âOkay, maybe he has an okay taste in attendees. Iâve just ran into all the bad ones, I think.â
âYeah, everything looksâŠexpensive.â
âThen, it makes sense, why you donât seem so enthusiastic. I guess Iâve been mostly lucky.â
âAny other observations?â
{ x. gisÚle rosseau-parkinson } :
[ A frisson of warmth skittered under her skin at the sentence. There were things she would never understand, house elf rights included, but the importance attached to family would probably always be on top of the list. Every time Claraâs frank affection confronted her, though, GisĂšle felt like she understood. ]
âJust a couple of people. Not many. Cinq, at most. And nobody cried. Yet. We could always try to, if you are looking for entertainment.â
âAre you sure? I once out-drank Oncle Jean last summer.â
[ Unspoken between them ( and the rest of Claraâs family ) were her beliefs on most subject matters, beliefs that could easily be considered progressive & shameful to the family. Even in times when Clarabel knew that GisĂšle was on her side, the fact that she did share some beliefs that had long been shed by Clara herself, still bothered her. Clara also imagined that her beliefs bothered GisĂšle, which is why they both seemed to silently agree to ignore any loose, too kind words of Clarabelâs and any obviously prejudiced ones of GisĂšleâs. ]Â
âHmm, not even a handful. Oh no, Iâm quite entertained. Almost too entertained, but no complaints.â
[ Clarabel thought about how stupid she was to even suggest that sheâd only drink if GisĂšle did. Was she subconsciously looking to get drunk? It was the only explanation for her comment. ]
âDid you really? Mon dieu, I didnât realize you could drink that much. Iâm just surprised that you havenât tried to shove a cigarette in my mouth, yet.â
âAt least this party isnât a total bust. The professor seems to know how to choose good food â not so much music or attendees.â
âHmm, should I be insulted? I think he also knows how to choose good decor.â
âI am, actually. I insulted a few people; it was hilarious. The urge to leave for smoking is inexistent and I think the punch may be, um, spiked? With Firewhiskey. You should try some.â
âIâm happy you are.â Did she dare ask who GisĂšle insulted? âWhom? Make anyone cry? --... Should I? I feel like that might be a bad idea. Iâll only drink it if you do.â A weak argument, knowing her cousin, but a semblance of an argument nonetheless.Â
âOui. Never wear a skirt like that girl is, it will look terrible.â
âOh, merci beaucoup. As kind as ever, I see, Clara. Are you enjoying yourself?â
âI liked the color, though.â
âNot kind, just truthful. I am! I feel like I may be one of the only ones who are. Are you, GisĂšle?â
âAnd why would you wish for that, exactly? Surely, if a genie appeared and offered to grant you whatever your little heart dreamt of, youâd come up with something less dull.â
âSo, you think thatâs dull? My wish?â
âIâm not in a bad mood; just commenting on bad taste. But you, you look like a princess, ma chĂšrie. Looks like time away from les parents is doing you good and the Professor is not the only one with good taste.â
âAh, I see now. Any other comments you have about other people? Iâm scared Iâll end up as one of them. Merci! What youâre wearing is lovely as well. That, however, is not a surprise.â
MOODBOARD: Clarabel Moreau  2/??
â Youâve got w a n d e r l u s t, stamped on to your heart, next to a list of promises to see more, do more, be more. But tonight, youâre in a city that understands loneliness all too well, with people who know loss âthey can pick him out in a crowd. Tonight, youâre looking at the stars with your eyes shut, and I hope you find home. I hope you remember the way the sky looked when it  opened blue. I hope you find tomorrow. â
afterglow ( gwen & clara ).
[Â Gwen wasnât sure what she was doing at that party, wasnât exactly sure she wanted to be thereâ a part of her wanted to find somewhere quiet to nap, the other craved people and noise; she needed people, she fed off them. The curly-haired witch was a people-person: a bright lights and nice music, long nights up and watching the sunriseâ but she felt tired tonight and she wondered just why Professor Sargon had thrown the thing in the first place, and why sheâd gotten an invitation. The man didnât seem too fond of her.Â
But she put on a nice dress and made her way into the crowd of students, too wrapped up in her thoughts to stop her drink from toppling onto someone elseâs front as she managed to trip over her own feet. ]
âââ â Oh, bollocks, Iâm so sorry! Can I get you a napkin?  â
[ The first event Clarabel had been to without her parents -- so far -- had been lovely. She was entranced by the lights, the soft music in the background, and most of all -- by the people. New people, people sheâd never seen before. People who looked like what she had only seen in books, muggle clothing, muggle shoes; Clarabel was e n t r a n c e d. It was almost too much. It was brilliant, all of it, but severely overstimulating and halfway through the evening when she had been feeling herself about to lose the control on her magic she had maintained, her feet shuffled away trying to find somewhere private.Â
Unfortunately, she hadnât made a clean getaway ( she felt the flowers grow in her palms ), running into another person and getting whatever drink they had been drinking all over her robes. The other girlâs voice sounded distant, but Clara was still able to make out some of what she had said. ]
--- âOh, no, Iâm alright. I ...-- Iâm just in a rush to the lavatory.â
[ âOr anywhere privateâ, she added silently. Still, Clara was able to flash a polite, apologetic smile up at the girl, hoping to hide any of the distress she may have felt. ]

âThat is hideous.â
âOh, come on, GisĂšle, whatâs got you in a bad mood? You should be excited seeing as this is my first event without mĂšre et pĂšre. Donât you at least like the lights? Professor Sargon has good taste.â
âDid you choose to dress like a peasant, or did you lose a dare?â
âWell, I disagree with you and Iâm not sure why you care so much about my outfit. -- I do wish I had some muggle clothes to wear tonight.â Though, that wouldnât make a good impression would it? The sentence chimed in Claraâs head, and sounded awfully like her motherâs voice.Â
