Work had been pretty intense, but Tess was used to holidays for the most part. People always wanted love spells or good luck spells and that type of thing this time of year. And soooo many dried rose petals. It wasn’t her favorite holiday, mostly because of the tourists being insistent on making people fall in love with magic, but she did like to see all the happy couples and lovely things people did for each other. And the flowers from Lewis had been a lovely bonus.
She was finally off work then, and ready to go find him for their anti-valentine’s date. Which mostly meant that they were hanging out and watching movies because neither of them had a real date. It was something they had always done if neither of them ended up with someone to spend the holiday with and if she was honest, for her it was because he was really who she wanted to spend it with anyway. She packed up her stuff, said her goodbyes to Peyton and the other people on staff and headed to find Lewis.
When she spotted him and Cal, she approached with a bounce in her step and held out the little stuffed anatomical heart plushie she’d gotten him. When he took that she pulled out a little self-love kit she’d brought along for Cal. “Happy Love day boys! Hope it’s been treating y’all well so far,” she greeted while giving them their gifts. “You ready for a Disney movie marathon?” she asked, looking at Lewis with a smile, before turning back to Cal. “You’re welcome to join us,” she added. When he declined her offer, she shrugged lightly, but inside she was relieved he’d said no. “No worries, I guess we’ll see you later then!” She looped her arm through Lewis’ as they headed away towards her house.

Lewis had spent the morning exploring the carnival with Cal while he waited for Tessa to get off work. The plan was for Lewis, Tessa, and whomever else wanted to join to watch Disney movies together. Sure, probably not Lewis’ first choice but they made Tessa happy, and that made Lewis happily. Usually, most of their friends had dates or made other plans, so Valentine’s Day was often a friend date with Tess.
Lewis had already delivered Tess’ gift while she’d been at work. A bouquet he had put together himself, plus her coffee order. It wasn’t perfect, or even as nice as it would have been had he bought it, but he figured she’d appreciate the effort he put into picking out the flowers and wrapping it himself. Lewis had also gotten some chocolate for Harley, as was his tradition, and delivered it to her while she was at work with Cal in tow. In fact, the two were just leaving Harley’s tent when Tess came forward and held out an anatomical heart toy.
“Tess! That’s amazing.” Lewis said, unable to keep himself from smiling as he took the gift from her. The fact that she had worked to find something that matched his interests meant more than he could put into words. “This is great, really.” He said, as he pulled Tessa into a hug.
Cal declined Tessa’s offer to join them for the Disney marathon. This didn’t surprise Lewis, and he greatly appreciated it. Cal knew how Lewis felt about Tessa. “Later, man!” Lewis called, as he and Tessa walked together back towards her house. “Do we have enough snacks? Did you want anything special for during the movies?” Lewis asked, as he looked down at her. He would stop to get anything she wanted for the movie, all she had to do was ask. “I can make a quick stop and pick it up for you.”
