Stiles: Uh, dude, I don't know if you know but you said that out loud.
The first transformation by *Lelia Portrait of the Hale’s faily from the tv series Teen Wolf. Derek Hale’s first transformation into a werepuppy, I imagined that he was playing with his dad and suddenly he wolfed out, due of the shock he landed on his ass, all under the amused and proud gaze of his father.
I was inspired in my beloved dog “Beka” (R.I.P) , when she was a puppy the first time she barked she landed on his ass due the shock, it was really cute and funny. Sorry for my bad english LOL
no fucking awoo. no awoo right now. its late. its not awoo time. its sleeping time. go the fuck to bed.
well now he’s upset.
my sweet summer children who are discovering teen wolf for the first time and reading the deluge of fics that are here in a flurry because there's SO MUCH content and it's great! . hello. welcome to the fandom. you're probably not reading this because you are not on tumblr. but i'm going to say it in the hopes that i reaches you somewhere.
i am DELIGHTED you are here. truly. i am so happy you are leaving comments and kudos on my fics and are enjoying them. thank you <3
i want to share with you something about the era of 2012-2014. it was a truly bonkers time. people who were actively writing fics at this time, it reflected in those works. so there are vestiges on ao3 of headers, disclaimers, etc that there's absolutely NO context for if you're only consuming fics on ao3. so here is some context.
there was a time where official MTV marketing people actively made fun of fanfic, and it was hugely stigmatized. it was a wild era. there was a press thing where they gathered up the cast and made them read fics aloud, to the great embarrassment and discomfort of the cast members, and also-- horrifying for the writers whose fics were chosen. no one wanted it. it was awful.
fandom was widely ridiculed and courted both at the same time - fandom was actively in twitter -- and this was the heyday of live watching, live tweeting. this was the start of the trend - TW folks on social media live watched and tweeted and hashtagged because it was fun, we would hang out with each other on tumblr and twitter and liveblog our reactions. for fun! and this garnered a LOT of attention by official marketing people who immediately monetized it. their show was trending! so cool! hashtag teenwolf livetweet. hashtag lizard time. they would get their cast members to watch too and livetweet reactions. truly a Cool New Thing. took a tiny weird show on MTV and catapulted it to attention. every week. weird hashtags about werewolves trending! so in this way, mtv benefited from fandom just hanging out being fandom because it showed community engagement. and they were both simultaneously like, this is cool, but also, this is disgusting. look at all of you being so ridiculous. what a silly hobby you have writing things about our fictional werewolves. there even was an official aftershow that aired live on mtv that did commentary and occasional fun lil things that also made fun of fic.
nowadays, fic is cool. people talk about it because it's been more than 10 years and the conversation has shifted.
so when you come across an artifact in a fic that says stuff like "i don't give permission for any press to read this fic aloud" that is what it's referencing.
okay, but also blanket statement to newbies about blatantly wrong reoccurring canon elements in fanfictions:
WE DIDN'T KNOW THAT YET, THEORIES WERE MADE BY SOMEONE POPULAR IN OUR FANDOM, WE ALL RAN WITH IT
This is literally the answer to so many things. Such as:
-Why do so many fics call the Sheriff John when his name is Noah?
-Why is Stiles called Genim in fics?
-Why is Parrish Isaac's brother in some fics?
-Why is Derek's dad called Gale sometimes?
-Why is Deaton evil in some fics?
-Why is Lydia (insert supernatural creature here) instead of a banshee?
-Why are banshees, chimeras, and Hellhounds portrayed so different in fics than in the show?
-Why do fics have the Alpha pack as so much stronger/with different members/different powers/without some members/all the members described as looking completely different?
-Why is Derek's son named (something other than Eli)/why does Derek have a daughter instead in fics?
BECAUSE. WE. DIDN'T. KNOW. THAT. YET.
We had to wait for 1 episode to be released once a week for close to a decade. If authors waited to know all the answers before writing, nothing would have been written for 10 years. Things were written as information was unfolded to us so, yes, be prepared to read a ton of fics with a ton of things written wrong in them en masse.
also must I say it's really beautiful and insightful to come across the wide variety of fics here and correlate them with the time they were written in, and realise how that shaped the imagination and tropes within the fandom. Seeing so many diversified interpretations not only broadens the scope of fic writing but also writing in general, where you don't have to adhere to everything canon, or get stuck with realism, or abandon your imagination to fit a specific mould. You have stories where halfway through the fic you'll catch writers dropping notes like written before 3b, or written before the trailer dropped and you see how there were people working towards a completely different arc that still goes perfectly well with the canon that precedes it. I recently read a fic written in 2013 that still treated peter like the devil, when I've read so many where he's just the fun lurking uncle—and it's so enlightening to see those different perspectives! As an artist you see how different a path the story could have taken, and more so you are met with the sheer determination of writers writing and dedicating time to their projects despite all odds. There's much to learn from. It can be deeply demoralizing to see how off the mark your interpretation was, or how different it is from the canon, and yet to keep writing and completing what you set out to make is a very inspiring thing to come across as a budding writer. What these efforts ensured was that it opened ground for many different interpretations and characterisations that future writers/fandom would wanna play with. Because of these early writers the foundation of this fandom is dynamic, it has a diversity of thought, and it invites and has room for many more interpretations and iterations
Fully prepared for everyone to disagree but just my head cannon Peter sees stiles as an actual person (with autonomy) while he sees others as chess pieces to use because he recognizes stiles is similar to him.
Like it’s made fully clear that stiles is his favourite. Lydia brought him back to life, but the minute she plays her piece, he’s done.
Peter is a super morally grey character who manipulates and tricks his way through the seasons. He doesn’t get close to people but he favours stiles. He asked to give stiles the bite rather than take it from him. Because he sees stiles is just as clever, and thus stiles gains respect and becomes a person rather than a piece.
He is also number 1 sterek shipper, he tries to manipulate they into getting and staying together like he did with Paige, and stiles throws wolfsbane in his face
okay but imagining that season one scene where Derek is hiding in Stiles' room and Danny comes over and asks who Derek is, but instead of saying "My cousin", Stiles says "My boyfriend." And Derek still looks up giving him a death glare. "You have a boyfriend?" Danny says incredulously because apparently Stiles having anyone romantically interested in him is crazy. "Yep. This one likes shoving me against walls. Don't you big boy?" And yeah okay-- maybe Stiles likes making fun of Derek a bit while he can though he knows he's gonna get murdered later for it.

We can do it.
plug a little weird but he chill
not to be an incredibly biased steter shipper, but peter slowly reaching out and grabbing stiles' forearm and bringing his wrist up to his mouth while stiles watches and asking him "yes or no?" with his mouth hovering inches away from his wrist is fr the most erotic scene in the entire show
cunt4cunt is a very underrepresented ship dynamic and i am here to do my part o7
Platonic OR romantic, Peter has never simped as hard for anyone as he has for Stiles and that’s his canon self okay yall ain’t doing him justice in fics. Even if it’s not Steter that man is at Stiles’s beck and call even when Stiles is giving him attitude he’ll roll his eyes and scoff and then instantly do what he asks him. Let Peter simp for him. He’s trying to either romance or adopt him at all times and I approve of both.
