Agnes chewed her lip. She wasn’t supposed to be out here. She wasn’t supposed to be outside. She was supposed to be inside, helping Sister Elizabeth with the tidying up. Except, she’d finished her part already and Sister Mary had told her she could go. Probably she’d only been allowed to leave because she kept stopping in the middle of her chores to stare out the window, but she would take whatever reprieve she could get. 

The new girl was outside. At least, Agnes thought she was, because she hadn’t seen her anywhere inside, and Agnes had been over most of the orphanage that morning, cleaning it.  She hadn’t seen the new girl there, so, she must be outside. 

Agnes wiped her hands on her dress. Normally, she didn’t like the other children, they didn’t like her, and that suited her fine. She was perfectly happy playing by herself. But, the new girl was special. The new girl was different just like she was. The new girl was a faerie too. Now, if only Agnes could convince her of that. 

Spotting movement in the grass, Agnes bounded over. Panting a little as sh3 reached the spot, she called out, “Hello! Are you the new girl? Please come out. I’ve a very important message for you.”

Agnes liked this new friend. She didn’t often make them, friends, but she had this time. She’d found someone as odd as she was and it was wonderful. Wonderful and glorious and marvelous and she could be as odd as she liked and her new friend wouldn’t mind a bit. She gave a little wiggle in her chair before turning back to the cloak in her lap. Hers was green, a deep emerald green edged with a strip of gold satin. The perfect cloak for a fairy princess—which she was, at least for Halloween. Never mind that she was too old for such things. It was grand fun and her friend did not mind her idle games, even if she was much too old to be playing them.”Its grand. See?” She held the cloak up, not bothering to look her friend in the face. She wouldn’t mind about that, either.

I was concerned that there was no price listed per sq ft on the source site, so I looked it up and they are CHEAP AND AFFORDABLE NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE.  The bigger homes cost around $34.74/sq.ft (one of the smallest runs ~$15k, but a 4-bed 4-bath home is ~$66.6k,  which is damn affordable when comparable homes in my area are closer to five times that price).  Color me in love.  [x]
