to return to that post about the truly wild things we make high school kids do that aren’t at all normal in the real world, here is a series of things that all happened on the same day back when I had no choice but to wake up at 5:45 am:

7:40 - 8:25 am: I score an 11 on a precalc test

10 minutes later: I get my period

10 minutes after that: 9/11 happens

6 hours after that: I still have to go to driver’s ed

There are 2 separate people in my neighborhood selling multiple recent issues of the New Yorker on Facebook Marketplace and in their posts, both of them referred to their deep shame at giving up but they just can’t, you know? There’s no point in pretending they’re eventually going to read all those Isaac Chotiner interviews with hapless contrarians, and they already looked at all the cartoons. Anyway, I can’t tell if I want them to meet & get married or if I just suspect they have the same therapist.

okay great, because a gal in Watertown with the same taste in IKEA furnishings as me neatly organized my bundle on her porch and I finally got the big ol SNIDAD basket that I’ve always wanted for Pillow & Blanket Containment (but could not realistically justify purchasing for $30 when I have a perfectly good 12-year-old plastic bin from the Job Lot for that purpose)

during this most blessed Leasemastide I have also re-organized my closet using only items sourced from Marketplace, which is doubly impressive because the light burned out as soon as I started making actual progress.
