It makes me deeply uncomfortable seeing a bunch of middle aged people mostly men go on and on about how annoying this teenage girl was. Saying they would kick her out of their house because she had feelings about losing every one of her caregivers and being emotionally neglected. Like I really hope these people don’t have children. It’s honestly amazing that girl wasn’t more screwed up and acting out more. Like it’s been over 20 years and people will not get over her yelling get out.
It also just comes off as so weird because I guarantee these people were far more annoying than her as a teen. It’s my leading theory to why people hate her so much.
Dawn Summers is a character where I kept waiting and waiting for it to become clear why people hated her so much, and it literally never came. There is one (1) episode in which I find her unlikable and it's a season 6 episode where she's really fucking going through it, like everyone else that season. A guy I know has called her his least favourite character in fiction and I'm standing here like SHE DID LITERALLY NOTHING WRONG!!! SHE WAS A TEENAGER WITH NO POWERS HAVING TO DEAL WITH MONSTERS EVERY WEEK!!!!!!! Like I would react poorly too if I learned I was retconned into existence as a key and all my memories are fake and then my sister sacrificed herself so I could live a normal life and also there are vampires everywhere. Dawn Summers all the way baby.
Dawn Summers is the literal definition of a teenage girl who was/is hated because she’s a teenage girl. She isn’t even like a lot of other characters on here where she’s genuinely really flawed but it can be hard to have a nuanced discussion about her because of fandom misogyny she’s just a teenage girl.
Too the people who think she’s annoying I have news you were just as “annoying” at 14 and you probably would have been more annoying going through everything she went through.

Classic example of people hating a Black woman for "getting in the way" of a more popular ship. Has been called abusive for fairly banal mistakes so as to make other love interests appear morally superior. Often has her struggles swept to the side in favor of having her emotionally support other (often male) characters.
She is the best character on the show. She is a time traveling angel who saved the multiverse. She fed the tears the virgin Mary shed at the crucifixion to the devil. She's a union woman. She's kept a maple preserved corpse in her back room for days. She' seen the man she loves die at least 1,384 times. She's so so awesome guys. Best character of all time
I've seen multiple people call her evil for…. Saving the world? Or moving to town? It's so very strange…. People saying every bad thing that happens in the show is her fault somehow? It's truly baffling…. Even when videos are soley about her people still find a way to center men or white characters… The show got a thousand times better when she arrived and it was already very very good💖 People scrape and claw to find every bad thing she's done to hold against her while simultaneously not engaging with her actually interesting flaws… People call her the "safe, boring, bland" love interest for a character when not only is this not true, she's also not just his love interest! She's her own character! And she loves unions and melting cops eyeballs from their skulls💖 It is truly nauseating looking at what people say about her….

in an alternate universe while being haunted by ghosts, tabitha broke her boyfriend's beloved typewriter. and somehow that makes her evil. nevermind that there were fucking ghosts influencing her and she felt bad about it. or that this was an alternate universe and main tabitha never did it. tabitha was a beautiful character who was a literal angel who fit seamlessly into the gang. she's incredible. everyone go watch 6x11 "angels in america" as she's great in it.
