Uli Aeducan as a Companion
- The disgraced Dwarven Princess of Orzammar hell-bent of regaining control of her life. Traumatized from her older brother's murder and her younger brother's betrayal, she has fought her entire life to prove that she is fit to sit amongst the ranks of her proud ancestors. Only to have it all ripped away from her. She is fierce, stubborn, and blunt with a curious streak.
- She will be found on the outskirts near the frostback mountains covered in blood and starving. She is very defensive and frightened after being exhiled and seeing the surface for the first time. She is immediately extremely demanding of their help. The player can either leave her there presumably for dead or recruit her into the party.
Approval and Allyship
-Uli approves of choices that offer the Warden more power through any means necessary as long as it serves the greater good (according to her worldview). Acts of revenge and justice are things she finds a deep understanding in. She respects people who have done what they must to survive and come out stronger or hardened. She believes that her redemption lies in curing the blight and escaping the wardens once it's over. She intends to use the armies and allies she gains to eventually overthrow her younger traitor brother. She isn't really concerned with little things or stopping to help everyone who comes crawling. If the Warden wants to occasionally indulge in more questionable or morally dubious choices, she will look the other way most of the time.
-She enjoys inquisitive people, and loves discussing aspects of her culture and history. She's very proud of it but also carries some xenophobic traits upon first arriving at the surface. She's very likely to make an occasional ignorant comment and piss some people off without really understanding what she's saying. Her sheltered, rich girl background occasionally comes back to bite her when she interacts with common people. Making her a poor negotiator.
-She wants to go home, but feels lost in feeling like she has no one back home who needs her anymore. She's managed to mostly shove this down in favor of reclaiming her place as Princess. Mostly fueled by her rage and quest for justice for her fallen family. Despite feeling lost in finding a way to return to Orzammar, she feels even more out of place on the surface. Connection has never been easy for her, even back in Orzammar. It's even more obvious how awkward and out of place she feels in Ferelden.
- Usually, she keeps to herself and comes across very high maintenance and full of herself at the start. She is defensive and trying to feel in control of her situation. But if the Warden can overcome her brash introduction and personality and takes an interest in her and her background, she can start letting her guard down. With good or high approval, she becomes very protective of the warden. Her trust is slow to earn, as the trauma of her most recent betrayal has left her scarred. But if they find a friend in her, she will stick by them with fierce loyalty.
-Has friendly banter with Zevran, Morrigan, Sten and Shale. Will have banter that hints at an early crush on Sten. Frequently flusters at Zevran's flirting whereas others may act annoyed or brush it off. Revealing that she is remarkably susceptible to flattery. If not romanced, she forms a romantic relationship with Zevran.
- Will leave the party if the Warden does not bring her to Orzammar to confront Bhelen no matter the status of friendship, and she will consider this a complete betrayal. Will challenge the Warden to a duel to the death once they return to camp where they will be forced to kill her.
- The player also has the opportunity to betray her and make a deal with Bhelen to hand her over to him in exchange for a quick path to gaining his alliance. To which she will be dragged from the room kicking and screaming- never to be seen again. Presumably imprisoned or dead after this.
Major Quest Decision Approvals
• Isolde Sacrifices herself for Connor
• Help defend Redcliffe from darkspawn
• Defile the Urn of Sacred Ashes
• Side with the Mages at the Circle
• Side with Zathrian to gain Dalish favor
• Crown Bhelen King (this is decision is critical to her potential endings)
• Preserve the Anvil of the Void
• Crown Alistair King and ally with Queen Anora by having him marry her.
• Spare and recruit Loghain
• The dark ritual is performed by either the Warden or an alternative.
Romance
- Uli is romancable by a male warden only. Despite her tough persona, she enjoys flattery and gifts. She is materialistic and vain, and enjoys being doted on and complimented.
- She has different reactions to races/classes that romance her. Most notable is if a dwarf player romances her, she will be harder to gain approval from. As her prejudice against other surface dwarves runs deep. If the player was a former castless, she will actively disapprove of flirty comments if a friendship hasn't been established first. If the Warden is an elf, they will need to educate her on their history (to which she has a lot of questions) and stomach a few ignorant comments from her as she's never seen elves before coming to Ferelden. She is slightly wary of mages but her curiosity is stronger. She finds magic to be very innovative and fascinating. She struggles to understand why it is so restricted when she views it as an obvious benefit despite the risks.
- Is a terrible flirt herself. Will show her affection by complimenting battle skills or efficiency. Only once she has a high approval rating. She finds expressing positive emotions to be embarrassing most of the time. So falling in love is a humiliating ordeal for her.
- Will sleep with the player character before full romance has been established but only with high approval. She is emotional after it happens and expresses her loneliness for the first time. As well as how strict her upbringing was that she was never allowed dalliances like this. And that she never really considered romance as an option for herself and thought she just wasn't interested in it. If the player character ends the romance and says this was a fling, she agrees that it's for the best but will become more withdrawn and cold towards them, and they lose a large amount approval points. A strong friendship with her after this is still possible if they regain the approval points. If they confess they have feelings for her, she tells them she needs time and is more surprised and shy towards them. Her greeting changes here to signify that she cares a lot more about them.
- Confession takes place during a scene where she explains her tattoos. She says her tattoos are incomplete due to her never getting married or having children. And that she felt incomplete without them and worried so much over it. But it doesn't worry her now. The player character touches the spaces she shows them. And they can confess their love for each other.
- Once in a relationship she is not into PDA and won't spontaneously kiss the warden outside of camp. But she will always move to protect them first in a fight and will react protectively if anyone slights them. She likes being close by and will try to find any excuse to walk beside them or to try and touch them/brush against them without being obvious. It's the most she can handle without feeling like a complete idiot.
Final Battle/Post-Archdemon:
If friends/allies: Uli proclaims her respect for the Warden and is shocked to admit how much she cares for them. She promises them her sword and her friendship whenever they need it. She says she must journey back to Orzammar to settle what's become of it. Despite everything, she can't completely put the past behind her. And that her people need protection from the darkspawn still. Her fight for all that it's worth, isn't over. She assures the Warden she will write to them. If the Warden dies defeating the archdemon, she has their history documented. Or if they are a dwarf she petitions them to be a paragon.
Bhelen Ending: It will be revealed in the epilogue that she was able to retake the throne after finally killing her brother. Orzammar is thriving after she establishes open trade to the surface. More opportunies are given to lower caste dwarves. She is busily researching ethical ways to push darkspwan swarms further into the deeproads and away from Orzammar. If in a relationship with Zevran (if he was recruited and they both were not romanced by the warden) she writes that they are doing well together.
Harromont ending: If Harromont was made king, Uli will not retake the throne. And will instead be arrested upon her return and questioned. She is reinstated as the commander of the armies, but has mysteriously stopped writing the warden. Seemingly having completely disappeared.
Romance- If they were in love and the warden dies killing the archdemon, she never marries or seeks love again. She builds a statue of them in her palace to remember them. If they survive, she offers for them to come with her to Orzammar.
Bhelen romance ending(s)-
- If the player character chooses to return with her, all non-dwarves would become her court-lover as she could never marry them publically. Ironically, if the player is a dwarf, they are the only race she will elevate the status of and be permitted to marry as they were also made a Paragon.
- The warden can also choose to not go with her to remain warden commander, which she doesn't hold against them. They remain in touch but the romance will be revealed to have slowly lost its grounds. She still holds them in extremely high respects as the years pass.
Harromont Romance ending:
- Upon returning with Uli, both the warden and Uli are arrested and questioned but are able to serve as a minor house, under the warden's last name to completley kill the aeducan line. Uli reluctantly relinquishes the aeducan house and agrees to become the commander of Harromont'a armies once again. Constantly fighting darkspawn and being in the deeproads sparks an obsession in her to find a way to kill them all before the next archdemon rises. It overtakes her completely. She starts experimenting with lyrium and taking it. The warden can do little but watch as their love slowly spirals into madness and paranoia. It is up to the player's interpretation as to what happens to their relationship.
- If the player did not return with her, the ending is the same as the ally Harromont ending.
