I had a conversation with a friend the other day about his job search that went something like this: Friend: I wrote to him last week and still haven’t heard back. It’s so frust...

Working Out At Home
Pros
No judgement from others. You can be barefoot instead of buying Vibrams. Wiping down equipment is optional. You can go at your own pace. Post workout food is in immediate vicinity. Rewearing clothes or wearing clothes that are tacky/worn down won't make you feel as self-conscious. Tranquility. No waiting on equipment. No need for deodorant beforehand unless you can't handle your own smell. Videos and apps galore to work with. No membership fees. Less excuses to not work out. No burning gas to get to the gym or limited gym hours. You determine your soundtrack.
Cons
Less access to weight racks or expensive equipment. Peer pressure might improve your work out. Designated working out space. Paying might motivate you to use the membership. Showing off fun work out clothes.
If only I had known before signing my first contract.
When painting or coloring, always use black last. That way it won't run into your other colors

How I Reassured Myself I Would Be Okay After My Cancer Diagnosis
In late 2006, I underwent a clean, routine mammogram. Six weeks later, I found a small lump in my left breast. Two weeks and two surgeries after that, on January 23, 2007, I was diagnosed with Stage 2-3 breast cancer. It was the lobular type that doesn’t show up on mammograms…

New Experience: The Movies
For the first time ever, I went to the movies by myself. Going alone was something I would always scoff at or brush aside. Like most, I find movie attending to be a social activity. Well, after all the bad news I've been getting, I'm finally picking myself up. That started with a trip to the movies to see Frozen because I wasn't going to wait to see it with my maybe future ex boyfriend.
It seems like a lot has been taken from me lately. I'm trying to get back what I lost, primarily my happiness. Going to see a movie I've been wanting to watch for weeks is a start.
It’s been about 36 hours since I got the news. Things aren’t necessarily looking up but I got a needed reality check and understand the power of empathy. I’m making a list for myself, and possibly others, for how to deal with being let go.

Defogging Windows in the cold
Tonight was a bit below freezing with some rain. My windshield proceeded to ice up as I was driving. The solution: run the heat with the A/C on as well as window vents. The window vents are a given, but if it's cold out and rainy, you can run the heat with A/C button on to keep the inside of the car from fogging up.
The difference between empathy and sympathy.
Hospitality
The pineapple is a symbol of hospitality, learned from working at Williams-Sonoma. That's why the wrapping paper has a pineapple pattern on it.
