you’d be reading a perfectly enjoyable Frank/Mel fic and then BAM suddenly Santos is here and she’s like the antichrist, which is garanteed to kill any enjoyment i get from that fic and make me close the tab lol but there seems to be a fandom consensus on how the Langdon Santos beef went down that completely mystify me. Starting with:

1- Santos didn’t rat Langdon out to spite him. Or as a form of vengeance bc he was a complete ass to her. Or bc she doesn’t like him. She didn’t even go to Robby in the first place. She tried to get advice and got shut down pretty violently. She wasn’t gonna say anything! He’s the one who approached her and asked her if she’s okay, which was the bare fucking minimum after he witnessed Langdon psycho scream at her in front of all their colleagues (for something she didn’t even do mind you.) And even after Robby asked if there’s anything he needed to know she still didn’t want to tell him! she threw in some sad bullshit about how she can take it. The only reason she did tell Robby was after Robby, her attending, reminded her of her professional responsibilities!

2- Santos didn’t even investigate all that hard you guys, she doesn’t have a personal vandetta or went on some crusade. It’s basically a wrong place wrong time type of situation when you think about it. She tried to give a patient meds but she couldn’t get the cap open. She looked into it to see if it was defective bc you don’t fuck around when benzodiazepines are involved since they’re highly controlled medication and oh also the meds weren’t working as they should lmao. Which is bad and should be reported! But the manufacturer didn’t have anything to indicate that it was a known problem with the vial. She then noticed that it had been resealed with surgical glue which is so fucking weird. That, coupled with the way Langdon was dismissive of Louis’ librium and all the inconsistencies in prescriptions etc. Also he was keeping the stolen pills in his locker. She wasn’t dealing with Arsène Lupin over there.

3- I’m gonna hold your hand as I say this, but Langdon was lying about that self medicating stuff and his back pain or whatever. Pls stop pretending she deprived him of life preserving pain medication. Another doctor could’ve helped with that. He was leveraging his personal close relationship with Robby when he said that. Bc he reached for the first excuse in the face of his literal boss discovering he’s stealing med from their workplace which could get his license suspended. He’s used to talking his way out of things and was dealing with withdrawals and spiraling and was obviously irrationally hoping that Robby would believe him if he just listened to his whole tall tale. Spoilers warning Robby didn’t. And Dana neither afterwards.

TDRL, leave Santos alone. She just wanted do a chest tube and got roped into that nonsense against her will. If y’all wanna be mad then be mad at Langdon for being so bad at drug stealing an intern figured him out on her first day. Embarassing asf if you ask me

How do they select which director or writer(s) to work on an episode? Is there any specialties among directors or writers? For example, director A is good to make big disaster scene, etc.

I can't fully answer this question. I don't know all the ins and outs for how Tim operates.

But there is some obvious patterns with what certain people write:

Taylor Wong notably has written episodes with a comedic side often. The majority of her episodes are Eddie focused.

Lyndsey Beaulieu is someone that they rely on for big episodes. That ranges from opening emergencies to episodes like "The Devil You Know" and "In Another Life"

But I can't tell you what Tim is thinking when he assigns each individual episode and not every episode fits the pattern.

Directors are even harder to talk about. I don't think there's a clearly connection between episodes they've done.

I will say James Wong normally directs episodes that Taylor Wong wrote, and it looks like for the first time, he's not. (Unless Tim found another James to and added them to his directing team)

James Wong has a variety of credits, including directing and writing several Final Destination movies. He has an action-esque background, but his episodes aren't always action-packed. Cursed falls more in line with this part of his past, though.

Anyways, this got away from me a bit. Hope it sorta answers your question, though!

The vast, vast majority of child sex trafficking is done with the aid of a family member. Massive, organized child sex trafficking rings are a complete fantasy. Even epstein didn't have fleets of kidnappers. He had bribes, and access to desperate young women.

The insistence that sex trafficking kidnapping gangs are a real and present danger is conspiratorial nonsene. It is a belief on par with being worried about serial killers.

I mean, there are organized criminals who traffic people for sex, mostly young women, a small number of whom are minors, but they usually get ahold of the girls by either tricking them with fake work opportunities in other countries, or by getting them and their family so deep into debt they are sold into sex work. This is how alot of colombian and Venezuelan sex workers end up in Mexico, how East and SE Asian sex workers end up in the US and Canada, and how young men and women from southeastern Europe end up streetwalking in Berlin.

It's got nothing to do with the conspiratorial fantasies of white Americans, who will probably never come anywhere near organized sex trafficking unless they visit a brothel or massage parlor as a client.

If anything, the crime it most resembles is labor trafficking (ie. Latino farmworkers or Asian restaurant and sanitation workers) which shouldn't surprise anyone, because guess what?! Sex work is real work! And sex workers are often trafficked in a manner very similar to other exploited workers! Who woulda thunkit!
