Time to ramble about the best scene in Crisis Core again~
Sephiroth has just heard Jenova is a monster. His reaction to it is amazing, turning away at the end of initial shock.
He is quiet and flashes back quickly to the monster they found inside the mako tank, a monster that used to be human.
“truth I have sought all my life”, that line is pretty heartbreaking, we don’t know much about Sephiroth’s life/childhood, but we know he doesn’t know anything about his past and it bothers him.
Then there’s this line… it’s slightly mistranslated in my opinion.
To my knowledge of japanese, “Ore ni nani ga dekiru?”=“What should I do?”/“What can I do?”
It’s more ambiguous, he could be asking Genesis “what do you want me to do”, like english translation probably thought he was saying, but it’s possible he isn’t even talking to Genesis anymore, but to himself. Sephiroth is asking what should he do with his life now that he knows.
