Obligatory Introduction Post!

Hello!

My name is Lemon (or Lucid, if you'd prefer!!) I'm an aspiring artist and occasional writer, and I'm currently very invested in Undertale, the Undertale AUs, and Deltarune. I'm here because I had the impulsive urge to make this account during a class, and I figured why not lol

I usually post fanart (with the occasional bit of oc art) on my Instagram, which I'll link down below! I'll probably post a few things from that account on here before I start working on anything new.

I do ask that my art not be reposted for any reason, regardless of if there is credit. Thank you!

I've been working on both of these updates for a long while now, but I've had work and a lot of life stuff happening over the past few months! I hate using the work excuse, but I work 8-5 5 days a week, and my job is extremely mentally, physically, and emotionally taxing a lot of the time 😓 Usually by the time I get home, I'm completely exhausted, sometimes even to the point where words stop making sense and I fall asleep with my drafts open on my computer KSHDNFND

Genuinely though I've been working on the updates for both of these fics a LOT over the past few weeks, and when I'm not being overly critical of what I've already written, I'm really making some progress! I really, really want to get them out soon, and it's really nice to know that people like them and are waiting <3333

Chapter 1: Please Don't Call.

It's the first December since the truce had been established, and Nightmare and Dream have very, very complicated feelings regarding this time of year. Decisions are made, for better or for worse.

Chapter 1 is based on the song "Merry Christmas, Please Don't Call" by Bleachers!

Given the title, I should have guessed where it was going but I kind of just read it without giving the title a second thought and then realized what was going on. xD

Poor Dream needs better coping strategies than burying himself in work. It's probably outside the realm of what this story will cover but I can't help but wonder if Nightmare is completely lost to the corruption or if passive Nightmare is still in there somewhere.

Aww, thank you! I'm glad you like it!

Keeping it open for guests was a must for me! Before I made my account, I was a guest reader for YEARS (and I still am when I don't feel like logging in), so I definitely didn't want to alienate those readers!

And that actually isn't outside of what the story will cover! I'm extremely partial to Nightmare still being himself and not that outside entity that he is in canon, so AOWtS's Nightmare IS still Dream's brother, just with a very altered/corrupted mindset. Most of my work will probably be that way, since I really enjoy the extra angst their estranged bond creates!

Again, thank you for reading! I'm trying to get the motivation to work on the next chapter, and receiving an ask about it was a nice surprise :)

Undertale Anniversary Art! Sentimental ramble below the cut 🙂‍↕️

Undertale turns 10 years old today! In honor of that, I'm gonna ramble just a little bit.

There are no words to describe how much this game means to me. I played it for the very first time back in 2017, after all of the initial hype had already died down. I was a freshman in highschool with a passion for video games and a budding interest in art and writing. I was also beginning to discover things about myself during that time, things that I was still struggling to come to terms with and accept.

Undertale is more than just a game to me. Without it, I don't think that I would be the person I am today. It provided years worth of inspiration and motivation to create, whether it was because of the game itself or its plethora of alternate universes. It provided representation for the young teenager seeking validation for her feelings and identity. And later, in 2020, it provided me with friends during a time when everything seemed lonely and uncertain.

I made my Instagram account during the pandemic because I desperately wanted to interact with others who loved Undertale as much as I did, and I found that. I found my best and most trusted friend, who sobbed together with me during the 5th anniversary concert and still listens to my insane ramblings about the game to this day. Over the years, I have made so many other incredible friends, all of whom I cherish, regardless of when or where we met.

Now, 8 years later, I still love Undertale. I draw Undertale art. I write Undertale stories. I talk about the game and it's alternate universes with treasured friends who love them just as much as I do. And, most importantly, I am happy.

Thank you to the silly little indie game that changed my life. Happy Anniversary, Undertale!

Also hello hello to the people following me for my fic 🙂‍↕️

I am still working on stuff but with the hype of Deltarune updating I've been a bit fixated on that on top of everything else. Also Artfight. Yeah.

But! I wanted to say is that I might start making my chapters a bit shorter! Maybe with a goal of around 3k words each instead of 5k? The reason for that is that I feel like 5k is a REALLY daunting goal for me to achieve with every single chapter, which results in me getting very overwhelmed and not wanting to work on it as often as I should. I also end up being more critical of my writing and rewriting and rewriting until I'm happy with it. I feel bad for making y'all have to wait so long for a single chapter, but I also feel like I'm doing too much and getting burnt out, you know? Especially since this is my first long fic.

I haven't decided what I'll do with the next chapter yet! The draft is well past my goal of 3k, so I may end up putting it out as the last super long chapter. OR, alternatively, I could split it into 2 chapters. We will see 🙂‍↕️
