That awkward moment when you initially text your friend in all caps because you're excited about something, and they're also excited about it so they answer in all caps, and you're both talking in all caps but then neither of you is excited anymore but you still have to answer in all caps because the previous message was in all caps and you have to match their potential enthusiasm. affective empathy: I see that my friend is crying and I feel sad because of that.

cognitive empathy: I see that my friend is crying and I understand that they feel sadness and possibly anger.
