I've jumped in the game to help educate the masses on how the industry operates. We have to understand how the film/tv industry works to effectively fight and be heard. Essentially, we need to play by their rules.

I Will Always Be With You... And Also, I Love You.

This is the goodbye that we never really got from Clarke and Lexa in 3x16. I mean, I couldn’t resist, and people said they wanted to read it, so here you go: 

“No, Lexa!” Clarke grabs hold of her arm and the commander stops in her tracks. She never was able to deny Clarke in life and apparently not in death either it seemed. “I love you.” Clarke breathes and Lexa’s eyes instantly soften. Lexa was always here to see the mission through but Clarke was always her true love - her true mission. 

She forgets about the impending army of Allie’s mindless goons and focuses on Clarke. She turns fully to look at her, cups her cheek with her hand and smiles softly. It seemed that Lexa smiled more than ever now, unburdened and in the presence of the girl who she truly loved. 

Clarke was scared - and all for the wrong reasons - she was scared about what would happen to Lexa and not about what would happen to anything or anyone else. 

“I love you too, Clarke.” Lexa says fondly with her thumb running over Clarke’s jaw. Her skin was soft and felt oh so real to the commander. She’d missed Clarke. She hadn’t had many moments to touch or feel Clarke, apart for their one blissful night together, so she couldn’t resist touching Clarke now. Her smooth skin was the definition of paradise to Lexa. If there was a City of Light, where there was no pain, or suffering, just good, then Lexa was certain that being in love with Clarke Griffin, and being loved by Clarke Griffin, was the City Of Light - she belonged in Clarke because Clarke was where she was most happy. “But you have to do this for your people, and for mine.” Lexa reminds her but also herself. “Allie can’t win.“ 

"I can’t lose you again.” Clarke pleads and Lexa shakes her head. Clarke’s eyes had always been blue but now they were blue. The plea and the long seeded need - not need - want for Lexa shone through and it took all of Lexa’s strength to keep looking into those beautiful eyes. 

“You won’t.” She says with such conviction that Clarke feels her heart contract. Lexa leans forward and kisses her on the lips, savoring the moment for as long as she wants. She’d never feel Clarke’s lips on her own again, or her skin, or see the blonde of her hair again, or the blue of her eyes, or the way that she made her feel, she would never feel any of those things again because, the hard truth was, Lexa wasn’t real. But Clarke was, she was here and she was alive and Lexa was kissing her like her heart still beat and, hell, maybe it did - solely for Clarke. 

Lexa pulls back slightly, still cupping Clarke’s cheek, and leans her forehead against the blonde’s. “I will always be with you.” Lexa whispers and Clarke feels her breath brush over her face as though Lexa were still breathing - as though it was only the two of them in this moment. 

Clarke stares at her, her blue eyes filling up with blue tears. It seemed like an eternity they had been standing there, caught up in each other, for what Clarke assumed would be the last time. “Love isn’t weakness Clarke, it’s strength.” Lexa smiles after that statement, her grip tightening on Clarke’s arm, but Clarke couldn’t see how that was true. 

The army were getting closer and Lexa knew she had to go now if she wanted to save Clarke. “I love you.” Lexa concludes and with one final meaningful look, conveying all her love, all her emotions, the goodbye that she couldn’t bring herself to actually say, the brunette turns and pulls her swords from her back. She glances over shoulder, telling Clarke to go, and she charges into the crowd with a loud war cry that breaks Clarke’s heart. 

Lexa loved Clarke and, although it went unsaid after her ‘love isn’t weakness’ statement, that was how she was able to do what she was doing: her love for Clarke was making her strong. 

Clarke shakes her head, chances a look at Lexa, who was fighting like the damn god she was, and the blonde turns and enters the door that Raven had left for her. Lexa would never be gone. She was a scar on Clarke’s heart that she would carry with her for the rest of her life - without a doubt. Clarke didn’t know what the future held but she knew something for certain: Lexa would always be with her.

Special Announcement

Being a part of the Clexa fandom has been a gift over the past year. The creativity of writers and artists and the fandom as a whole has elevated the relationship as something that is more than just what we saw on screen. We’ve made lifelong friendships and memories in this fandom and couldn’t be happier to be a part of it; it means so much to us, and I don’t think we’re wrong in saying that everyone holds this same opinion.

Lexa may be gone from the show, but she lives on through us: through the headcanons, the fanart, the fanfiction. Clexa is ours. It belongs to the fandom now, and this fandom understands what Clexa, Clarke, and Lexa mean and we will treat it with greater respect than it ever got on the show.

In recognition of this wonderful fandom and ship, we wanted to create something that fans could hold on to.

After consulting with a few fans and artists, we decided to compile a book of creative fan works. We reached out to dozens of Clexa fandom artists and they responded enthusiastically.

What resulted is a 60+ page book of fan artwork and a couple of written pieces by fandom authors, created exclusively for the Clexa fandom. You all love the fanart you’ve seen online, and now you can have a tangible, 8x11″ book of that artwork to keep with you and enjoy always. 

Pictured above is the back cover of the book, a piece that PapurrCat created especially for this project. The front cover is being kept secret for now!

We have been brought together by this ship and done great things because of it, and this is a celebration of that. Rather than anyone profiting on these books, we have set it up as a fundraiser for the Trevor Project. We paid for an initial run of 100 books out of our pockets. The books will cost $30 each and 100% of the money will go directly to the Trevor Project. We will be posting more info on that later.

Additionally, because we expect demand to be more than 100 books, for the initial run we will be setting up a lottery of sorts, to randomly select 100 people from a list of interested fans for a first chance at the book. A second run of books is already being planned, so everyone who wants a book, will be able to get one. We will post specifics on this lottery system as well–we just want it to be as fair as possible for everyone.

Our goal with this is to give all of us a little piece of Clexa to have forever as well as raise some money for charity to continue helping those who need it.

Look out for additional posts coming soon: we’ll be posting the full list of artists who contributed, as well as an informational post about the details and process of the lottery, the payment process, the dates, and the specifics of the book. The 100 EP 316 Summary

Reminder that this was written as I was watching the episode so I apologize if it’s slightly messy.

Trigger warnings: blood, gore, cutting

we start of back at the throne room, Clarke is trying to wake Abby up

by electrocuting her? and using something to suck out that chip thing from her head, that was weird. 

both Clarke and Abby cry and Murphy, Pike, and Bellamy walk in

Bellamy was pointing a gun at Abby as soon as he walked into the throne room

Clarke tells them they’re gonna put the AI in her instead of Ontari

ah so apparently AI will work on the Arkers? and it didn’t work on Emerson cause he was a Mountain man (?)

chipped grounders are climbing the tower (how many decalexas tall is that thing again?) so they decide to do it

back at Arkadia, Jasper is literally pulling Harper by her hair, smashing her head against a wall because Raven won’t open the door

some nerd talk, Jasper/ALIE tell Raven she only has 2 percent chance to crack the code

Monty shows up and shoots Jasper in the leg, managing to knock him out

at Polis, Clarke is getting a transfusion from Ontari, so blood tw here. 

Clarke gives the flame to Murphy and he puts it inside of her

Clarke screams in pain and then blacks out but wakes up soon after

apparently she knows how to find the kills witch so she has to go to the CoL for it. “I don’t know how I know, I just know.” - makes sense

Clarke takes the chip and wakes up in CoL

some bad CGI. like really bad CGI…

basically we’ve seen all of this in spoilers, Clarke walking in CoL but no one noticing her, the place is full of people and it appears “normal”

she sees Jasper but he doesn’t see her either

Clarke sees infinity symbols everywhere and decides to follow them (a stop light and a woman’s bun?)

in Polis, Miller takes Bryan to Abby cause he’s wounded, leaving Pike alone with Octavia 

Pike: “We gotta stay together” - Octavia: “Now you say that”

those two get ready yo fight off the grounders who climb up

plot twist, Octavia attacks Pike instead and lets the grounders beat him up

Bellamy shows up and shoots the grounders, Pike snaps one’s neck

Pike tells on Octavia lol

Emori and Kane jump inside but they manage to run out of the room

Bellamy is giving Octavia lessons about revenge (omg)

Pike still talks against the grounders

Bellamy: “ have to live with what I’ve done” #redeemed

Ontari starts shaking/seizuring and Clarke gets a nosebleed

same happens in CoL and in Arkadia Raven figures out that Clarke is in CoL now suddenly everyone can see Clarke 

Abby tries to save Ontari since she doesn’t have enough blood, cause Clarke to start rejecting the flame

Raven figures out that the flame is a virus

Clarke falls down and CoL people start attacking her, beating her on the ground and kicking her

ALIE is upgrading to version 2 now because of Clarke

she can remove the killswitch so she’se sending literally everyone in CoL after Clarke

Lexa literally jumps out of nowhere and cuts everyone up

she runs towards Clarke and they hug

Lexa: “Our fight is not over.”

Lexa helps limping Clarke walk to safety as everyone chases them

they go down the stairs and Clarke starts seizuring again

Abby literally cuts Ontari’s chest open, like her whole chest, pulls it apart and sticks her hand inside, pulling out and pumping Ontari’s heart with her hand omg

then she calls Murphy to do it but Clarke is still seizuring

apparently it starts working and Clarke wakes up in CoL again

Lexa and Clarke kiss for like 0.2 seconds

Clarke suddenly has her father’s watch that’s counting down

a girl on a bike has an infinity jacket so they follow her to find the kill switch, Lexa says “Thank you, Becca.”

in Polis, Bellamy, Pike, Miller and Bryan are still trying to fight off the grounders and Kane

they let them through the door (as a trap) and Octavia says she’ll take the chip but they lured them in water and threw in tasers

back in CoL, clexa is still following the girl until they get into an underground garage where Jasper follows them

but apparently they hit to a firewall they can’t break through

(by firewall I mean a wire fence)

Jasper tries to convince Clarke CoL is good

while he’s talking Jaha and everyone behind him show up

suddenly a door appears on the wall turns out Raven put it there (she put a raven on the door so that Clarke would know)

Lexa tells Clarke to go and Clarke grabs her, telling her “I love you”

Lexa says “I’ll always be with you” and goes charging at the chipped people while Clarke walks through the door/portal

Clarke walks into Becca’s spaceship and sees Becca

Becca calls her commander and tells Clarke that her mind is in control and only she can operate the kill switch

as Clarke is about to pull it, ALIE shows up and shows her what the apocalypse caused, saying that she’ll kill everyone by pulling it

according to ALIE, in 6 months 90% of Earths’ surface will be inhabitable and tries to convince that CoL is the only thing that will save them

back in Polis, the gang is still trying to defend the throne room as Murphy pumps Ontari’s heart

ALIE talks crap, Becca tells Clarke that she’s just stalling to get time to delete the kill switch

ALIE and Becca talk something I didn’t manage to catch

basically ALIE got jealous Becca started working on her replacement

Becca tells her she should’ve taught her better (ie. not to kill 6 billion people in order to save them) 

ALIE tells Clarke that in CoL she wont’ have to deal with making these decisions anymore

Abby shot a grounder that managed to get inside, the others are getting beaten up too

Jaha shows up in Polis and fights the gang, Kane is choking Bellamy

Becca counts down and Clarke pulls the switch

Suddenly everyone wakes up, screaming in pain and falling down

Clarke wakes up in Polis

Lexa died for nothing on the show. Make it mean something off the show.

The most effective way is to stop promoting them. Anything else helps them and means you are endorsing and supporting what happened. We should however still speak out and have a voice and make ourselves heard: this is about representation and visibility for lesbian and bisexual characters, don’t lose sight of that.

This is a siege. Jroth & Co have to do PROMO to survive. We can just plan, organize & wait them out. We will never give up.

Directly targeting J and CW (1)

I’m just going to start a series of post and keep building on it since this production is killing me with our 14 hr days. :( 

I want to start with networking and co-worker dynamic. In the film/tv industry we live by our network. Every single job I’ve gotten was though my network. You always bring someone on who someone has worked with before. When there is an opening on my team the producer asks 2 questions: Who do you know that can fill the position, and how are they to work on on set? If you’ve worked with this producer/production company before and they trust you, they don’t even ask questions. They just want to be kept updated on whether the position has been filled and where to send the check.

There is an extreme amount of loyalty in this industry. We’ve helped each other be successful and I am very protective of the people in my network. Also, YOUR REPUTATION IS EVERYTHING. If I’m bringing someone on to cover for me, I make sure they can perform to my standards. They have to make me look good! And visa verse. When I’m asked to cover for anyone, I have to make sure that the production knows they trusted the right person to bring someone in that will take care of the team as a whole. 

We work with our networks for insane amounts of time (14-16 hour days from weeks to months depending on the production) and through highly stressful situations. You get to really understand what a person is made of, so when I say trust, I mean TRUST. If any of them says, “Do not hire this person”, I won’t hire them. I usually ask for a reason so I’m aware, but others won’t. Others will just hear that and move on to the next person on the list.

My point. If you directly target J, you are not just targeting him, but his network. the people who know his worth as a person. The father to his kids, the husband to his wife, the long hours in the office, the hundreds of people he was able to provide jobs for, the network executives etc. You are essentially targeting them as well and they will take his side.

Why should this matter? To me it’s all about fighting the fight with the right tools. I’ve been hearing a lot of talk about “aggressive” stances and that is usually coupled with directly calling out J and the CW. I CAN’T THINK OF A MORE AGGRESSIVE ACT than not watching the show, hitting up the advertisers to pull out, and showing the networks that there is a market in LGBT representation.

uhhh, as far as I know is not Graeme Manson. That Graeme hasn’t written for Orphan Black according to IMDB. 

The only writer of Orphan Black who has signed the pledge is Sherry White, who wrote “ Community of Dreadful Fear and Hate ” on Orphan Black’s season 3. But Graeme Manson does not appear on the pledge.

I find it amusing that Orphan Black–a show that experienced huge fandom appreciation after Cophine and whose showrunner is currently teasing fans that Delphine is “Orphan Black dead”, is being cited as one of the “progressive” shows because a WRITER of ONE EPISODE signed the pledge.

Who the fuck are they trying to fool? The writer’s name should be attached. The main proprietors Orphan Black has made no indication of interest in the pledge.

So why are these media outlets using the show name as part of their article title and meta tags?

They contacted and corrected a media outlet before in order to avoid being associated with the Tumblr response to call out The CW.

Great job on getting the article fixed @elizajanesface We definitely should be hitting up these articles if any info is incorrect. Also, a friendly reminder that writers are essentially crew. They can collaborate with the showrunner but essentially have to abide by the showrunners final decision (even if they disagree with it). Writers do become showrunners, and that is when we'll see if they were serious about the pledge. I for one am excited about this, and I look forward in seeing which showrunner will prove that we were able to make ourselves heard!

do you have any trend idea for the finale? I was thinking using finale as a way to tell them we won't follow them with season 4

I have the “why” but not yet the “what”. I’m reaching out to some marketing and PR professionals in the industry as well as programers/coders who are versed on the algorithms of Twitter. They’ll be the best at helping fine tune the wording and possible suggestions. But you are spot on! We have to figure out a way to let theloo know we will not follow them into season 4!

But a quick overview. I was talking to my uber driver about her being recruited for a reality series. This producer was looking for interesting people and she (uber driver) takes pictures of interesting subjects all over the world. She never heard back from them and asked advice on what to do next. I told her to keep building her social media presence and to keep doing what she does best, taking pictures and making people aware that she exists. Networks are essentially putting a down payment on an investment, so if they see that a subject already has quite a following (and recoup their investment fairly quickly), they’ll more likely bring that person on. If she wants to revisit her connection (the one who introduced her to the producer) in the future when she’s acquired quite the following, the better the chances she might get that gig.

The movement has been doing a great job educating the masses about the trope and how Jsuck and the CW has wronged us (GREAT JOB EVERYONE!!). I think something else we need to start reminding networks is that THERE IS MONEY IN CREATING POSITIVE LGBT REPRESENTATION. So my idea is finding shows who already have good representation and putting them on blast. Thanking them for this awesomeness and how we’ll support them and HOW MUCH OF US will support them. In these loving tweets/emails of support, CC theCW and their advertisers (or as we lovingly call them here… the sponsors. haha). 

So that is my idea for the finale, what are your thoughts? Everyone is welcome to respond, obviously. :)

I've been trying to google the 1920s law that demands LGBT+ stories end in tragedy, I found a reference to it on wikipedia for the 1930s but am still having trouble tracking down more information, do you have any good places to search or the specific name of the law?

It was part of the Motion Picture Production Code, or the Hays Code. It’s not a law, it was a guideline on how to “properly” tell stories within the film industry.

How to Write a Sponsor Letter

I know a lot of people may not like copy and pasting a letter, or maybe they don’t know how to write one. So here’s some guidelines!! Feel free to message me if you have any questions/want me to proofread your letter.

Always start with “to whom you may concern.” You don’t know who’s receiving it.

Don’t bother indenting. Just double space. Indenting, in my experience, can distract from the content of the email.

An email is nothing like an essay. There’s no thesis. Do not include a thesis, at least not in the first paragraph.

Appeal to the sponsor. Much like we want them to appeal to us, appeal to them. Say how you love their company and their products. I don’t care if you’ve never used Dawn or Crest in your life: fake it ‘til you make it.

Educate. The whole idea of these letters is to educate them. Make sure when you mention Clarke or Lexa, include Eliza/Alycia. ex: “Clarke Griffin (Eliza Taylor) and Lexa (Alycia Debnam-Carey)…”

Mention lgbtviewersdeservebetter.com. Talk about our Twitter trending. Billboard funding. Hell, talk about our council. Trevor Project. Make sure they know we’re not just “angry teens.”

Make sure your conclusion hits hard. Talk about the self-harm. Suicidal ideation. Put the most gruesome hard-hitters of the movement here. Your conclusion, much like a speech, is what these sponsors will remember last. Make it good.

End with “sincerely” or “yours.” Be professional.

Place your name, then lgbtviewersdeservebetter.com below it. You may not be a council member, but you’re still apart of the movement.

ALWAYS, ALWAYS: Be polite. Be patient with a response. Show you are genuine and mean business, but don’t be crass or rude. Pretend you’re sending this message to the President (or any government official).

Hello! I just saw your post "How the tv networks see backlash" and it definitely fired me up (not that I needed it tbh), but can you tell me how networks can monitor illegal downloads? Commanderoswald and others said that's not possible.

Networks are monitoring live views and any official viewership counts like hulu, netflix, cwtv etc. They have ACCESS to information re: illegal download sites. They’re not necessarily monitoring it as they do the former.

Jsuck has prided himself in using Netflix/Hulu views in building viewership. They even purposefully extended the hiatus in hopes that the views on Netflix would bring higher viewers for s3 premiere. And it worked. And he was very proud of himself. We are also very aware of certain writers who lurk in lesbian blogs. This team is thinking outside of the box and is encouraged to. Which is the reason why I mentioned to stop illegal downloads or watching through illegal methods. It’s not a common practice, but I can bet you they looking at those because of this movement. Plus, it’s not that hard to find out the numbers and they’ve technically been doing this for a while. They as in the legal department of said network tv going after individuals downloading copywrited tv/film programs. 

I’ve gotten one of those said letters from my cable provider. In the letter it stated my ip address, the film that was downloaded and how any future downloads would result in legal action through the studio (thanks for downloading The Help, roomie. You do know I own it on bluray?). So the cable providers are working with the legal department of studios and networks and I’m sure they have a great deal of information available to them.

But why are we still watching a show that has done this to us? I stopped watching theloo the second that bullet hit Lexa. Because they obviously had no idea about how serious we were about the lesbian death trope, so I’m taking my precious view to a show who will do it right!
