"Faults of the theater? Weren't you talking about how that Cucumber fellow was a horrible actor, and how he was uncouth and ungrateful and stuff? If I had to place a bet, the only fault of the theater in your eyes would be Cucumber! Right...?" C r e a m .
Wait. Is that werewolf still around? Quick, double-check… no? Okay.Immediately, Legato’s whole demeanor changes; less like a child afraid to get tattled on, and more like the star he absolutely is.
“Hahaha!” There it is: the laugh, the smile, the literal spotlight shining down on him. (Ignore that red aura springing to life from his gaze; that has nothing to do with that ghost’s willingness to hold that spotlight above his head. Honest. That ghost is there because he wants to be, and is not at all being possessed.) “I’m afraid I can’t deny anything you’ve just said about our dear friend…”Because, clearly, Cream was the one who had just called him a horrible, uncouth, and ungrateful actor. Her words, not his.
“But, fault of the theater or not, I’ve grown to realize that his shortcomings aren’t entirely his fault! Not all actors can be as brilliant as others! But, I digress. I’ve put our silly arguments behind me! I’ve moved on! I have plays to write, audiences to captivate! I can’t grace the theaters of Dreamside with my endless talents if I’m busy feuding with Cucumber, now, can I?”And that giant, empty cage a pair of ghosts are rolling by in the background, with a tattered Ugly Boy banner draped across the bars? That’s…A decoration.Yes. An odd, out-of-place decoration, nothing more. One not at all intended to be a future prison of any sort.

// Cucumber: * FORCEFULLY STEPS ON LEGATO’S FOOT * yep !! –j-just discussing the //faults of the theater// is all!~
“Listen, you little--” No, no--remember, Legato, you’re the mature one in this situation! You’re the star of the show! Don’t stoop to his level of immaturity! Also, there’s an angry werewolf standing a mere three steps away. Another good bit of motivation to play along with this charade, one might say.
“Yes. The faults of the theater.” Oh, Cucumber has a giant cage and an ‘Ugly Boy’ banner with his name on it just for forcing Legato to repeat that. “It’s truly a riveting conversation.”
Wisteria: *Loud, intimidating staring.* ◞(^ ¬ -¬)
Whatever additional insults Legato had intended to say about Cucumber’s horrible acting were completely forgotten, as he felt another presence standing behind him. Not either of Cucumber’s equally irritating sidekicks, not Mayor Lute, not his beloved muse, Concertina… but someone quite a bit taller and far more intimidating, staring down at him. Glaring.Does he have enough MP to spare for a quick teleportation spell? A few frantic snaps of his fingers tells him that he does not. Wonderful.Where are those ghostly servants when you need them?
“Ah… greetings! I was simply… h-having a little chat with my dear friend Cucumber, here! Yes, of course! We were just discussing his many shortcomings like two civil Dreamsiders! Haha! Haaaa…”
“ISN’T THAT RIGHT, CUCUMBER?”
jubicream:
“Why is everyone yelling?!” Having sensitive hearing was the worst.
Regain your elegant composure, Legato. Don’t let Cucumber drag you down to his level. Just take a deep breath, and--
“Because he’s an uncouth, ungrateful, horrible excuse of an actor. I gave him the opportunity to audition in my play, and he repays me by insulting me!” ...okay, so that deep breath clearly didn’t do the trick.
“...”
“Well.” Cue the elegant hair flip. “It has recently come to my attention that, perhaps, I may have cast our dear friend in the wrong role. A flower bush is clearly too far out of Cucumber’s limited acting range to handle... so, from this day forth, he is going to be--”
“AN OVERGROWN BABY. BECAUSE THAT’S PRECISELY WHAT HE IS.”

not to interrupt but i’ve read over cabbage’s pages enough times to know that he thought his son was nine. hm maybe i /should/ make a blog for him, who knows.
// Six years old, nine years old--close enough, right, Cucumber? (*Distant Cuco voice* “NO IT’S NOT--”)
And hey, go for it! Cabbage can easily fit into a wide range of scenarios, and it would be hilarious to watch him interact with different muses!
cucumbxrquestd replied to your post: box-of-characters replied to your post: // Legato,...
// Cucumber vc, from a nearby flower bush: bih you realize I’ll fight you too, I have a WAND
“Who gave this six-year-old a wand?”

‘with this contact, I fear nothing’ sees someone the slightest bit intimidating 'one fear’
Sweats profusely. “What a shame! An utter tragedy! These people don’t have an ounce of acting talent between them! I’ll just have to keep my auditions limited to the citizens of Organetto, where nobody can defend themselves.”
If all else fails, Flower Bush A can always fill in for other non-speaking roles!
// Legato, looking through the list of mutuals to see if any of them can be captured and forced to perform in his plays, only to realize most of them can easily destroy him in a fight:
'i'm fragile please don't hurt me' too bad, noogie time
“WAUGH! MAYOR LUTE, I’M BEING PICKED ON!”Oh, if Panpipe still had that contact lens, this Anon would be so sorry. With a quick snap of his fingers, he could have tossed them into a cage, or set his ghostly servants to scare them off with pillars of flame, or–Or, he could have said some really cool, intimidating one-liner which absolutely wouldn’t be a direct anime quote and scared them off that way. Pair that up with a dramatic smirk, a gust of wind rustling his coat, the whole nine yards. Yes, that’s right. That’s what he would have done. But, unfortunately, without his abilities, he can only tattle to the nearest grown-up, and wait for her to scare the Anon off, instead.
...Well, welcome, magnificent beautiful star!
“Ah, yes. That’s much better. That does have a pleasant ring to it, doesn’t it?”Where did he get that rose he’s currently holding in his hand? When did he start carrying it? Minor details, nothing to fret over.
“It’s good to see that others outside of Organetto can recognize my talent and my beauty as well!”What was that? He’d suggested that ‘Magnificent, Beautiful Star’ title in the first place? Nonsense, Anon. You must be imagining things.
Welcome to the world, bunny boy!
“Hahaha.” A dry, humorless laugh, but an elegant one, nonetheless. (Legato made sure of that.) “Bunny boy… no, no, Anon,” he said, with a quick wag of a manicured finger, “I am no mere commoner! I believe the words you’re looking for are...”
“Magnificent–”
“–beautiful–”
“–star!”Ignore the fiery ghosts hovering above Legato, shining that spotlight directly onto him. They aren’t important.
@enter-at-your-own-peril ‘s bunny ears really could’ve used some extra fabric or something--
“You’re sightseeing? Out here?” Panpipe probably shouldn’t have been all that surprised, come to think of it. The news that he was behind “Count Legato’s” grand play might not have traveled very far yet, and he supposed an adventurous Dreamsider or two might want to visit Organetto to see whether or not the village was truly haunted. But, that stunt aside, he couldn’t see why else anyone would care to fly over the Intermezzo Wall to visit... especially with flashy, lively Trebleopolis right on the other side. There was a reason why visitors flocked there, instead. Dark and gloomy Organetto village wasn’t exactly much of a tourist trap. Well, unless those tourists happened to be the Legendary Hero type. But if this kid was part of some epic quest, he’d missed the others by a long shot. They had to be several kingdoms away, at this point. Speaking of which... Panpipe glanced upwards, at the stranger’s weird-looking ears. Ear shapes and patterns were always a telltale sign of which kingdom a Dreamsider hailed from, but Panpipe had a bit of trouble placing that particular style. Something about those ears just seemed a bit too... off. “Which kingdom are you from, anyway?”
// At least he’s not kidnapping others for his PLAYS yet??? ( @lensflaired !!! )
