There are times when the world seems indifferent, but that doesn't mean you're indifferent to the world. Your existence continues to leave marks, even if you can't see them now.

im still on the library grind jsyk. i still don't understand why it isn't getting the same love. its free books, movies, music, and events... if your town has one, or a nearby town has one, get a library card asap. its a wonderful thing to have. a lot of them offer services you might not expect, like classes in financial planning or job hunting or even cooking and languages :) and of course, lots and lots and lots of books!!!
when you have very little space, the fact that you are only borrowing the books is a bonus, you don't need to find a means of permanent storage for them. the variety, for example taking out a different cookbook every month, can really keep things interesting.
its also an "excuse to get out" that doesn't inherently cost anything. believe me, there is a big difference in experience between just picking something on the internet to stream vs going to the library, browsing the DVD rack, picking something totally new to you, and giving it a try :)
i'm not much of a fiction fan lately, but nothing is more relaxing than a big coffee-table book of photography, or a guide to some new skill like pottery. there's a quietness to it. nobody ever dies in a book of pottery, can't say that about newspapers or novels lol. and of course you may suprise yourself if you pick up something intellectually "heavy", with how satisfying it is to finish a gigantic tome and understand some facet of the world in a new way.
so if you don't have a library card, go ahead and get one, this is your sign to do it asap. they are warm, welcoming, quiet places in what can sometimes be a cold, loud world.
oh, and no one will be trying to sell you anything. that's a bonus.
