First days are hard for everyone, Oz.

Sooooo pretty...
Do you have any pictures of yourself when you were younger?
Just this one.
HAHAHAHAHAH CINDY NO
CINDER YES
You know they deserved it. Make her sleep on the floor by the fire so close she gets singed just to keep from freezing, will you? Yeah, letâs see how you like a little fire to keep your bed hot at night.
I mean, itâs not hard to imagine Cinder growing up thinking that fire is her only friend. I feel like thatâs going to end up being ironic, from a certain point of view.
I got caught with arkos feelings this morning and thatâs just how itâs gonna be from now on, huh?
yes
Itâs a way of life.
Some Arkos stuff
Jaune:Â Pyrrha, I need to be honest with you.
Pyrrha:Â What is Jaune?
Jaune:Â I think Iâm in love with you.
Pyrrha: *processing*
Pyrrha:Â Excuse me for a moment
*Pyrrha leaves the room and knocks on RWBYâs door*
*Jaune hears the door open*
Pyrrha:Â SUCK IT WEISS!

villains who could have been protagonists in different circumstances? I live for that shit
potential counterpoint: protagonists who could have been villains in different circumstances? I live for that shit too
Third point: a villain and a hero that chose their path by making a different choice in the same kind of circumstance? I live for it too
Quarter point: villains and heroes who both switch sides over the course of the story for very good, justifiable reasons? Keeps my heart beating.

So like there was this mildly creepy RWBY fanart post on reddit of mundane real-world versions of team RWBY hanging out with their real-world guns and dressed like real world rural republicans and the title was literally â#2ndAmendmentRightsâ and some of the commenters were like âpeople in remnant understand the importance of bearing arms to their freedom, itâs so great thereâ and I was totally grossed out BUT-
Remnant does have an equivalent to the second amendment of the U.S. constitution, and itâs not some rule about everyone always being entitled to make all of their possessions double as firearms. The Remnant equivalent to the second amendment is the color naming rule. And if you donât agree with that just block me, because I donât want to hear why you think bullets are more important for freedom than rainbows.
Wait, how is the color naming rule equivalent to the 2nd amendment? In concept, the 2nd amendment exist so people can protect themselves from criminals and tirant governments.
Can you explain yourself here? Iâm genuinely confused.
The color naming rule isnât just a rule the writers of the show follow for creating the characters, it exists in-universe, and itâs been mentioned both in World of Remnant and by characters in the actual show.
In the history of Remnant before the Great War, some kingdoms outlawed their common people from any form of artistic self-expression, because it was believed to elicit emotional responses which could attract Grimm, but it also doubled as a convenient excuse for oppression, not unlike the war on drugs. The wealthy and privileged were still allowed to possess and practice art hidden away in their well-defended citadels, but anyone else caught in possession of material declared âartâ, or creating their own art by drawing or painting or singing or playing a musical instrument was harshly punished. The tension between kingdoms that practiced this outlawing of art and the ones that didnât was a major contributing cause of the Great War, as Atlas in particular was adamant that all other kingdoms should follow this practice in order to suppress the Grimm.
After the end of the war, while Vale was establishing new post-war systems of government, a cultural movement began to name all children born after the war with words that were in some way evocative of colors. The idea was to prevent any future attempt to outlaw self-expression on a large scale by essentially making sure that future generations would always be armed with art in their very names. If government thugs show up and say that anything that can loosely be considered âartâ must be burned, colorful clothing is banned, and paint stores can only sell shades of grey? Well, if your name literally means a color, it makes it a little bit harder for them to try and wipe out the very idea of expressing yourself. This is part of the in-universe explanation for why the characters almost all have super dedicated personal aesthetics- their entire civilization was nearly destroyed fighting a war in part for the right to express themselves, and they cherish that right very strongly.
In Remnant, personal weapons are primarily used for self defense against the Grimm, and everyone has always had to have them. But color-based names? Thatâs a new thing thatâs only been around for a few generations. Thatâs the people of Remnant saying that they will never be oppressed like that again, and that they always want their children to have a reminder at hand of the beauty that exists both out in the world and within themselves. Unlike their gunswords, the colorful names of the people of Remnant arenât tools for directly fighting against the creatures of darkness for their mere survival; theyâre tools for protecting what makes their lives actually worth living.

This show has the densest fandom I have ever seen.
My current Pyrrha Nikos mood.
Why does my girl consistently look like she told a terrible pun and is waiting for you to respond in Volume 5 lmao
âItâs a once in a lifetime experience.â
Because puns are the evilest form of verbal humor. Unlike other types of jokes which typically require significant effort to tell, require the cooperation of the audience to be understood and be funny, and are told primarily for the amusement of the audience, puns can easily be used selfishly with almost no effort to amuse only oneâs self, while actually causing others pain, and are usually understood even by an unwilling audience that is actively trying to ignore them. So of course Cinder, here, at the peak of her evulz, thinks sheâs being hilarious when she calls Qrow a âlittle birdâ, and tells Vernal that Cinderâs plan to murder her is âexcitingâ and an âhonorâ.
Jokeâs on her, though. Raven is a master of a much stronger form of antagonistic humor: the ironic echo. Maybe if Cinder were more clever, she would have had a comeback.
âPyrrhaâs smirk at the end of Never Miss a Beat is OOC!â
fucking say that again?
This child is the smirkiest of the lot
People get confused about what Pyrrha is really like because Pyrrhaâs moments of happiness are always so fleeting. The real Pyrrha is a playful snickerdoodle who revels in her own strength, pins boys she likes to the wall, and finds humor in every little thing. Itâs so sad when you realize it, because it makes it clear how miserably anxious Pyrrha is throughout almost all of her time at Beacon. It makes me wonder what she was like when she attended Sanctuary, and what sort of experiences made her choose to leave Mistral and come to Vale. Imagine young Pyrrha before she felt she had to bear the weight of the world on her shoulders, before she ended up on a cereal box, before she was a famous champion, when she just trained and fought for the love of it. Thatâs the Pyrrha that smugly shoved Jaune off his feet and told him his stance was all wrong.
