So a lot of people have brought attention to the fact that the duffers introduced Vickie and only gave her like a minute of screen time. This has brought a lot of questions as to why they would introduce a character and then only have three be talked about for a few more sciences, what’s the point? Why would the excellent writers who have made a complex entraining story by hiding details, foreshadowing, and including the fans.
Well I think I’ve figure out why.
We’ve only ever seen Robin talk about her crushes, we’ve never actually seen her interact with one. By introducing Vickie we were able to see how Robin acts around her crush and such. I think this was done to intentionally show us that Robin likes Nancy whether she realizes it or not. She said that she can’t stop talking when around her crush, and we see her do that but only around Nancy. We know that Robin likes to stare at her crushes, and we’ve definitely seen that. There’s a pattern being followed here.
Which brings me to a theory. To continue this pattern there’s one detail that we haven’t seen. Robin accidentally pitted herself to Vickie, but she didn’t catch on and instead Robin pretended she had said something else. This leads me to believe that Robin will accidentally out herself to Nancy, but Nancy will catch on. Nancy has her journalistic instinct, she doesn’t understand Robin and Steve’s relationship. Robins talked about relationships with Nancy, and it’s only time before Nancy wants to talk to Robin about hers. Nancy is smart and keeps details in mind, Robin will out herself and Nancy will recognize that, maybe robin will deny it and Nancy will pretend she believes Robin but later on she’ll definitely still be thinking about it
Others have mentioned that for Nancy to recognize her own feelings, Robin will come out to her, giving Nancy the ability to recognize that her feelings a real, not wrong, or understand them.
