I'm probably gonna regret this BUT-
I feel like the Kyoshi novels do a better vengeance story than The Last Of Us Part II.
I've said it before, but I think I finally figured out why...
The character's internal monologue about their actions... And their partner's reaction to that change.
TLOU has Ellie's internal monologue consistent, but Dina's reactions inconsistent. Whereas the Kyoshi novels have Kyoshi's internal monologue inconsistent, and Rangi's reactions consistent.
This makes a world of difference. Having a main character not change in a revenge story is a terrible fate. Using revenge as a "lesson" for healing by having them do it and having them regret it is stupid unless you show that regret.
On the contrary, having a companion character's reactions to these actions be passive lessens the severity of the brutality taken. There's a difference between indifference and avoidance... Rangi does this better, I think, because she ends up calling Kyoshi out with the purpose of humanizing her. Not condemning her...
One story condemns revenge while having excessive violence, the other shows it as a needed point of release, while internally struggling with being this violent.

Korra's relationship with Jinora, Ikki and Meelo is so fucking cute and wholesome like that's not just their grandpa's reincarnation that's their big sister fr
In Defence of Makorra and Korrasami
... I am so tired of the idea that a ship has to be Canon for you to ship it.
I love Mako and Korra. I think they could have been a really good couple. But that's not what the story shows and I'm okay with that. They are instead really good friends. They might even have a bit of a queerplatonic relationship, which I actually really like the idea of.
But saying: "I have nothing against LGBT representation, but I think they would have worked a little bit better." When it was shown that Mako and Korra had a very dysfunctional relationship even before they started dating... Is kind of blinding yourself to what actually happened in the text.
Again you are allowed to ship them, I do too! But being ignorant of why the story went this way is my problem with this argument.
The point of the relationship is that it could have happened. It could have been something great. But they were hurting each other. And they both, mutually I might add, agreed to stop seeing each other so they wouldn't hurt each other anymore. They knew they couldn't compromise and so they decided to break up.
That. Is. FINE.
But don't come over here and say that Korra and Asami shouldn't be together because "it's not your ship". That makes it sound like you think gay people in media are a commodity and that just sounds really shitty.
For all of you respectful shippers out there, no matter what ship you like, I applaud you. And I have been in fandom for a very long time and I know this kind of behavior will not change. I think I do have the right to complain about it though. š
I like how Korra doesn't solely rely on bending in conflicts. Like she could raze the Earth, command the elements to win her battles... But instead, no. There are plenty of times in this show where she just goes: "You can catch these hands." And DECKS SOMEONE. š
Heyyy. So this is my first time posting any of my LOK related stuff on here (I recently finished the show and am OBSESSED.) So, here's an edit I made today!! I love Korra so much. I relate to her A LOT, like almost uncomfortably so. This edit was a work of love for the character. She goes through so much. š„ŗ
(VIDEO DESCRIPTION)
Korra as a character went through so much. I don't think many people talk about what she experienced. This girl has gotten beaten down, time and time again, stopped threats so much bigger than her... And nearly broke doing it. Some may say she still did break...
