She sprawls like this all the time and it cracks me up
Stitch passed away last night/early this morning and Iām honestly at a loss for words.
A writer at a loss for words.
All I know is that it hurts, that I am not okay and that itās okay to feel the way I do.
Hereās a Leelu with paws in the air like she just donāt care and a belly full of floof~
Time to share the morning beans~
Tryptich of my kitty being adorable!
Time for more beans~ I was chosen by Stitch (top two photos) this afternoon for cuddles, which she rarely does because sheās old and picky and creaky.
I buried my face in Leeluās tummy and it was delightful.
I love Stitch. Sheās an oldy but a goldy~
I woke up to this cutie pie this morning and figured Iād share~
More beans for those who donāt know I have some~
reasons you should adopt black cats 1. theyāre adopted less bc of superstition 2. the fuzzy one look like soot motes 3. people think youāre a witch and leave you alone 4. Every picture you take of them looks like a void with glowing eyes which is inadvertently hilarious
5. cat
6. If you have one that likes to hang around open doors like mine, trick or treaters will go nuts when they see them
Confirmed! I have a squishy, mostly black bean and she is delightful~ You can see her and her older āsisterā at my blog @leelu-n-stitch !
Recent photos of the beans! Aka the adventures of couch kitty and kitchen bean
@bamfcoyotetango: This is Stitch (tabby) and Leelu (tortie)~
hello Stitch and Leelu! two warm handsome friends
Kitty-inna-box because sheās being being a brat and the box is the only thing that keeps her outta trouble.
So this is her! Sheās 32 inches from nose to tail tip and she weighs a nice 17 pounds~
Like FUBAR, she does cuddles and support. I thought you might like her. :)

I LOVE HER I L O V E HER
Look at these little assholes. Not only are my legs falling asleep, I also cannot move because I am pinned down by sleeping cats!
This was meant to be a quick warm up, but it turned into a comic that Iāve wanted to draw for a while. This is something that is extremely important to me, and I appreciate it if you read it.
A while ago, I heard a story that broke my heart. A family went a cat shelter to adopt. The daughter fell in love with a 3-legged cat. The father straight up said āabsolutely notā. Because he was missing a leg. That cat was that close to having a family that loved him, but the missing leg held him back. Why?!
Many people have the initial instinct of ānopeā when they see an imperfect animal. I get it, but less-adoptable does NOT mean less loveable. 9 out of 10 people will choose a kitten over an adult cat. And those 10% that would get an adult cat often overlook ādifferentā animals.
All I want people to do is be open to the idea of having a ādifferentā pet in their lives. Choose the pet that you fall in love with, but at least give all of them a fair shot at winning your heart.
Donāt dismiss them, they deserve a loving home just as much as any other cat. They still purr, they still love a warm lap, they still play, they still love you. Trust me, next time you are in the market for a new kitty, just go over to that one cat thatās missing an eye and see what heās all about!
Let me tell to you a thing.
This is Lenore. I first saw her in a little cage at the Petco I frequent (I used to take my parentsā dog in for puppy play time), and she looked like the grouchiest, old, crotchety cat in the world, and I fell instantly in love. She was cranky, she was anti-social, hanging out at the back of her cage. Her fur was matted because she wouldnāt let the groomers near her.
She was perfect.
But I didnāt have a place for her. I wasnāt living in my own space yet, and where I was, I wasnāt allowed cats. So I pressed my face to the bars of her cage and I promised that if no one had adopted her by the time Iād bought a house, I would come back for her.
I visited her every week for overĀ six months while I looked for a house. At one point, they had to just shave her entire rear-end because the mats or fur were so bad. They told me she clawed the heck outta the groomer that did it, screamed the entire time, and spent the next two days growling at anyone that came near the cage.
A couple of weeks later, I closed on my house. I went back and I got an employee, and I said: āThat one. I need that cat.ā
They got the paperwork and the lady who ran the rescue that was bringing the cats in told me that Lenore (at the time, Lila) was 8 years old, had been owned by an elderly lady who had died, and brought in to a different rescue, whoād had her for six months on top of the time Iād been seeing her at Petco.
This kitty had been living in a 3x3ā cube for over a YEAR because she was older and āless adoptable.ā
I signed the paperwork, put her in a cat carrier, and drove her to my new home. I had pretty much nothing; a bed, an old couch, a couple of bookcases, and a tank of mice I called āCat TVā. I let her out of the carrier and onto my bed, and I told her āI told you I would come back for you when I had a place. Itās not much, but itās yours too now.ā
Lenore spent the next three days straight purring non-stop. She followed me around the house purring. Sat next to me purring. Slept next to me purring. Leaning into every touch, purring, purring, always purring. She still purrs if you so much as think about petting her. Sheās amazing, and I love her.
So, you know, if youāre thinking about adopting, and you see a beast that others consider āless adoptable,ā think about Lenore.
My sinuses just did that sharp burning thing that means i am having an emotion
Okay, so Iāve got got a story to add to this.
I have two cats.
One kitty is a long-time family pet named Stitch. She technically is my Momās cat and she displays that just fine.
The other⦠Well, the other is a former shelter cat from a rescue that used Petsmart to show off the more well-natured cats they had.
She was 11 months when I first saw my cat. Her name was Sissy (German diminutive) and she sat at the bottom right cage closest to the kittens.
The thing is⦠This was her third time there. I asked about her story because I was curious about why such a sweet cat had not gone home yet. She had literally shoved her face in mine and had been very loving.
The volunteerās expression soured quicker than I thought possible.
The next words out of the volunteerās mouth were something that saddens me to this day.
āSheās been adopted twice and returned both times.ā
I gaped. This cat? The one currently trying to make me her pillow? Something of it mustāve showed on my face.
āShe was adopted out at two months, given back at five. She was adopted again at five and just recently returned at ten months. Sheās a very sweet cat but they always bring her back. She has litter issues and what equates to a cat cold.ā
My heart sank at those words. I looked Sissy in her gooey little eyes and I said to her as quietly as possible, āYouāre coming home with me. I promise.ā
I volunteered at the shelter, getting to know her better and better. She did sit in her litter box. She howled when she heard me coming through the two doors there. But, we shared something Iāve only ever shared with one cat before her.
I talked about her constantly. I took photos with my phone. And my Momās. She made my day brighter.
And no one came to adopt her.
Oh, they looked and they hemmed and hawed because the thing about Sissy?
Sheās a tortieshell cat.
Dark cats, as I came to learn, were adopted out nearly three times less than any other color. There was four dark cats in that shelter. It took another year before the other tortieshell got adopted out but back to Sissy.
Around rolls my birthday month and Iām at a loss because I promised this cat that sheād come home with me. Iām hoping for the adoption fee and getting her out myself.
My parents did me one better:
They brought her home.
She never had responded to Sissy. I renamed her Leelu, after the character in Fifth Element because she actually perked up from where she was laying when she heard the name.
You can see her and Stitch @leelu-n-stitch and I urge you to not only pick out a special needs cat but maybe a dark one too.
On average, dark cats have significantly lower adoption rate than those of other colors.
Give them a chance. I promise theyāre worth it.
Iāve had Leelu for five years now and sheās officially 5! Her birthday (technically) is in Feb but Iāve always celebrated in Jan because itās just the way Iāve always done it.
She was born in 2012 and sheās been the best pal anyone could ever ask for! Hereās to many more years, you big baby~
If you wanna wish her a happy birthday, send an ask to @leelu-n-stitch addressed to Leelu!
