Introductions

Who I am:

Hello! I’m Cyn! I am asexual, polyamorous, and kinky. My gender is “none of your business”. All you need to know is that I use she/her pronouns exclusively.

I primarily focus on nonsexual kink here, however there may occasionally be exceptions. I try to tag sexual posts accordingly, particularly if they involve specific descriptions of genitalia, but because everyone’s limits and preferences are different, something that is nonsexual to me may be sexual or triggering to you, regardless of tags. Please proceed with caution.

My main kink is hypnosis, and I’ve been participating in hypnokink since about 2016, on and off with various partners. I’ve only recently (maybe around 2019) been participating more in the broader hypnokink community, as I started getting more comfy and feeling more like some community spaces were making an active effort to make room for asexual kinksters like myself.

I am almost exclusively submissive, except for very, very specific circumstances that are unlikely to ever be relevant here. I am, however, (when consented to,) a massive, massive brat who is more than happy to fight a dom or three.

I can be unapologetically flirty, and am always down for some lighthearted banter, questions about asexuality, how that intersects with kink, or basically any other good-faith question or comment you may have!

Outside of the kink world, I’m a nerdy storyteller who hyperfixates on the psychological impact of emergent storytelling like in ttrpgs, larp, interactive theatre, etc. and I will absolutely infodump about this for hours if given a chance.

To start, I don't really think that there is truly necessarily 'no such thing as the self'. We can chart out patterns of identity from context, make scientific predictions, and the results won't be fully determined by present context alone. But more than that, I think the idea of the self does have some use.

Well, as I see it, everything you believe about yourself is neither true nor false. Instead, it exists on a different level. Not quite chosen, not quite determined. Thus, I think 'be yourself' puts the cart before the horse. It's a useless little platitude. But it sounds smart because people who loudly succeed always seem to be being themselves. Charisma requires such delusion. I'd agree that a well constructed mind should know the difference between inside and outside, but yours isn't very well constructed, is it? The barriers are broken down, now just about anyone could reach inside and tell you what you are.

But, I'm not very concerned with what's usually done, just what's effective.

I know why people like the aesthetics of being dumbed down, but it's never been for me. I do get it on some level. I have some speculations but I might be projecting.

What does get me though? The idea that for as smart as I can be, it did nothing to help me. I was clever enough to recognize that my mind was being messed with, but being clever didn't really help. That even though I was able to see and understand what was happening, I could do nothing to stop it from happening.

I'm aware enough to know that I've been brainwashed. That I'm still being brainwashed. I'm clever enough to see how you're doing it to me. And I can figure out how to escape. But my addled and manipulated mind won't let me do it. The key to the cell is within reach, but my mind won't let me reach outside the bars. Escape is possible, it's right there, but I can't do it.

More than this, there's also "my own intelligence used against me" or "used as a tool for whoever has brainwashed me" that I find incredibly appealing. It's all still there, but not for me anymore, but as a tool either to continue my brainwashing or to be welded however the person brainwashing me sees fit

On the other hand, I really do like talking down to someone. Something delightfully hot about reframing someone's concerns as lesser and unimportant. In particular, I really like the feeling of watching my subject with a blank expression as it stammers and shifts in place and struggles to make eye contact as its emotions run just a little too hot for it to control. The general consensus of the "queer community" has essentially become a gated community that allows only specific liberal ideologies, american values, and only surface level tolerance of trans women at best. In practice it essentially filters out the majority of brown people, trans women, global southerners, and so on. The queer community is more like a brand, and anyone who doesn't fit the American, white brand of queerness either gets rejected outright or we get filtered due to our politics and values.

By them declaring themselves the "queer community" they make it sound as though they are representative of queerness itself, rather than representative of just their own beliefs. So an attack on the "queer community" (the brand of queerness) is likened to genuine homophobia/transphobia. While they are allowed to engage in racism and transmisogyny as much as they like.

what I mean: "sexual intercourse" is as much a social construct as "romantic courtship," and you discover this very quickly as a queer person if you try to talk to able bodied straight cis people who literally think the only thing that counts as Actual Sex is penis-in-vagina penetration, like they call oral "foreplay" it's so dire. various people have a lot of vested interest in cleanly defining "sex" vs "not sex" for a whole slew of reasons (ex. censorship dodging and enforcing, conferring the social clout of virginity and prowess, finding and closing loopholes about premarital sex, deciding what relationships "count" as serious partnerships, ligating what is general assault vs sexual assault vs Something That's Definitely Probably Fine And Not Sexual At All, Actually, etc.), and it's really not something you can just fall back on as obvious common sense that people are dumb for questioning.
