People say, there’s splendor in that bright light But my growing shadow swallows me and becomes a monster... — Min Yoongi
BTS x BLACKPINK x IKON- A World Stepped In Betrayal
Part 1/ Part 2
Part 2 Summary: After witnessing Taehyung kill Seokjin, Jisoo is forced to flee to the Forbidden Forest to save her life.
Recap: “You’re right!” Taehyung exclaimed. “I’m going to kill Seokjin hyung!”
That night was cold and dark. The full moon was blanketed in dark clouds, the stars hidden as well. Jisoo didn’t know why, but there was an endless pit of nervousness in her stomach slowly portraying on poor Jisoo. She assumed that it was because her parents had just died, but that wasn’t what she was feeling. The endless pit kept her awake at night.
After vain attempts of trying to sleep, Jisoo laid on her back, staring at the ceiling aimlessly. Wolves howled in the darkness and a deathly silence befell once the wolves’ howling ceased to an end. It may have just been her imagination, but Jisoo heard quiet footsteps pass her room. Skeptically, Jisoo snuck out of her room. The number one person she didn’t want to come across was Chaeyoung since she would abuse her position as advisor and force her to go back to sleep.
She spotted a suspicious black figure moving around in the darkness and followed it, the darkness attempting to hold her back. Her eyebrows furrowed when she saw the black figure approached Seokjin’s room and push the creaky door open. Jisoo quickly caught up with the black figure and watched it slip into Seokjin’s room. Before the door could close, Jisoo jammed her fingers in the door, ignoring the pain shooting up her arm and peeled into the room haphazardly. Her free hand flew to her mouth when the Grim Reaper-like figure removed their hood and revealed themselves. It was Taehyung. To make matters worse, he extracted a sword out from his cloak and wielded it high. Seokjin, who was also awake, stared at the younger, betrayal in his eyes.
“I’m sorry, hyung,” Taehyung’s deep voice rung in a whisper, no a trace of remorse in his voice, “but I must be King.” And with that, Taehyung sunk the knife into poor Seokjin’s heart. Seokjin gasped, but fell limp quickly. After ensuring that Seokjin was gone, Taehyung extracted the knife from his dead brother’s body and returned it to his holster. He turned and headed to the door where he spotted Jisoo.
“Hello, noona,” he greeted. Jisoo froze. Finally gathering her courage, she turned and faced him with a look of shock.
“Y-You killed Seokjin oppa,” she whispered, tears threatening to spill from her chocolate eyes. “T-To be King?” She finished, her voice dropping to a shocked whisper.
“Yes, so what?” He shrugged. “Now, since I don’t want to hurt you, you’re going to have to...disappear.” He came closer to her. For every step he took towards her, she stepped back, bravado fading. Without thinking about it twice, Jisoo turned and sprinted. Taehyung pursued her out of the palace. Jisoo ran blindly, unaware of where she was headed.
When she glanced over her shoulder, she sighed with relief. Taehyung was long gone. However, she was stuck in the Forbidden Forest. Jisoo gulped and shakily explored the forest with weak legs. She broke down into sobs which stopped immediately when she heard a growl from behind her. Jisoo gingerly turned and met the eyes of a hungry wolf, its mouth frothing as it eyed Jisoo hungrily. Jisoo fell to the ground on her butt, slowly shuffling backwards. She was beyond terrified.
Hanbin had watched the drama unfold. He had no intention of watching, it was a pure accident. Sneakily, he scurried to the stables and picked the lock to stable three. A magnificent black horse neighed, Hanbin silencing it by comforting it.
“We have to save the princess, Younghyung,” he whispered, stroking the horse’s nose. The horse fell silent and Hanbin heaved himself onto the saddle. Younghyung trotted our of the stable and into the night. The horse trotted through the night with Hanbin scanning the area. From behind one of the houses, Hanbin saw Taehyung walk out with a smirk and a sword in its holster. Hanbin had the urge to pull out his bow and arrow and just finish him off, but Taehyung needed to remain for the time being. Hanbin stayed even after Taehyung left. He had to think of where Princess Jisoo could be. As he stared into the distance, he suddenly knew where she would have escaped: the Forbidden Forest.
Hanbin left the horse near a villager he knew—his name was Jiwon—and cautiously ventured into the pitch-black forest. Horror and terror lurked behind every tree he passed. Dead leaves crushed under his light feet that were cold with the snow that blanketed over the leaves. Towering trees loomed and covered the black sky. He gasped when he found Princess Jisoo. She was terrified and had the right to be since she was about to become wolf dinner. Quickly, Hanbin loaded his bow and shot the wolf. With a howl, the wolf fell to its side, dead. Jisoo’s terry eyes met Hanbin’s as he cautiously bent down to meet her eyes.
“Thank you” she whispered, quickly embracing her saviour. Emotions she had held for so long vented out in tears on Hanbin’s amour. Hanbin didn’t hesitate to hug her back, gently rubbing her back. Jisoo finally pulled away and wiped her tears. “How did you know I was here?” She asked, her voice hoarse from crying.
“I watched Taehyung murder Seokjin, followed him and deuced that you were here,” Hanbin very willingly replied.
“S-Seokjin oppa is gone,” Jisoo said to Hanbin. “Taehyung is becoming king.”
“No, he will not put our kingdom under threat! We will stop him!” Hanbin denied with a growl, dismissing the horrifying thoughts of the kingdom’s future. He had to stay strong to help the weak princess toughen up and fight, fight for her kingdom.
“How? I’m just going to hold you back!” Jisoo asked, stress building up inside her.
“There is a way,” Hanbin mumbled. “Yeongwon—the stone of eternity.”

Jisoo wasn’t the perfect princess. She was clumsy, a little sarcastic and tardy, which was highly disapproved by her mother and father. She never liked the princess life since it restricted and controlled her so much—and it wasn’t just the corset.
There was a soft knock on Jisoo’s bedroom door and Jisoo allowed the knocker in with a smile. The palace advisor, Park Chaeyoung, peered through the door and bowed at Jisoo. She was a pale blonde in a tight dress similar to Jisoo’s.
“Good afternoon, Princess Jisoo, I came here to tell you that the king and queen are requesting you to go to the Throne Room,” Chaeyoung informed, bowing as she left. Jisoo acknowledged her information with a curt nod. She knew that Chaeyoung knew of her hate toward royal life, so she let the curtness of her nod slide.
Jisoo scurried down the hall, her corset slowing her as she did. Suddenly, she crashed into someone, causing Jisoo to fall on the ground.
“Your Highness! My humble apologises!” The voice exclaimed, offering her a hand to help her up. Jisoo gratefully took the handsome man’s hand and heaved herself up. She brushed the back of her dress annoyed, shocking the handsome man in front of her.
“There’s no need to apologise, it was my fault for not looking where I was going,” Jisoo reassured.
“But your highness! Even if it’s your fault, I should apologise for getting in your way!” The man exclaimed again.
“Please, just accept my apology...” Jisoo trailed off, awaiting the man to tell her his name.
“Hanbin, Kim Hanbin,” The knight introduced with a polite bow. Jisoo bower back, yet again shocking Hanbin. “May I admit something, Your Highness?” He requested.
“Please, call me Jisoo,” Jisoo replied, feeling uncomfortable with the title ‘your highness’. Despite hearing it countless times, the title sounded so unnatural coming from Hanbin.
“You’re rather”—he paused for a moment to think of the right word—“un-princess-like for a princess.” He admitted.
“I’ll be honest, I never li–“
“Princess Jisoo! What is taking you so long?” Chaeyoung interrupted, approaching Jisoo with an angry expression. Jisoo mouthed a quick goodbye to Hanbin before actually heading to the Throne Room.
“Ah, Jisoo-ah, you made it,” Seokjin chuckled, watching his younger sister stand in between him and Taehyung.
“Oppa, don’t joke. I’m five minutes late and mother and father are rather annoyed,” Jisoo deadpanned.
“Jisoo, that is no way to speak to your brother!” The Queen admonished.
“Honey, calm down,” the King reassured. “Children, your mother and I are going to go on a boat trip. Seokjin, you are in charge of the kingdom for a few weeks and Jisoo and Taehyung, I expect the two of you to be on your best behaviour, understand?” The King explained.
“Yes, father.” The children chorused, eager for their parents to leave. Jisoo in particular was excited for her parents to go on the trip since it meant that she could do as she pleases as long as Chaeyoung isn’t there. Jisoo never admitted it, but Chaeyoung was annoying when her parents left. She kept a hawk eye on Jisoo, ensuring that she didn’t cause the trouble Jisoo so desperately wanted to cause.
A WEEK LATER
Everything was running smoothly. Seokjin was ruling fairly—and Jisoo never dared to say it aloud, but he was doing a better job than her father—and she and Taehyung were having fun together. They would go out to the village and talk to the kids and villagers, buy some of the fresh bread from the bakery that their parents forbade then to eat from (they feared food poisoning) and have a go at farming. Taehyung also hated the royal life. Especially as the maknae of his siblings.
One day, the Kim siblings were summoned to the Throne Room by Chaeyoung again. Chaeyoung wanted to expose Jisoo for her escape from the palace, but her parents never told her to watch over them. Normally, if they didn’t want her to watch over then they wouldn’t tell her anything. Chaeyoung simply watched her be friendly with the villagers from the palace windows, with a sour expression.
“Chaeyoung, what is it?” Jisoo asked worriedly after seeing Chaeyoung’s saddened expression.
“I just received word that...” Chaeyoung trailed off, unable to bring herself to say it. “Your parents...passed away in a boat accident.” She announced. Tears brimmed Jisoo’s chocolate eyes as she let the truth sink in. She fell onto her knees and cried freely, a despressed Seokjin flying to her side. Taehyung stood there in shock, unable to process the news.
“Doesn’t this mean that Seokjin hyung will be the new king?” Taehyung asked. The three siblings fell silent, Seokjin most shocked out of them.
“As the new king, I will announce the news to the kingdom,” Seokjin decided, standing up with a firm expression. “With my siblings by my side.” He added, flashing a small smile at Taehyung and Jisoo. Jisoo wiped the last of her tears and stood again, her hands balled into fists. The only one remotely happy about this was Taehyung, a plan forming in his dark mind.
LATER THAT DAY
Seokjin had just announced the death of their parents along with the fact he was to be king. Taehyung was unwilling, but it didn’t show.
As Jisoo sulked down the hallways, she bumped into someone again. She couldn’t see who it was since she hung her head low, memories of her parents flooding to her mind. Even though they were strict, she still loved them to death and would do anything they wished. She felt so empty without them.
“Jisoo? How are you feeling?” A familiar voice asked. Jisoo shot her head up and a small smile creeped up her features when she saw the handsome Hanbin.
“Terrible, I feel terrible,” she admitted, a tear flowing down her cheek again. Hanbin gingerly wiped away her tears and held her shoulders, forcing her to look up.
“Jisoo, your parents wouldn’t want their princess to cry too much over their death. They would want her to continue their legacy,” he reassured, motivating Jisoo. Jisoo acknowledged his advice and mumbled her thanks, taking in deep calming breaths.
Meanwhile, Taehyung sat in his room with a scowl. At that moment, Chaeyoung entered the room and sat next to Taehyung.
“Your highness, what’s wrong?” She asked gently. She liked Taehyung since he was the least annoying out of the three royal children.
“I want to be king! Not that blasted Seokjin hyung!” Taehyung admitted angrily, throwing a pillow on the ground.
“Your highness, there is a way for you to become king,” Chaeyoung told him. Taehyung froze and faced her, an expectant expression on his face. “The same way Seokjin became king: kill the current king.”
“You’re right!” Taehyung exclaimed. “I’m going to kill Seokjin hyung!”
