ELDEN RING UPDATE: Zahque the astronomer was getting his little glass cannon ass kicked so I restarted with Kheavin the samurai. I unlocked crafting and cleared a cave and a boss at the end and figured out how to level up and get my horsie!!! combat is starting to click, same as my sidescrollers: learn the moves, get the timing right, do the dance. i did unfortunately play for like 6 hours and now my thumb hurts. this game will not be good for me in most ways but it's summer in Arizona it's not like im going outside for the next few months anyway

ELDEN RING LIVEBLOG TIME! im not very good at combat video games, but if it hits just right i can get into that "no im gonna beat this thing even if it takes me all night" groove. so either this is going to make my whole summer or i threw away $80 on a game that will kick my ass with no story mode to fall back on 😭 i already kinda gave up on both ac odyssey and horizon zero dawn because i wasn't enjoying the combat gameplay so it's a gamble

anyway cave of knowledge was a piece of cake 😎 this is going great i totally got this

video games need to all use the same controls forever because now I've drained all my health potions from hitting the roll button in asscreed trying to dodge from muscle memory

ok this definitely has the secret sauce that makes me throw myself against a wall a million times. my blood pressure will never recover. success will be mine if i just remember to not take potions until it's potion time. use the targeting mechanic. you have to be facing enemies to block their attacks. if you dodge you have to dodge away from the attacks and not into them. we got this. we can function in 3-dimendional space.

(no i did not get tree sentinel yet i ran away to go fall in bottomless pits and get run over by smaller guys on horses)
