when kafka said “all the love in the world is useless when there is total lack of understanding” and when richard siken said “if you love me, you don’t love me in a way I understand.”
anne carson
when anaïs nin said “i dont want worship. i want understanding”
When orwell said: “Perhaps one did not want to be loved so much as to be understood.”

Little Richard Siken in my head: Every morning the same big and little words, all spelling out desire, all spelling out "You will be alone always and then you will die."

ok u know what. golden hour is great and all, but u know what time of day is super underappreciated??? BLUE hour
that time of day right after the sun sets or right before it rises…. *chef kiss* love that
i think sometimes about how, for better or worse, we're truly at the end of an era in earth's history. the sixth mass extinction has been underway since the north american megafauna died out 10,000 years ago, and even if we stall or reverse climate change now (which is very unlikely) the trajectory in terms of species loss is pretty well cemented. the blue whale is the biggest animal to ever live. bigger than any dinosaur or prehistoric mammal. and we're living alongside it in its dying days. where we stand now is like getting to see the dinosaurs the day before the meteor hit. there's something really haunting about knowing that, going outside and walking between the trees and knowing these are the very last moments it will be like this.
there is a way to look at this and be depressed, but there's also a way to look at this and feel incredibly privileged, on a cosmic scale. mass extinctions are, after all, natural events. we (as an animal species and a part of nature ourselves) happen to be causing this one. in that way we can related to the earliest cyanobacteria, who caused they great oxygenation event through their photosynthesis, and killed off the majority of existing life on earth (which was anaerobic). a couple of polluters, separated by 2 billion years and our particular choice of noxious emissions, but ultimately more alike than we are different. the thing that makes it unique to live today is that the cyanobacteria couldn't have known what was happen and where they were headed, and we do.
idk. maybe next time you go outside, think about that, if you've ever wished you could've seen the dinosaurs before they died. well, you can. there isn't much longer though. make the most of it.
every single word i use in english is a shot in the dark does that mean what i think it does is that even a word or did i badly traslate it from one of the other languages i know is it used like that who knows not me a mystery whatever part of my brain is responsible for writing correctly has been out of business a long while

i dont claim to be an expert on love but i think theres something to like… ok so my girlfriend got undertale on the switch a while back, right? and she’s definitely not a bad videogamer but it takes practice yknow, esp when youre doing a neutral route and actually fight stuff. so when she got to the hardest bosses i took the controller and beat them for her. not because she couldn’t, but because i love her. and that’s what my brother did when i was a kid playing sonic adventure 2 or whatever, not because i was dumb but because he was good at it and he loved me. and when i want my girlfriend to read something (a post, an essay, a novel) but she’s too tired to actually read so it i read it to her and i do silly voices and she laughs and we have more fun that way. when you hand a water bottle to your friend and they open it without you even having to ask. when you spent a million years fixing the flat tire on your bike and then your dad just takes the tools and does it for you. its not a judgement, it’s just a service. you could do it yourself, but why should you have to when you are loved?
the catholic church robbed me of my dream life and i’m not talking about gay marriage or whatever i’m talking about the fact i will never be able to be a priest in rural alpine italy who slips socialism and heresies into the sunday sermon and spends the rest of the time daydrinking and cheating on god with the unexplicably sexy perpetua no i’m not religious and i’m not even baptized i just like rituals, long cons, and church paraphernalia
