the joke enough time to breathe. Mine and sovietlaika ’s birthday cake, since Portal is one of our mutual favorites. A 7" round, four-layer black forest cake, as I read that the producers based said cake off of that specific type of cake they would get from a bakery they visited. Boozy and bittersweet, I am pleased with the end result, despite it being a bit tall (I don’t have the 8" round pans the recipe called for).

I was going to be slick and play around with the “cutting it and making it look like it’s going through a portal” concept, but after I stacked the layers, I realised LOL NOPE. Another time.
