Everybody learns and progresses, so it's no wonder that once you look back to your old work, you want to slap your hands above your head. This is a blog meant to take a look at the progress you made in your artistic life, and take inspiration from it. So Liam challenged me to re-draw the first One Piece fanart I ever did.

I got lazy on the ship deck because boring. Also Arlong is shirtless at Liam’s request. 8D

So this was my project to represent time for class. I took the oldest picture I could find and repainted it. Then I took one of my newest paintings and redid it in the style of the old picture. Drawing that hurt my soul I’m so sorry chanyeol.

i still have no idea what made me design these terrible outfits and these terrible characters (i hate all of my OCs a lot b/c they’re all unoriginal and dumb weh) i do remember though that i changed their personalities and bits of design and then didn’t draw them anymore 

obviously my bg drawing skills are still the same but it’s not like i tried a lot and that pattern never made sense in the first place

idk if this is the right place to post this but i don’t wanna make (another) sketchblog because i won’t update it and i will also feel bad b/c my stuff isn’t quality enough

God, the anatomy on the old one is totally an epic fail… Just look at her weird a bit sonic-ish head, ears growing out of nowhere, odd unnatural boobs, she hasn’t rib cage, and she has too wide hips… Honestly I’m happy that I’m improved in anatomy that much (but I know it’s still doesn’t perfect).

The image at the top was drawn about four or five years ago. That’s the only copy I have left, an image taken of the original with a camera back during a bad period in my life where I didn’t even have a scanner.

the one below I made today. It was kind of a healing experience. To remake the image in a format I could add color to eventually, and that shows my growth as an artist.

One of my dirties artistic secrets is that I find ‘bad art’ on the internet and redraw it, saving it in a folder for noone to see. But this time I redrew my own old art (actually my first ever digital drawing) and I think then result shows my entire artistic journey into… this fucking pervert.

In the end I had to rush it a little, I have to start studying for my finals tomorrow and I know that if I leave drawings unfinished I’m going to get distracted :/

But it still works as a comparison. I haven’t learnt how to draw hands yet, though

You know how practice always makes perfect? The first picture is from 2 years ago, see that awful boob line and that hand. There is always room for improvement, always. Even now, I still see flaws, but that is what keeps me going. I hope to one day be able to draw as some of the lovely artists here on tumblr. I’ll continue working to that goal, and the same towards all my followers. Do what you all love, it will take you far :)
