Some light in the darkness that is Gaming news right now

gaming is SO IMPORTANT for so many disabled people (myself included).  There’s not many hobbies that have the range of interactivity and engagement that gaming has, while still being something someone can do with little movement or motor control.

I’ve met a few people who were very disapproving of my gaming hobby (was literally told to “go read a book” in a snooty way by one of them) and it frustrates heck out of me that they can’t see how important and fun gaming can be.  Gaming isn’t passive like a lot of other hobbies recommended for disabled folks.  Gaming is something to get pumped about and something that you can get better at!  You can improve your gaming skills and feel accomplished!

This is why its SO important to make gaming accessible to disabled people.

This new ‘trend’ of strobing when hit [Destiny/Assassins’ Creed to name a few] is very detrimental to anyone with a seizure disorder that is effected by strobing. A lot of people with motor disorders often have visual disorders too.

Developers really need to make flashy visual effects optional or toggled on/off in menus; not left as a fixed point.

Gaming is SO important to help with my motor skills and comprehension skills and making it inaccessible to some audiences is really detrimental.

I watched a thing recently where a guy played Ocarina of Time completely blindfolded and he said he started doing it to help his blind friend. His blind friend wanted to play the game so badly but since he was blind, he couldn't. This guy took the time to learn how to use his senses so that his friend could beat the game and the blind guy did beat it thanks to this guy!! That was really inspirational to me. I love how gaming is enjoyed by everyone no matter what and love how people take time to share it with other people.

...Happy New Year...

This is honestly the worst new year of my life.

I love my husband. I love him so much. Our love is not perfect, our relationship is not perfect, but the love we make is. The family that was born of our love is perfect. Our children are beautiful and I am so blessed and lucky to have them. I look at my daughter and son today, though, with a heavy heart. I've had this heavy heart for several days now. 

When I found out for sure that we were expecting a third Yang baby, I was sad. Because again, everything felt wrong. I put it aside, though, because I knew how excited Seungho had been at the thought of another baby. I decided to tell him. I miscarried before I could. Instead of telling him that we were going to be bringing a third child into our lives, I bore the weight of telling him that our newest child had already passed away. It was hard. 

I didn't want to tell him. I thought "I'll just never tell him I was pregnant for sure." But that didn't seem right or fair. I thought "I'll not say anything and maybe he'll forget about it." But I knew he wouldn't forget. 

He tried to be playful with me, loving and sweet like he always is, and I shied away. I didn't want his touch. I didn't feel that I deserved his affection. I felt that it was all my fault. I hid away in the covers in bed and refused to come out for a while. Until the guilt overwhelmed me so much that I couldn't hold back any more. I couldn't bear the pain any longer. I couldn't keep the tears at bay. I needed my other half. I needed my partner to help ease the burden. I couldn't handle this on my own. 

Our hearts are broken. My heart is broken. I am crying even now. 

Thank you to those sweet friends who have been there for me to scream at and cry to. Those friends who have been there steadfast as always. 

We plan on naming our baby, whom I feel would have been a second son, and plan on having some sort of service in his honor. I'll keep those who want to know, posted. 

All of us wish you a very happy new year and again thank you for being there for us in this time.

Just so you know, when it comes to girls who have acne that wear foundation, we know very well that it doesn’t just magically make our acne disappear. We know damn well that you can still pick out the freaking bumps on our face. WE KNOW THIS.
