I know Hunter is probably the least liked of the cast but I think his arc was accepting the changes of his life.
I always headcanon Hunter got taken from his biological parents because they were really bad people. Hunter stayed in a care-home for a couple years and some people have taken him into their home. However Hunter had a lot of anger issues because of the abandonment and many families often sent him back. He got into fights with other kids at the home and just struggled with his feelings of being unloved. He’s like really young as well (Five years old)
Wasn’t until a four year old Blake chose him to be brother. His adopted parents were looking for a younger kid to adopt and decided to take Hunter into the family upon seeing how much Blake loved him and hearing his story. It was the first time Hunter had something stable and loving and he loved his family.
However when his parents get killed, it just make those anger and emotional issues worse. Hunter felt abandoned again despite knowing his parents didn’t mean to leave Blake and him behind. Blake ends up being the only person he has left of his “old” life when their Sensei takes them in. (And their Sensei is not loving like their parents. ) Blake often found Hunter in so much anger and often punching something down. He wasn’t violent to other students but he isolated himself, only allowing Blake in.
Then the whole Thunder Academy raid occurred. His sensei is also taken away. Even if sensei left Hunter in a lot of anger, he couldn’t help but be upset another thing he was used to was getting taken away again. Lother’s whole plan screwed with him more, especially when his parents came to talk to him.
It also didn’t help that Blake was a lot more social than him. He was able to befriend the Wind Academy so much easier than he could. While he likes the other rangers, he misses how life was when it was just the two of them. It felt like any time Hunter wanted to be with his brother, Blake would always invite one of the wind ranger’s to the outing and Hunter has to hide his annoyance. He feels like his relationship with Blake is also drifting apart and starts confiding in him less. Him hiding the gem was that last desperation to get his old life back. The comfort and stability that he knows
Wasn’t until the “A Gem in the Day” where Hunter starts accepting this change. Blake realizes how much Hunter is hurting and they finally talk about their feelings from the past years. Their parents death, ranger duties and what they both want after they defeat Lother. It’s when Blake opens about his own grief and while he may act normal, there’s a lot of pain he also hides.
It’s when Hunter finally puts down his wall, and accept that this is new life. He has friends and Blake will always be his brother despite their different paths. He’ll miss his parents but he’s going to start living his life
The vast open void of space was pitch black until a royal purple ship flew slowly with 6 smaller ships by it. It's an Armada Attack ship with multiple warships by it. Inside the purple ship was the last of the royal generals … Yellzor.
He stared out into the bleak darkness of space in thought until a bruiser approached him.
"W-we don't have any responses to any other planets originally conquered by the Armada. They have all been liberated, sir. We are alone... The Armada has truly fallen."
*With one swipe of Yellzor's hand, the bruiser is smacked to the other side of the control room.*
"WE HAVE NOT FALLEN! UNTIL THE LAST X-BORG FALLS, THE ARMADA SHALL STAND!"
*multiple soldiers cheer for him. As he turns around and gives orders.*
"I want two warships to reestablish communications with planet Thertties and Foorties. Those planets have been loyal since the beginning of the Armada. They will happily resupply us with X-Borg factories and warships. NOW!"
"YES SIR!"
*The bruiser runs off to give these orders.*
*The door then opens as the only surviving butler walks in with a platter of drinks. His name is Invidious.*
"T-t-the drink you ordered Yellzor."
"Thank you Invidious."
*He grabs the drink as he continues to look out the window into the darkness of space. His mind wandered.*
