These are a select few photos from a series that I recently completed for The Coast Halifax’s weekly for their 2015 edition of The Hot Summer guide. It’s goal was to showcase the perfect summer day in Halifax. It ended up being the perfect summer week and a half for me. I recruited myself, some good friends, and some good local business to aid me in my quest for summer glory and I’m quite happy with the results. While I was out playing in the woods, one Elizabeth Curtin( sandonthebreeze) snapped a photo of me looking straight grizzly with my camera while I was taking photos of her. I like it.

Took some photos that are a little outside of the norm of my usual work for funsies. It’s really nice to get out in the wilderness and the roads less traveled and shoot for yourself sometimes.

You should really check them out, they are some really talented musicians that specialize in all things that are melding different musical styles together and making a cohesive and entertaining listening experience.

Here's a few photos I took for The Coast Halifax's Weekly over the weekend of a new up and coming two-piece garage rock band, Dregs. Dregs hails from Halifax and consists of Alex MacAskill and Ryan Dunn both of whom switch between guitar and drums in their live show. They're all about fun and putting on a very energetic live show that gets the people movin'. The have some Atlantic Canada show dates coming up which includes the illustrious Halifax Pop Explosion. Hans-Georg and Lisa's Wedding I recently just got back from a vacation/work trip to Germany. Specifically, my mother's home town of Hügelsheim which is where a lot of my family resides. In fact, I lived there for three years back in the early 90's, so it was a bit of a homecoming for me as well.

I was there with a unique task ahead of me. Photographing my uncle Hans-Georg and his lovely new wife Lisa's wedding. Playing role of photographer and as family member/guest. Wearing these two hats was a bit difficult because I wanted to mingle and talk to family I haven't seen for quite some time as well as capture the beauty of the day and all the people in it. At the end of the day, I found I was able to find that balance between family member and objective observer.

I've compiled a small collection of images that I find represent the overall feel and tone of the day.

It was a beautiful day.

Here's a pretty neat shot of some Nova Scotia craft beer that I took for The Coast's Hot Summer guide. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! I really missed doing more producty type stuff this. And yes, I got to drink the beer afterwards. It was all delicious.

@hfxfl Here's a couple of photos that I took over the weekend on assignment from The Coast of Jon Blanchard of Halifax Footlongs! It was an absolute pleasure to go down to the Seaport Farmers' Market this past Sunday to snag a couple of photos of Jon gracefully slinging dogs to very eager and hungry regulars and newcomers alike. It didn't matter that it was a muggy day because Jon's upbeat and positive attitude (and not to mention the delicious hot-dogs and smokies topped with local sauces and ingredients which you can get right in the market) kind of made you forget all about it. 

You may notice the monster of a hotdog in that last photo, that was mine. Jon made it especially for me by asking me what I like/don't like making it a custom dog just for me. And it was pretty flippin' delicious.

If you're feeling kind of peckish and you're on the waterfront, Halifax Footlongs is a great spot to get your fill! Jon will definitely treat you right and warm your heart with his amazing customer service and not to mention the warm Suprima apple cider he serves up!

Second blog post of the day because I have been saving these photos for a while until they were being used. I am super duper proud of these. I was given an assignment from The Coast to capture the atmosphere of some local favorite bars/live music venues around Halifax and I'd like to think that I got some pretty cool photos!

I've been a busy boy as of late in the photo department. Here's a little set of photos that I took for The Coast's best of food issue at everyone's favourite Lebanese food joint in downtown Halifax, Mezza. They are the reigning kings of Shawarma in Halifax and rightfully so because they are amazing. I spent a total of two evenings in this little kitchen and I enjoyed every second of it. Here's some photos that I hope you enjoy as much as I do.

I recently had a chance to take a few photos at the new Mid Point Cafe located on Spring Garden Road in Halifax this week for a recent article for The Coast Halifax's Weekly about non-caffeinated hot beverage options.

The lovely barista you see pictured here is Evangeline Sing, a resident barista at the Mid Point Cafe. She was an absolute joy to work with. She made me feel right at home. And I must say, she makes a mean London Fog!

Rebranding

Some of you may have noticed that my blog name has changed. I've just dropped my business name of Hype Photographic and decided to just use my own name as my business. I've just changed my domain name to www.lennymullins.com  I look forward to this change in branding and the new direction I'm taking my business in. Please feel free to visit the new domain and have a look at some of the work I've been producing lately. There will be much more to come.

BEACH HOUSE AT OSHEAGA 2013
