my god it's been a fucking Week

#i went to an art exhibition with my partner and my family last sunday #then stayed at my parents place until monday #then stayed one night in my own home before going to another exhibition with my partner on tuesday and then to their place #where we made food and raspberry+white chocolate muffins (this was lovely!!)#then did a day trip to a small island with my mom where we'd booked a two hour sauna+swimming in the sea reservation (also lovely!!)#then. back to my parents place again and off to see a summer theater performance. at this point i realised i've spent too much time #with my family recently and everything they did was starting to annoy me #which was unfortunate!! because friday morning me and my parents and my sister packed into the car and drove FIVE FUCKING HOURS #and shared one single hotel room #the point of the trip was my aunts funeral so you know. the athomsphere in that hotel room was not great #and i was still getting annoyed by everything </3 #the funeral itself was beautiful and it was nice to see my dad's side of the family but it was also sad and exhausting #and then we had to drive five hours back #im finally back in my own home and will proceed to do nothing but lay on my ass until thursday

If you are young and fit and healthy, get a hobby you can do while ill. Something that brings you joy and you can still enjoy while laid out with flu or whatever.

Future you will thank you for not pinning your ability to enjoy and get any sense of achievement on having the base energy levels of a teenager.

Sure, you might still be dancing and playing tennis and running marathons in your 80s. Or you might be walking short distances with a cane between breath stops in your 30s, and really glad past-you found those breath stops were so much more enjoyable if you brought a pencil and some paper to draw the pigeons you were sharing a bench with.

“Teachers are often unaware of the gender distribution of talk in their classrooms. They usually consider that they give equal amounts of attention to girls and boys, and it is only when they make a tape recording that they realize that boys are dominating the interactions. Dale Spender, an Australian feminist who has been a strong advocate of female rights in this area, noted that teachers who tried to restore the balance by deliberately ‘favouring’ the girls were astounded to find that despite their efforts they continued to devote more time to the boys in their classrooms. Another study reported that a male science teacher who managed to create an atmosphere in which girls and boys contributed more equally to discussion felt that he was devoting 90 per cent of his attention to the girls. And so did his male pupils. They complained vociferously that the girls were getting too much talking time. In other public contexts, too, such as seminars and debates, when women and men are deliberately given an equal amount of the highly valued talking time, there is often a perception that they are getting more than their fair share. Dale Spender explains this as follows: “The talkativeness of women has been gauged in comparison not with men but with silence. Women have not been judged on the grounds of whether they talk more than men, but of whether they talk more than silent women.” In other words, if women talk at all, this may be perceived as ‘too much’ by men who expect them to provide a silent, decorative background in many social contexts.”

#ironically!! this also happens in classes for teaching students!!!!#my home group of 24 has 4 men in the classes where it's just us but they definitely speak more than 1/6th of the time #and it feels like they get attention from the professors a lot more easily
