Raven Girls
The Famous Heroine by Mary Balogh
One of the funniest Mary Balogh's books. I love when she writes funny fmc and quirky mmc, they're always a delight. So fmc is burguose and is suddenly trapped between aristocrats and she thinks mmc is a gay man (BOOM).
Are you bored of sober and serious MMC??
I don't cope with people who were unable to see them as a couple and only as friends. Mmc was in love for seven years with another woman, of course he won't forget her in a day. Also the way they feel protectiveness toward each other is AGSJEINDKE amazing. I think they develope a romance different from the usual historical romance and that's why I found them so endearing. The only problem is how short the book is, maybe with a little bit more chapters she could show more of their romantic side, although I think actions speak for themselves (and the way they feel towards each other and act to protect the other is enough).
Also mmc's response when he realizes fmc thought him gay!!!! This is not the first time Mary proves her respectfully towards queer community.
I also must admit that I have some preference towards mmc as I knew him before in "Lord Carew's Bride" so that must add some stars to the book.
As always a delight to read Mary Balogh. I certainly portrait mmc as Damson Idris and fmc as Honey Rose.
Not much to say other than I shed some tear near the end. I love how Mary portrayed Sam's feelings, especially considering the villain was her first love and how young she was when he met her. And the way she punch him!!!! Love her
My head canon for them are Willa Fitzgerald as Samantha and Lewis Pullman as Lord Carew 👀
I read somewhere that Mary Balogh has said she wants no love story for the villain (he's also the bad guy in Dark Angel) there's no way for him to redeem himself and I think that's one of the reasons why I love Mary Balogh's books so much! I want to see no evil man near my fmc. Sometimes men just deserves to rot in hell
SLIGHTLY MARRIED by MARY BALOGH
Wulfric, Adrian & Rannulf Bedwyn
"Except that Ralf had evaded the fate of the third son."
In The Raven Cycle, Adam is described as one (of three) of Ronan's identities, aka secrets (post) and by the time The Dreamer Trilogy occurs, one of Adam's identities (of three) is being Ronan's lover.
What a fucking duo. I will forever be in awe of their love for each other and what they mean to each other. They are like-a-second-self, an integral part of what makes both of their personhoods is the other person.
Also, going from Ronan's secret to lover? Yes, yes, yes.

chainsaw being a metaphor for ronan's heart and only knowing one name, which is adam's is so dear to me. she doesn't even call ronan ronan, but she does call adam 'atom'. ronan's heart only knowing one name, and thus, only loving one person ever, is so beautiful. given adams lack of love during his childhood, no other human could have given him what he needed (aka blue, or gansey romantically), im so glad adam and ronan are endgame and get married!

Childe Rowland draws his sword to fight the Elf King, Frontispiece from English Fairy Tales by John D. Batten (1902)
just remembered that one scene in The Raven King when Ronan is thinking about Adam going away for school and he says “I’m not asking him to leave, just to come back” someone light me on fire like actually
