I just wanna say, I’m not 100% up to date with all this bullshit about “favorites” in the Arcana community and why you should and shouldn’t like your favorites. But;
A lot (not all) of people who say Julian is their favorite are like;
“Julian is such a cute little cAnoN bottom, Julian is such a messy disaster. Julian is so clumsy and stupid but it’s so cute! Julian’s so dramatic and funny! What a precious little baby!”
I get it, Julian is all, if not most of those things. He’s very submissive, he’s pretty big for the dramatic part, he’s clumsy and don’t get me wrong, he is precious. But the people who preach this are the people that are for “fanon” Julian, meaning this is all they see him as.
If Julian is going to be your favorite and you give the reasons why (not saying these can’t be some of the reasons why), give his character some actual background and more justice than that?
Talk about how Julian found out the cure for an entire city, even if he was helped along the way. Talk about how in the beginning of his route, he had no memories of him and MC’s past together, but he stopped in the middle of the streets to save MC and nurse them to help all while knowing this person could turn him in or hurt him.
Talk about how when Julian got up to the Count’s room the night of the murder, and his room was ablaze, he still ran in there to see if the Count was still alive, even though Julian’s goal was to go there to kill him to save the city.
Talk about how Julian runs errands for Mazelinka because he doesn’t want her running around and doing things because she already does so much for him.
Talk about how Julian loves to tell stories and dance on tables and laugh and have a good time and how he’s never truly too scared to be himself. Talk about how he LOVES to talk and how passionate he is.
Talk about how Julian loves his sister so, so much and the only reason he didn’t talk to her for so long was because he didn’t want to get her in trouble with the law, how he did it for her protection.
Talk about how even in the worst of situation, Julian always puts others before himself. Always.
Talk about Julian!
FUCKIN PREACH!
I fell in love with him after seeing his spunkiness.
His heart is whole, but very daring.
He makes dumb decisions and acknowledges them to learn for future reference.
He is extremely smart.
He puts others ahead of him.
He accepts you telling him what he needs to hear, not what he wants to hear.
He needs repair, something I love to help along with.
He is human, imperfect, flawed, intelligent, selfless, adventurous, loving, and flamboyant.
I relate to him in all aspects, especially with getting myself down unconsciously. And watching his character develop has taught me to relieve myself of my self doubt and guilt and to be free and love myself.
Julian is beautiful. And that is why his character touches me and inspires me.
A-FREAKING-MEN
Julian is my favorite and i think his route is the best too.
He always will sacrifice himself for the greater good. He would do anything for the people he loves. Literally ANYTHING.
He has a knack for adventure. he loves the exploration and having fun in different worlds with who he loves. He always makes things fun. Whether it’s pure wholehearted fun, or fun, he still finds ways to make heavy situations lighter. while you were on your way to fight the actual DEVIL, he used huge jellyfish as trampolines. he dances with MC carefree and smoothly.
He’s brave. He’ll take every bullet for who he loves. Even when he’s clearly terrified he will crack a joke and/or flirt to lift your spirits and lift his own at the same time.
His character development was so immense and amazing during his route. from someone who constantly blamed himself for everything and was scared of what “he did” thought he deserves all punishment in the world and pushes people away when they try to help while he tries to sacrifice himself every 5 seconds because he thinks he deserves it, to someone who realizes he needs help and accepts love and realizes not everything is his fault and he isn’t a monster.
He went from being on the run by himself to killing the Devil with MC and a whole team of friends and family behind him.
Mazelinka and Portia even mention that He worries when you’re not around and he worries himself sick about if you’re okay and if you got home safely.
even though he’s extremely intelligent, he does do some dumb things but that adds to the charm of his character. he’s funny. his jokes are sarcastic and range from smart to silly.
He forced himself to be alone but he truly never wants to be alone. He always wanted to help people. MC taught him he could help himself at the same time. This changed his life. He even mentioned that helping people was his goal.
when he falls in love he falls in love fully. he dives in. he lets it fully consume him. although the was hesitant at first, he finally lets it convince every inch of his heart and his mind and it never would leave. he makes you his air and you would make him yours. You had each other. Another ting that was shown in his route was every single thing that happened in that route happened with julian and MC by each other’s side.
Julian is loyal. he’s your partner in crime. your best friend. he’s a brother. a lover. a adventurer. a doctor. a healer. a protector.
And yes his chaotic switch ways and his eagerness to please by doing whatever you want him to do because he wants you be the happiest you can be are also part of his charm but there are so many things that go deeper than that that make me love him so.
i can go on and on. but all these reasons are what makes him my fictional loml🥺✨
