I am the angel who dwells in the point where lines fork. Whoever retraces the way of divided things encounters me, whoever descends to the bottom of contradictions runs into me, whoever mingles again what was separated feels my membraned wing brush his cheek!

Keeping Things Whole, Mark Strand
my recent commission made by the wonderful kay_tee_kat on twitter :)
inspired by this, this and this post.
here are some notes on the piece:
– the hand caressing his face is meant to be both motherly and possessive
– he kneels in resemblance of prayer, with his hands close to his heart, looking up in awe, surrounded protectively by the force deity
– the water slipping out of his burned hands is meant to symbolise trying to hold onto a power that is too much
– the cape spills into the wave; the circle of water makes the shape of a crescent moon; the eyes on the body of the force resemble droplets
the overall piece and the colour scheme were inspired by numerous classic paintings and the robes are a romantic and knightly spin on the jedi leathers. i wanted the anthropomorphised force to come across alien and otherworldly, but human enough to clearly project the feelings of entitlement, love, and danger, akin to different mythological tales of gods and their favourite mortal toys.
this piece is very special to me and i would really appreciate if you didn’t save, reshare or reupload it elsewhere without permission.
Drew this after watching that one episode where Ezra talks to Yoda at the temple and gets his Kyber Crystal
