In universe this could be Pokey seeing a little bit of Paul in Steph, her own refusal to admit what she wants, (her and Pete literally have an “I don’t want you song” lol) and him deciding to force her hand

Out of universe it feels like an accidental meta commentary on how Steph is lacking her own I want song, and her holding up her phone, even as a bit, is reflective of how little we get to know about her in comparison to Grace and Pete
