Thoughts on the tv show “Funny Woman” (2022-2024)?

Okay I’ll try be detailed but im pretty shit at it…

I LOVE funny woman so so much. I watched like 1 epsiode a night and realized how good it was and then binged the whole second season in 1 night, I was OBSESSED!

I love barbs character so so much, I found her so funny. When shows try to present a comedic woman they usually try and make them a bit cringey because they hate that women can ALSO be funny so they try make u hate the character if that makes sense? but I feel like they didn’t do this with Barbara, she had some very funny lines. “Cocking hell” made me laugh a lot😭

Bill and tony, one of the BEST tv duos to date, I love that they were both part of the lgbtq, I clocked that bill and tony were gay/bi straight away LMAO. I always adore shows that have representation, I feel like there just isn’t enough so it always makes me happy and love a show more when there’s anything like this in it. Their dynamic and how they just riff off eachothers jokes is incredible it’s so funny😭😭

I don’t even want to mention the devils name (Clive…) oh he pmo SO BAD. CHEATING ON BARB? WTF WERE U THINKING?!?!? MARRYING HER JUST CUZ THE PAPERS WANTED HIM TOO??? WTAF?!?!? ARARARARGGSGEGDHEHEHHSK.

Dennis. Oh I love Dennis so much I knew they were gonna end up to together the way he looked at her even in the very early episodes I just KNEW. I genuinley SCREAMED when they finally kissed. !!!! The train station scene kinda broke me for a while tho💔

The music from the show being from around that era was such a nice touch, I LOVE 60s music so so much🙏

The show very well represented societal issues, (homophobia, patriarchy etc.) Deb doing the equal pay march was such a moving scene, lowk almost started chanting with them all LMAO. Also bill getting arrested was another perfect way to shed light to what would have been happening in the 60s.!

The plot had me stressing though.. like it was going so well for her during the start of the Jim and Barbra show… i could just FEEL that something was gonna go wrong and I love her so much i couldnt bare it ☹️

Overall, it was an absolutely AMAZING show and i hope more people watch it!! Thank you sm for telling me about it 😝😝

Thoughts on the BBC 4 Monty Python tv biopic “Holy Flying Circus” (2011) ? (+ fave characters/quotes/moments/scenes from it and why?)

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!! BEST PYTHON BIOPIC!!!!! I love the fact there’s loads of referances like basil fawlty thrashing the car but also a few slightly more subtle referances like “you’re not the nicest man in the world you’re a naughty boy!” and “runaway from the fight you chicken!!!”

I literally love all of the pythons! The actors all look so so similar especially terrys, for a minute i actually thought it was the real Terry😭 Their voices too! Johns was extremely accurate, it began to freak me out just how good the voice was….

I like how it focused on the whole life of brian controversy, i find the whole situation so interesting!

But yeah, 10/10 movie I LOVED IT!

i simply cannot pick between the 60s and 70s… their is some AMAZING comedy from the 60s of course like do not adjust your set, at last the 1948 show, the frost report, broaden your mind, dads army, complete and utter history of britain, goodbye again, that was the week that was, not so much a program more a way of life.

But also in the 70s is when comedy really began to change and the pythons started to have a massive influence and when comedy finally broke out of its traditional shell.

Shows like the two ronnies, beyond a joke, marty feldman comedy machine, not only but also, rutland weekend telly, fawlty towers, are amazing 70s comedys! Just realized I’ve only listed sketch shows but you get the point.

I think I’d pick the 70s though, purely for monty python. I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if i had the chance to see them first come out with their show and movies and i didn’t take it.

Yes of course!! I have 25 so far, i havnt been collecting very long. I get them all from charity shops, so my collection has been growing slow.. but growing none the less! I have a bunch in my ebay basket which im saving for (this includes the flying circus, do not adjust your set, at last the 1948 show and ALA!!) Here’s my collection so far in sections:

and then i have my rutles and beatle one! i actually got the rutles one for my birthday, it would be a miracle to find a rutles dvd in a charity shop… i found the beatles one at a charity shop for a fiver, but they knocked the price down to a pound as im a regular face there!!!!

there’s quite a few seasons of dads army and sadly ive only found the first one ☹️ i hope more pop up! i also have the movie!!

imma just take a picture of them all together because otherwise there will be too many individual pictures😭

i can’t wait to collect more, it’s so fun!! i aspire to be one of those old people who have like 70 cabinets full of DVDs for my grandchildren to watch🙏
