I'm Le'letha (pronounce it with two "lefts" and a "the"), I'm here for all the Girl Genius fanart, headcanons, commentary, pictures, thoughts, and other content I can find and enjoy. You will never see anything else on this page. It's all and only Girl Genius. If you see anything on this page that isn't Girl Genius, it is an ad that I did not put there and do not endorse. I enjoy tags. Tags are great fun.

I started reading Girl Genius in 2020 and credit the Foglios entirely for getting me through that year. The comic hooked my whole heart in five words ("Help me unbolt the engine!") because I laughed when I needed that laugh, and broke it right down the middle with six ("We could have kept him safe.") I live in this comic now. I'm so happy to be here.

Girl Genius for 7/17

I have noticed a distressing trend as I get older: Time seems to pass more quickly. The result is that whereas the quality of work I produce is unchanged (I hope), the amount of time it takes me to create it is increasing. I don't know what to do about that.

I guess when you have the option to respawn every time you die, you get a little less careful about dying.

Sure, her eventual triumph will take longer, but Lucrezia doesn't care - she's either immortal or she's going to be. (She thinks.) It'll just make crushing her enemies that much more satisfying.

I am seriously considering designing and building some 3D printed life sized figurines of the Castle and Train mini clanks from Girl Genius. It doesn't look that hard, their shapes aren't that complicated, I've done similar projects in the past, and there are a lot of reference images of them in the comics to work from by now. I'm just not sure if I need another project right now.

These guys are mostly just a collection of simple shapes - cubes, spheres, cylinders, etc - so they should be pretty simple to whip up 3D models for. The only hard part will be their surprisingly anatomically correct hands. I've never done a good job of modeling hands. Maybe I'll just look and see if I can find some pre-made hand models to paste in for those instead.

although now that I look closer I realize that they only have 3 fingers plus a thumb on their hands instead of the normal amount. I'll probably have to model those from scratch after all.

Why do Rakethorne's Static Zap Gloves fit Krosp so well?

The gloves are Spark work and resize themselves to fit the wearer

Krosp had them altered later to fit him better

The gloves were made for Krosp as part of Rakethorne's plan to seduce Agatha

They actually don't fit very well but that would be distracting to draw

Rakethorne has cat hands but our Professors have chosen not to reveal this

Girl Genius for 7/13

Built a couple of shelves and rearranged the pantry yesterday. Very satisfying, with a soupcon of art, as people who have experienced my carpentry will know, I build to fit, with zero tolerances.

Hmmm... I would put good money on at least part of Lucrezia's dislike for Jägers being simply "sour grapes".

Back when she was first making her calculations as to whether marrying Bill Heterodyne would be "worth it", it seems likely to me that one factor would've been getting a chance to try and either directly exploit the Jägers, or achieve a better understanding of their fanatical loyalty to the Heterodyne line, so that she could instill similar loyalty to her in the people she wanted to manipulate. And then she found out that wresting the Jägers themselves away from the Heterodynes would be either impossible, or so difficult and troublesome that it wouldn't be worth it in the end.

If the linking of the Geisterdamen to Lucrezia's service (either by manipulation of a pre-existing Geisterdamen culture, or outright creation by Lucrezia), happened - relative to Lucrezia's personal timeline - *after* she had become familiar with Jägers and their loyalty to the house of Heterodyne, I might even venture a guess that the Geisterdamen were intended to be Lucrezia's own "improved" version of the Jägerkin:

Unswervingly loyal to Lucrezia (and only Lucrezia, not merely her bloodline);

All-female as opposed to mostly-male;

Highly combat-capable;

As referenced in the above screenshot, less inclined to bawdy slapstick-style humor than Jägers are;

View themselves as elite, special, chosen servants to Lucrezia compared to her other minions;

Fitting consistently into Lucrezia's preferred personal aesthetic (beautifully attractive, feminine, and human-like, with insect-like servants), but also having a bland and limited color palette, so as to appear like 'pale shadows' in comparison to Lucrezia's own physical beauty;

No need for variation in appearance like the colorful variety that the Jägerkin display - Lucrezia does not care if her minions are basically interchangeable with each other, as long as they all do what she wants them to;

Distinctive patterns of speech in lingua europa, plus an actual language of their own for speaking in front of the uninitiated without being overheard;

I think at one point it was implied that the Geisterdamen don't cut their hair? Could be that they view their hair as a similar cultural touchstone to how Jägerkin view their hats?

Today is a "keep your goddamn head down and get to work" day. I hate those, but they are occasionally necessary. At least I have a plethora of podcasts.
