Since heatwave season seems to be upon us again, this is just a reminder to international Tumblr that most European houses and some public spaces do not have air conditioning and are insulated to trap the heat against our cold winters, meaning that there is nowhere to escape hot weather and  temperatures you may find laughably cool can be lethal over here.

Every year, people die in those 30-40C European heatwaves, and every year, non-Euro Tumblr treats this tragedy like a joke.

Please let’s stop doing that.

Nearly a week later, I can offer a handy translation guide for comments on this post!

Our homeless/elderly/disabled/young children do better than you: I don’t think of those groups as people, so I automatically parsed the word  ‘people’ in the original post as ‘healthy able-bodied young adults’ and consequently I have misunderstood the problem

I live/d in a desert: I have no idea what European summers are like and I’m talking out of my ass

Just drink water: I think Europeans are stupid

Just buy a fan/a dehumidifier/a swamp cooler: I think Europeans are stupid and I’m unaware that most people have to spend a majority of their time outside their homes/cannot control their environment 24/7

Just install air conditioning:

I am a child with no concept of how much aircon costs to install and run

I am an adult, but I have no concept of how rarely aircon is needed in northern Europe

I am an adult, but I have no concept of how difficult-bordering-on-impossible aircon is to install in 100-year-old buildings

Get a window air conditioner: I think putting a gigantic metal heat sink through your double glazing is a great idea and it absolutely won’t freeze your house in winter

Why doesn’t your government do something: Due to misplaced idealism, I think your governments are competent and care for their people

We’re laughing at you complaining about the heat, not at the deaths: I don’t understand cause and effect

It’s not that bad, grow up:

I don’t know what ‘acclimatisation’ means

I have never been without air conditioning for more than the five minutes it takes me to get from house to car or car to destination

I don’t think people should be able to complain about their own lives on their own blogs to their own friends

Europe laughs at us all the time so we should be able to do the same:

I am an insecure, petty and spiteful individual

Any of the above: I want you to prove to me that these deaths were ‘legitimate’ in order to earn my sympathy, otherwise I’m going to assume that those people deserved to die

the thing is, i still think mack’s going to be the one that dies. and i don’t do theorising all that oftne, but bear with me.

i think that we were meant to think that both mack and fitz picking up and having the necklace are red herrings. what if they’re not? in my head, and the idea that i had, is that fitz is going to get the necklace for mack. i may need a rewatch, but it looks like he’s getting it out of somewhere. a toolbox, maybe? then you have to ask yourself the question: why would fitz ever have a necklace. they obviously introduced mack’s religious side to lead up to this event, we saw elena give him the necklace and so we thought “oh okay well he’s not gonna die”, but i think it’s gonna circle right around to him.

chloe’s been the one that’s said that the death in the finale is the worst they’ve seen + totally heartbreaking. it would make sense, then, that it’s henry simmons because she works with him so much, and everyone loves mack. there aren’t any contrasting opinions on him. he’s had his backstory with his brother (the only other person that’s really had that is may, and i don’t think she’s on the list), so i feel like that was put in place this series as a kind of “well we’ve filled his backstory out”. maybe then his younger brother could come in and replace him? (ok that’s a wild theory but it’s something my mum said when we first watched the episode with his little bro)

i definitely think the shot of fitz was in there to make us panic for a week

coulson + daisy are never gonna die, they’re too precious to both fandom and lore. coulson sells things; people might not like him this series (personally i still love him as a character even if i don’t agree with some of the things he’s done/said) but he sells merchandise. daisy’s not gonna die, she had the hive possession plot, she’s daisy johnson for god’s sake. may, i leaned towards last series but i doubt it. fitzsimmons, again, if the writers noticed how much people hated the love triangle plot, they should know that doing anything but lightly scuffing either of them up would turn people away. also, they’re jed and mo, i know that the whedons have a history of “killing off” the happy ones, but lbr. would they kill off themselves? lincoln is my second choice, just because that would be heartbreaking, especially for daisy, and he’s sort of been floating around for the last few episodes.

elena and joey? possibly joey as collateral. which would upset me buckets and buckets because i love joey, precious pure sunshine joey. they said “one” person is going to die, but last year there were three. my money is either on: mack, lincoln and talbot; mack, joey and talbor; or, mack, lincoln and joey. they’re my three choices, all three would give us some kind of emotional reaction, all three could die and still keep the show in tact.

but i don’t want anyone to die, and i know i’m going to be rekt after last week’s episode. so let’s circle together and join our hands and pray that someone didn’t really go into space, they just went on space mountain and it broke down.
