The love story between William and Cassidy burned brightest in their youth. They met in college and connected instantly, spending the next few years building a life together. In that time, they had three children and lived a kind of restless joy - traveling, following their favorite bands, and waking up in unfamiliar cities along the West Coast. But that life didn’t last. As adulthood settled in and bills began to pile up, tension replaced ease. Arguments became constant, and eventually the marriage collapsed under its own weight. For Liam, their son, the small beachside town was once just an occasional escape from city life. After his parents’ divorce, it became something more. He began spending holidays and long breaks there with his father - an unfamiliar but welcome contrast to the noise of the city, even if his siblings didn’t share the same sentiment. Aurora Bay College was one of the schools Liam applied to. Though he was accepted elsewhere - places considered more prestigious - he ultimately chose Aurora Bay to stay closer to his father. It felt like a chance to put down roots, to reconnect with family, and to hold on to the small circle of friends he had begun to build there. Over time, his siblings drifted further away from the town, making his choice feel even more necessary. Though he still traveled back and forth to visit his mother and siblings in the city, Aurora Bay slowly became home. Life unfolded there: he loved, he lost, became a father himself, and eventually opened his own brewery with the support of his family. They invested heavily in his dream, and he hoped it would become something lasting - something he could one day pass down to his children, rather than watch become a burden.

Bridget had seen it often enough over the years to recognise it instantly: the lingering glance, the flicker of uncertainty, the quiet debate over whether or not to come over. When they eventually did, she set her glass aside with a resigned smile. “If you’ve come over here for a photograph,” she began, “then I’m afraid I’m going to have to disappoint you.”

"Sorry -no, I wasn't gonna ask for a picture." Liam said, apologetically. He had initially hesitated to approach the woman because he wasn't completely sure whether she had indeed been the movie actress. Coincidentally, he'd recently rewatched one of her films. He didn't expect to be running into her at the Aurora Bay carvinal -of all places. He would've continued on his way had he not been caught staring for far too long.

Whenever he wasn't busy in his office, Liam would join his employees on the front-end, servicing and socializing with the customers. It helped the day run smoother, but also helped him get to know the clientele better. As he glanced over to greet the person that approached the bar, he found himself taken aback when his eyes locked with Priya.

"Hey," he finally found the words to speak. "Can I get you anything?"

"This is probably silly, but I've been thinking about going on a short road trip in July. Like just up the coast and see a few places like Portland and Seattle. Have you ever been to either place? Do you have any suggestions on where to go?" Holland hadn't left Aurora Bay in a while and she had a little bit saved up to do something kind of fun this summer.

"Well, that all depends on your idea of fun." Liam said with a slight shrug. "The last time I went to Portland, I visited the Japanese Garden. It's really something else. And of course, you have to go to Powell's City of Books. Even if you're not an avid reader, it's an experience. When I go to Seattle and Portland is mostly business related, but I try to do some tourist-y things when I'm there if I can."

"Okay, you weren't kidding, that was a lot" Colton chuckled setting the last of the stuff down. He eyed the other. "Were you seriously planning to do all the heavy lifting alone?"

"Well, I didn't wanna anyone on their day off." Liam replied as he looked at Colton. The brewery was closed Mondays and Tuesdays because it cost more to have in opened during their slower days. He would usually ask for things to get delivered when staff was around so they could help him organize it before opening for business. "I guess I should be happy that they delivered early. Usually they run a day or two late."

"To be completely honest, I think I'd rather take my chances with an alien." Liam said after weighing his options. "When I think of dinasours, I automatically think of T-Rex and other carnivorous reptiles. The alien might be lost and in need of direction."

It's about an hour before opening when Fletcher finds himself crouched beside one of the fermentation tanks, under which a small puddle has begun to spread on the concrete flooring of the room. He rubs the back of his neck once his eyes sought out the damp spot in the fitting near the bottom of it.

There is no ignorant hope of it being condensation when he stands up to go wander the manager's office, where the door is cracked open, and Fletch finds Liam.

Just who he is looking for.

"Hypothetical question," he starts, as he leans in. "How worried should I be if one of the tanks has started crying before we've even opened? I'm leaning toward mildly, but you might want to come check it out."

Unless he was on an important phone call, Liam usually left his office door open - cracked just enough for his employees to stop by without feeling like they might be interupting. He was handling some paperwork when Fletcher appeared at the doorway.

"That definitely sounds like something we need to take a look at." The man said, raising from his chair. Checking the tanks was part of his morning routine and everything looked normal when he'd made his rounds earlier that day. He couldn't help but wonder what had happened in the last few hours to cause a disruption like this.

"Is it dripping a lot?"

"I always wanted to be one of those craft beer people, but — and maybe this is just me being uncultured — IPAs taste like fuckin' soap to me." Mavis grabbed a small glass from the flight between her and the person across and slid it over. "Seriously, is that appealing to you? Be honest."

Liam huffed a laugh while sipping his drink, surprised by the honesty and bluntness of her statement. "Okay, I'm gonna try my best to not feel insulted." he said in response. "I mean, for me to get into this sort of business it has to be." He chuckled lightly. As the owner of the Salty Siren, one of the main reasons he got into it was because craft beers was something that he enjoyed. "Do they all taste like soap to you? 'Cause now I'm determined to find you one that you will enjoy."

Raina questioned softly, her hands holding up a bouquet full of colorful flowers. "I'm more of a pastels type of girl, but it's not every day you give a guy flowers, so I'm not quite sure what the rules are in that case."

"We really need to normalize getting us our flowers." Liam said with a smile as he looked at the vibrant bouquet she was holding. "Hm, if you want to be a bit funny with it - get them his least favorite color. Otherwise, go with something you'd like to receive as well. That's usually the safest bet."
