Liberation

It's such a great feeling knowing that you're starting to take the first steps to accomplishing what you want to do in life. My goal is to be able to make impact full short films, something to inspire the youth of the next generation and my own generation. Starting my second semester at university as a freshman, and finallyyy taking subjects that relate to what I want to do is the most liberating thing ever. Anyone relate? Side note: I will definitely be updating my tumblr more often in the next few weeks! It's definitely good to be back.

Attitudes that Lead to Success

1. Remember that you are the driver of your life. You choose your goals and your attitudes. 2. Look for the positives , and ways to overcome the challenges and obstacles you meet along the way. 3. Notice the strengths and positives in others. We all appreciate when other people say kind things. 4. It’s hard to stay stressed if you’re also being thankful. So cultivate an attitude of gratitude. 5. Find your passion and your “why” - and then invest your energy in reaching for some dream that makes you feel fully alive. 6. Refuse to let the negatives of others wear you down, or undermine your passion, or make you change your course.

"Hold on to your colour"

This is what my brother told me yesterday while I was having one of those heartfelt conversations with him. He told me to hold onto that colour and work to preserve it. He told me that god wouldn’t let that colour slip. Let me explain what he means by colour exactly. By colour, he means those characteristics that make me who I am and keep me and those around me motivated. Colour refers to the features which makes you and me special and distinguishes us from others. Learn to Preserve your colour and hold onto what you believe.

Count your blessings

I think it's hard for some people to grasp the idea that there were Syrians before the revolution who actually immigrated to other countries. It's a real shame to see how we're perceived as ignorant and the "cause of all problems" in some countries in the Middle East. Instead of choosing to stand by each other and working to create better communities and supporting our brothers and sisters in need of our help, we choose to insult them and talk behind their backs or in front of them (in some cases) instead. Arabs are discriminating against arabs. I mean it's unthinkable to see how far this has gotten. Instead of counting your blessings and putting yourself in their shoes, you choose to look down on them. Then we wonder why our ummah is so divided or why everyone is immigrating outside of the Middle East instead of choosing to stay. Subhanallah it really makes you ponder over the issues of our world today. It's important to treat others the way you wish to be treated and help those who are in need.

If you have a goal, if you have a dream, if you want something and are prepared to fight for it and you dedicate this dream of yours to Allah (swt), know that he won't let you down. Always know that when you're put in that position where you're asked to present your case, Allah has your back. He's there making it all happen. It's all a matter of belief and determination. Take that leap of faith and I promise that it'll be worth it.

Because, seriously: Why wouldn’t you want to write your own story — whatever it may be — in the most fascinating possible manner?
