cowboy gavries yes it's happening
For Indigenous History Month I've decided to try & have a Collie Parker Appreciation Week, because I love my guy and he deserves it💖 The AO3 collection for the event is here and we'll also be using the hashtag #CollieParkerAppreciationWeek on tumblr (and for folks who're on twitter feel free to use it there too! I don't personally use twitter but this doesn't have to be a tumblr only event) Also- as the rules in the AO3 collection specify- any Collie ships you might want to include are fine but your work MUST center Collie and in the case of fics be in his pov. There are a lot of fics in Collie's tag that actually just center white characters he's being shipped with while treating Collie as a prop, which is racist under any circumstances but would be especially inappropriate in an event meant to uplift a Lakota-Sioux character for Indigenous History Month, so please just be mindful and ensure your works are actually focusing on Collie💖 Please spread the word about this event, I would absolutely love to see as much of the fandom taking part as possible :)

Katara x Aang
Mature
Part 3 of 4
(Art by @javi_khoso on Twitter and @aphoticfirefly here on Tumblr)
She took a deep breath and looked down at his hands, large and inviting, currently clasped together on the table. “I am your doctor, Aang. AMA guidelines are very clear regarding relationships with patients. We are… definitely crossing those already. But there is one line I will not cross, not until I officially sign your medical clearance and discharge you as a patient.”
She paused to take another breath, and his expression was serious, brows slightly furrowed below the point of the arrow. “We cannot sleep together,” she made herself say, eyes darting furtively around them as if expecting someone—the American Medical Association, perhaps—to jump out from behind a fern.
Aang, for his part, nodded slowly and picked up his glass to take a quick sip of water while her stomach turned itself into knots awaiting his answer. When he lifted his eyes to hers, they were filled with a now familiar determination. “I understand, Katara. If that is the line, you don’t have to worry about me pushing it.”
She released a measured sigh, trying to hide the depth of her relief. “Good, that's… good.”
He looked down and then up again, a twinkle of mischief in his eye. “But… hypothetically if a patient is incredibly compliant…if he does his icing protocol perfectly, and really pushes through his stretches, and does exactly—” he made an exaggerated face, leaning towards her across the table—“what his brilliant, beautiful doctor tells him to do… how fast could said patient get signed off?”
Kataang Week 2026
Special thanks to tumblr user @1v31182m5 for allowing us to use this artwork!
What is Kataang Week?
Kataang Week is when we, as a corner of the fandom, celebrate the ship Kataang on Tumblr! The prompts for Kataang Week 2026 were submitted by fans last month. We then went through four rounds of voting over the last few weeks to end up with these prompts, selected by Kataangers.
Cool, when is it?
It begins on the final Monday of July and runs through the following Monday. This year Kataang Week 2026 starts on Monday, July 27th and ends on Monday, August 3rd.
Who are the mods?
@airbender-dacyon AKA Mod Dan: A Kataang fanfic writer who prefers fluff, but also loves some drama and angst. Mod Dan started writing Kataang stories in 2013 and has helped organize Kataang Week since 2016.
@cabbageslost AKA Mod Cabby: She first watched AtLA with her teens following Covid, and has been rooting for Kataang ever since.
Kataang Week is also being hosted by @dailykataang on Twitter again this year!
How do I participate?
The most common ways to participate are by creating art or writing a fic and posting it online. Some people try and create something for every day while others only fill one or two prompts.
As always, we want to reassure you that it’s perfectly okay not to do every prompt! We just hope to have lovely pieces to share on each day.
But I can’t draw or write!
That’s totally fine - there are more ways to participate! You can sing a song, create a graphic, write a poem - just about anything really. You can also show your support by reblogging, liking, and commenting on other people’s contributions.
What are the prompts?
The following will be the running order for Kataang Week 2026:
Soulmates - Monday, July 27th
Domestic Life - Tuesday, July 28th
Jealousy - Wednesday, July 29th
Growing Together - Thursday, July 30th
Arranged Marriage - Friday, July 31st
Cloudbabies - Saturday, August 1st
Adult Intimacy - Sunday, August 2nd
Free Day* - Monday, August 3rd
*As always, there is a Free Day at the end of the week. You can use this day to post anything you’d like! It can be a prompt that didn’t receive enough votes or something you’ve been wanting to work on, anything goes!
How should I tag my work?
The easiest way for us to find your work so we can reblog it to this blog is by using the tag “kataang week”. Using “kataang” and “kataangtag” also help. You must tag one of the three in your first five tags otherwise it doesn’t appear in the search. It is also helpful to tag us directly with @kataang-week.
Sometimes even properly tagged posts may not appear when we search the tags, so if you do not see your content reblogged, please let us know.
Once we’ve reblogged it to this blog we add our own tags (a prompt tag and a user tag) for easy organization. This means we can find all the work for one prompt or all the work from one user in one easy click (this also means that if you have changed your username since participating last year you need to let us know so we can update your tag!)
Can I post my stuff other places online too?
Of course you can! However, we won’t be able to reblog anything that isn’t a Tumblr post.
Kataang Week is also being hosted by @dailykataang on Twitter again this year. Check in over there for some additional creations by talented creators.
If you're on Discord, the @kataang-discord has said they'd be also discussing this event, and having a "WIP Wednesday" where you'd be able to share peeks of what you've got going on and get some feedback.
For those of you who will be posting your works on AO3, feel free to add your fic to our AO3 collection.
Anything else to keep in mind?
If you are unable to complete a prompt in time, please do not fret. You can alert this blog by mentioning it in your post (ex. @kataang-week) or messaging one of the mods and your content will still be shared even if it is a week (or a month - or sometimes more!) late.
Please create your own original pieces. We do not accept AI-made fanworks.
We only accept new works created for the prompts of this year's Kataang Week, not works that are retroactively said to be created for the event. However, you may create something that fills a prompt for an ongoing work such as a new chapter in a multi-chapter fic or an ongoing series. See this ask for more information.
If your work contains images, please consider adding alt text to make your work accessible. Adding alt text is NOT a requirement to participate in the event. See this post for more information on images and alt text.
We also like to post WIP for Kataang Week and encourage everyone else to do so as well - we reblog it here for motivation!
As always, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, don’t hesitate to send an ask. Don’t forget to reblog this as well to help spread the word!
Good luck, Kataangers, and happy content creating! 😊

Had a few DMs asking about writing intimacy and how I approach it specifically. Figured I’d give some hot (ha) tips for anyone who’s interested. This list is for sure not exhaustive but it’s what I’m most often doing as I choreograph these scenes.
My credentials: fic writer for 20 plus years, professional technical writer for 15 (not a lot of erotica here, but lots of sentence structure know-how), avid reader.
Overall approach: So, obviously, nothing about this is to indicate any rules around writing erotica or writing at all really, but it’s the style I’ve built around it over the years that resonates most with me. Most of the erotica I write depends on connection—devotion and vulnerability. The act itself is usually treated as another form of communication.
The Tips
1.) Ground the scene in sensation. Not just erotic sensation but the temperature of the room, the way surfaces feel—particularly in contrast. Sprinkle in taste and touch and even smell (not in like… a weird way haha).
2.) Treat it almost like a conversation, one that goes beyond the physical but engages the dynamics of their relationship. Make these scenes specific to the world you’ve built around them. Specific to who they are as characters and their dynamics.
3.) Vary sentence structure. Drawn out languid sentences for breathless physical actions. Short and punchy sentences reflect a more frantic or desperate pace of events.
4.) Come back to emotion. How does the physical action affect the emotional state of the character?
5.) Try not to overuse pronouns: she moved, he touched etc. It can start to feel clinical and repetitive.
6.) Avoid purple prose but not the poetry. Make the metaphors and similes specific to the characters and punchy. Use them to convey depth and emotion.
7.) Control the pacing: huge part of writing erotica is building the anticipation and the tension. Don’t rush them to the finish line. Linger in a touch, in a look, let the pacing breathe where you can. Use your sentence flow to control the readers heart rate. Even a passionate and quick encounter can carry weight and resonance when you tie it back to emotions and ground it physically.
8.) Be as clear as you can where everyone’s body parts are. It’s a fine line to walk here, but have a very clear picture in your head of where people’s hands are haha. Take your time undressing and navigating the process—played right it adds to the scene and the connection instead of detracting from it.
9.) Call it what it is. Don’t be afraid to be crass in the right moments. Even tender ones.
10.) Write the aftercare. It’s important and realistic and leaves lots of opportunities for romance and connection. Wiping hands and cleaning up, give the reader those moments, it grounds the scene.
