So @julietasgf did a post talking about what Lucy Gray would wear in a modern setting, and it inspired me to make this post soooooo:

Sejanus Plinth’s (modern) wardrobe & a few random headcannons:

Headcannons:

This man CANNOT dress for the weather and gave his ma heart attacks every time he went outside in the snow with a t-shirt on. (Cut to him being bundled up like a penguin after his ma pulled him back inside when he was little).

He wears a LOT of jewelry because his father never let him when he was younger.

He thinks that the colors that look best on him are green and white, but his favorite color is red.

He wears scrubs 50% of the time, so he really likes dressing up when he can.

Marcus’s (modern) wardrobe & a few random headcannons:

Headcannons:

Contrary to Sejanus, he HATES dressing up. Sejanus has to wrestle him into formal clothes when they’re going out to a nice restaurant.

Wears carhartt “for his job” and mentions this a LOT (we know you just like the look of it Marcus, you’re not fooling anyone)

He thinks the colors that look best on him are brown and blue

NEVER used to wear jewelry (again because he worked in construction) but Sejanus buys it for him anyway so he eventually starts wearing it

I’ve entertained the idea that Sejanus was drawn to Coriolanus because he’s got daddy issues and Coriolanus is very similar to Strabo (in some ways, anyways).

But the more I think about it, the longer I believe that headcanon doesn’t really hold up.

Because I think what actually draws Sejanus to people is kindness. People who are good, who are selfless, people who go out of their way to help others. It’s the reason why he still remembers Marcus doing something nice to him ten years later. Marcus didn’t have to help him with the swelling in his hand, and he still did. It’s such a small gesture but it speaks volumes to what Sejanus values in a person.

And the thing about snowjanus (and I’m basing this in the book only) is that Coriolanus was only ever nice to Sejanus. All the horrible stuff he thinks about him and his family he never says out loud. From Sejanus’s perspective, Coriolanus was the only person in the entirety of the Capitol who treated him with the barest decency. It’s easy to see how he could mistake Coriolanus not being openly horrible to him for kindness.

I also have the headcanon they weren’t really close until the 10th Games — and it’s during this period where they get closer and Sejanus’s opinion of Coriolanus as a good person cements. Because again, he’s not privy to Coriolanus thoughts, so what he sees is a fellow classmate who goes above and beyond to help his tribute, that cheats and defies the system to protect her (just like Sejanus does) and even jokes about being a rebel.

To Sejanus, Coriolanus was only ever a good friend. A good person. How could he not be drawn to that?

tldr: the thing that actually draws Sejanus to Coriolanus is that he perceives him as a good and decent person. (Same thing that attracted Lucy Gray to Coriolanus in the first place and the same thing that made Marcus unforgettable to Sejanus).

Clark’s introducing her around.  “This is my good friend, Diana, she’s in from out of town.”

You blink, and take a step back in fear.  You’ve never seen an 11 before.

The day Bruce Wayne shows up for his long promised interview with Lois Lane, you can’t help it, the mug your holding drops from your fingers and sends a shock of hot coffee and ceramic shards across the floor.

Clark stops a few feet away and squints at you worriedly from behind those ridiculous glasses you’re 99% sure he doesn’t actually need, and asks tentatively, “Everything all right?”

You ignore him in favor of staring at the inky dark numerals hovering over the beaming fool gesticulating some fantastic yacht story for a gaggle of secretaries and minor columnists.

That’s it. Your gift has officially gone haywire. There is no other explanation. Because there is absolutely no way that Brucie Wayne is a 10.

At this point, you’ve seen it all. Miled manner reporters and billionaires at a 10 and a model-like woman at 11. You were really starting to doubt your power. The day you really stopped believeing in it was when Bruce Wayne came for another visit, and this time with a kid. The kid couldn’t be more than 10 years old, a bit on the short side.

He was an 8.

You wonder how nobody at the daily planet noticed that Clarke was Superman with glasses. You wonder why you didn’t notice. You wonder why nobody put two and two together that Diana Prince and Wonder Woman looked exactly the same. You look in the mirror as the realization hit you and you see your own number change from a 3 to a 9.

For the vampire au, whats the long term look like for coriolanus and sejanus? Does Sejanus ever develop reservartions about their relationship? Does coriolanus ever want Sejanus to partake? Does anyone ever find out??

I don’t think there is much of a long-term for Coriolanus and Sejanus in the vampire AU. Coriolanus’ desire to cannibalize everything that Sejanus is + Sejanus’ suicidal tendencies = a recipe for disaster. I think Sejanus would either (a) eventually want more from their relationship and be brave enough to ask for it, or (b) be self aware enough to realize he’s using Coriolanus to self-harm and want to alter their relationship away from feeding to something healthier. Either way, it would cause serious complications. Either way, Coriolanus would see it as a betrayal, and Sejanus would see his reaction as a rejection. Because either way, Sejanus setting a boundary will never be okay with Coriolanus. If Sejanus wants more — well, Coriolanus can’t be with him publicly without ruining his reputation, and he also can’t break up with Sejanus without risking Sejanus telling people about the whole vampirism thing. Trapped. If Sejanus wants to slow down and change the relationship — well, there goes Coriolanus’ access to sustenance, and how dare Sejanus take that away from him. Cue implosion. Maybe just in time for the tenth Games to start.

RE: Sejanus partaking, I don’t think either of them would want that. The appeal, for Sejanus, is being needed. Coriolanus doesn’t just want him — he needs him, like food, like air, needs him to be strong and healthy and happy. That’s what attracts Sejanus, belonging to someone like that. But the rest of it? Sejanus is weirded out by it. He thinks it’s gross. The blood-drinking is not sexy to him; Coriolanus’ desperation is. And he has a lot of complicated feelings about his own participation in the ritual as it is: Capitol feeding on District, literally sucking the life out, and him allowing it to happen. And Coriolanus would never reciprocate by giving himself to Sejanus in that way. Give his own lifeblood — Snow lifeblood — and therefore his power to make a District boy stronger? It’s not something I can imagine him being okay with. It sounds terrible (because Coriolanus is terrible) but he wouldn’t want to chance Sejanus becoming stronger than him. He wants Sejanus weak and devoted and adoring. Reciprocating would put that kind of control in jeopardy. The only way Coriolanus would ever go for it is if they sourced the blood from someone else — and even then, he’d be too jealous to let Sejanus drink it.

If anyone ever found out, it would be Coriolanus’ fault. Sejanus is a great secret keeper.

I can’t get Reaper out of my head. Out of all the characters, he truly stays with you. He was so raw and had a rage so many can relate to. One thing that truly gut punched me was the parallels to real life. The outrage from the crowd as a flag was torn down. Meanwhile not a word for the countless lifeless bodies of children. My heart hurt for Reaper, and my heart breaks for what’s happening in Palestine.
