The world I have in my head is Erestyal, something I've been working on for years and slowly but surely writing more of. I lwk named myself after the main character Evangeline huhhh whattt nooo

like, I treat the main 5 as my ocs more than characters in my book, but when it comes to the world of Erestyal I'm much more serious.

a quick synopsis is pretty much a political fantasy where evangeline settles a new land to save her people, but the energy below the earth is not happy with that, causing her to lose all that she loves. also halline and evangeline are in love

my other non-fandom related interests are very much humanities based. I am very passionate about linguistics (the study of languages) and I aspire to become one some day!! in my own personal studies, i mainly delve into linguistics, anthropology, geography (especially how geography influences language), archaeology, and ecology.

i usually fixate on a country/area and go on rabbit holes for weeks, currently it's Georgia (the country. not the state.) and South/Central America, but my all-time fav to research and look into is North Africa, the Mediterranean, and the Arabian Peninsula.

my interest kind of started when i noticed how little i rly knew about the rest of our non-euro-centric world, like i could label most countries in Europe, Asia, and North America, but when it came to Africa and South America, i found it quite interesting how i knew nothing.... so i started teaching myself, and during this time while i was developing my geography interest, my interest in linguistics just boomed...

currently im learning Italian at school, but some languages i want to learn include: Arabic, Dutch, Noongar, and Swedish.

in the future i want to take a double major in linguistics and anthropology at university, and then further, get a PhD in linguistics.

outside of school and home, i love going to gigs😝 i consider myself to be in my local scene, listen local freaks! i go to a new one like every month and have a few friends in bands (shoutout to Solstice and Sweet Eternity!!), i alsooo love to go op shopping (and cooking up divatastic outfits from my finds)

thoughts on Our Flag Means Death:

hmmm instantly one of my fav shows😛 finished it in like 4 binging sessions (i watched 7 episodes in one afternoon i think) at first i was drawn to it simply because of Taika Watiti and Rhys Darby (they were both PHENOMENAL)

i'm happy with the two seasons they gave us, i think the end of season 2 was done perfectly and you really can't have that show without Izzy Hands😭😭 i sobbed at his death dude he literally had one of the best character developments i've ever seen but honestly i preferred it to be him over any one of the crew members (i was also drawn to the show because of JOEL FRY😝😝😝 like ik his name is frenchie in this but i kept calling him jasper because of cruella)

also. the best part of that ENTIRE show. was s2 ep4 when RACHEL HOUSE and MINNIE DRIVER??? suddenly start lezzing out omg. i was stunned when rachel (was her name Mary?) popped out of the bushes but AWWW the hug with ed was like so genuine bc ik they're besties irl but AWWW but! seriously that whole episode was a rollercoaster with my little gay heart going into overdrive

but also literally every single time i recognised someone i got so happy SIMONE KESSEL HELLO??? i didn't know ed's mother was also a cult leader tf

also my second fav episode was s2 ep5 WHEN THEY CAME OUT IN DRAG HELLO i was gagged. that whole Calypso's party thing was phenomenal. gagged. aside from the party, that episode also had very good development esp with stede's first real kill but ed wanting to step away from the pirate life AWWW

i loved ed and izzy's 'indestructibleness' from a humour side, but that weird tangent with the "gravy basket" was a bit weird. i'd love to see other takes on that though, i liked how buttons talked about it

Holy shit holy shit I NEED to talk about the OFF THE WALLS LUDONARRATIVE SHIT Leder Games is doing in Root.

1) Standard fare, but the Eyrie more or less represent fascists. Singular, strongman, (I think canonically always male?) leaders who get executed and replaced when they can’t live up to their own demands. Also the fact that they HAVE to promise more and more and more each turn. Also also the fact that they claim to be the “Original custodians of the Woodland” in an effort to paint their endless war as a reclamation. Huh where have I heard that before?!??

2) Especially on Charismatic, you often find yourself in the position where you need to throw your own soliders into the proverbial woodchipper just to not turmoil. HOLY SHIT??!??! Sending your own soldiers to die so you can fulfill a quota, save expenses, and look good in front of the people?????

3) Further on that note, the easiest way to dump spare cards is in the move column, leading to the Eyrie often moving their soldiers back and forth just to fulfill the column.

You have to send your soldiers on military parades

To give them something to do

Lest they turn around and kill you

This is the new flag, the old one was more vivid and in a z shape, but it's been made more neutral to be inclusive of people with seizures or sensory issues.

Each stripe represents a different aspect of disability:

Red: Physical disabilities

Yellow: Cognitive & intellectual disabilities

White: (And this is the key one I think) Invisible AND undiagnosed disabilities

Blue: Mental illnesses

the younger sister who saw the injustices of her family and felt the need to do something, and the older brother who didn't believe in her dream only because he was so scared of what could happen. he knew she was naive and irrational, and in the prologue he's terrified of what could have happened to her out there, and then elian convinces him to go find her, to actually do something, and even though he's convinced it's not safe, he does it anyway, and coincidentally (and conveniently to the story😋) he does find her!! and reunited yayayay and now they rule over this new country together, both pursuing eva's dream together. but serrabi is angry at eva, and wants to ruin it all. he tries to get to her through edward, but it doesn't work because she'll always forgive him, she'll forgive anyone, but then serrabi tries to get to her through halline, and it works because her halline is gone. she literally and figuratively cannot live without halline. and now edward had lost everyone, he has no family left, his sister is dead, and her dream is no longer a reality. it's not smart or rational to stay at erestyal. so he flees, and leaves their people to die.

and then edward names his daughter after evangeline
