Our children and everything related to it with astrology (pt.1)
I'm writing this post for anyone who wants to become a parent and hopes to gain some insights from astrology. The second part of this post presents a theory that I and other acquaintances who practice astrology use. I hope you enjoy it!
As a first step, we need to look at Ceres, the dwarf planet numbered [1]. Ceres reveals how we care for, nurture, and protect others, especially on an emotional level. The sign it occupies can help us understand our parenting style, while the house it occupies indicates what we seek to nurture in our children's lives.
Those with Ceres in Fire houses or signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius; 1st house, 5th house, 9th house) seek to nurture their children's self-esteem. They teach them to be themselves and to develop their character freely and enjoyably. They are people who don't let their children believe that mistakes define them; they prefer to show them that it's always possible to start over. They want their children to feel comfortable being themselves in front of them. They are expressive, encouraging, and honest.
Those with Ceres in Earth houses or signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn; 2nd house, 6th house, 10th house) are people who value presence and actions more than words. They nurture by being close, keeping their energy accessible to their children, and working hard to give them what they felt was missing in their own lives. They show care and attention by noticing small details, remembering important information, and seeking to provide stability and a figure with whom they feel safe.
Ceres in Air houses or signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius; 3rd house, 7th house, 11th house) actively builds channels of communication with children. They don't just care for them; they want to understand them and for the children to experience a sense of community. They genuinely want a connection with them and the trust to talk about anything. They explore with the children, answer their questions, and encourage them to create, express, and bring their ideas to life. There's a fun and playful touch, allowing them to relax within their parental role.
Those with Ceres in Water houses or signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces; 4th house, 8th house, 12th house) strive to build a lasting emotional bond with their children. They pay attention to mood changes and are very attuned to their children's feelings. They want their children to never feel unsafe expressing themselves. They inspire them to open their hearts, name their emotions, and allow themselves to feel them. They can heal much of their own childhood hurts through this bond with their children, becoming the parents they longed to have.

Secondly, it's crucial to look at our 5th house, which governs our children. The sign there shows us our bond with them, while the planets or the ruling planet give us insight into their personalities.
- If you have a single planet in the 5th house, that represents your first child. We can explore their personality and temperament. If you wish to have more than one child, we can examine the planets that follow.
(In this example, Pisces in the 5th house would be the significator of the first child. The planet immediately following that would symbolize the second. Saturn is in Aries in the 6th house. This planet would represent the second child.)
If we have a stellium in the 5th house and only one child, that child may have a lot of energy from the sign in which the stellium occurs. Whereas if we have several children, each planet in the stellium may represent one child.
If you want to have children and don't have any planets in the 5th house, there's no reason to worry, as you can explore the ruling planet.
(In this chart, the 5th house is empty and in Taurus. Its ruling planet, Venus, is in Gemini and in the 6th house; this would represent the first child. Mars, being immediately adjacent, would represent the second child and their qualities. And if a third child is desired, this would be represented by Mercury in Cancer, as it is the next in the sequence.)

For this section, I'll leave you with a list of what it would mean if the children were represented by which planet and their main qualities:
- Sun: Cheerful, active, and very creative. Although sociable, from a very young age they may prefer to do things on their own. They will like the spotlight, seek recognition, and be ambitious from childhood. They can be affectionate and very expressive with those close to them. They may tend to be stubborn. They may be drawn to many different hobbies. They may resemble their father or be close to him.
- Moon: Introverted, they will prefer to be at home and with people they know. Sensitive, expressive with their feelings… but only with close friends and family. Tendency to be moody. Closer to or more similar to their mother. Intuitive and caring towards others. They can read other people's emotions very well. Inclination towards quiet, home-based activities.
- Mercury: A very curious child, they will talk a lot and be interested in many things. They can be very good academically and learn very quickly. Witty and very funny. Skilled in different areas. With a tendency to be restless and/or easily distracted. If they have siblings, they will gravitate towards them and seek to participate in activities that include them all.
- Venus: Socially charming, they can evoke a lot of tenderness in people. Affectionate, calm, and charismatic. They may tend to be somewhat spoiled. They don't like confrontation, getting into trouble, or tense environments. They feel happy when those they love are comfortable and together. They need ample demonstrations of affection.
- Mars: Very active, somewhat restless children who want to learn to do things on their own. They can be quick to anger and somewhat impatient. Spontaneous, enthusiastic, and bold. They will be direct with their questions. They will like to learn through experience, go on adventures, and go out frequently.
- Jupiter: Naturally positive, they evoke joy and can be very friendly. They don't like to feel too restricted. They prefer to be accompanied in learning and discovery. Their curiosity is more focused on big questions, from a young age. They can attract and have a lot of luck and are highly appreciated by those around them. Kind and naturally inclined to help others.
- Saturn: They tend to be a bit quieter. Intelligent and observant. They need established routines and order. They can get stressed by chaos and a lack of order. They tend to be perfectionists, so it's crucial to guide them in a way that doesn't paralyze them. They can have old-soul vibes and be very insightful. Naturally responsible, ambitious, and focused.
- Uranus: Independent, they act authentically and can be very inventive. They can excel in a specific area. Academically intelligent, they don't learn in the conventional way. They get bored easily, so they need varied activities. They don't follow orders unless they are given a clear reason for them to exist in the first place, which can sometimes make them seem rebellious.
- Neptune: Highly sensitive to their surroundings, naturally empathetic, and very imaginative. They are daydreamers, creative, and perceptive of others' emotions and changes. They tend to be very gentle. They need the presence of parents who interact with their inner world to feel understood. Compassionate and sweet with other children.
- Pluto: They are very emotionally deep and feel things very intensely. They are very loyal to their close ones and those who earn their trust. From a young age, they have an intuition that allows them to read and see through people. They may need alone time more often than other children. They don't reveal their feelings easily to strangers and take their time to trust.
For this phase, we can use the derivative house system to analyze family life from the child's perspective.
Your 5th house = Their 1st house | Your 6th house = Their 2nd house
Your 7th house = Their 3rd house | Your 7th house = Their 4th house
And so on. Here's a picture:
Your 5th house represents your children's personalities.
Your 6th house gives us insight about what you give them to make them feel secure.
Your 7th house shows what they learn from you and how does your daily interactions look like.
Your 8th house shows how your children perceive their family life and home. It also reveals what they perceive as a source of emotional comfort.

Your 1st house can give us hints about how your children experience the world, the philosophies they may be attracted to, and the lessons they will teach you.
Your 2nd house is their 10th house, showing the reputation they can develop. As they grow older, we'll be able to see their career aspirations through this house. Goals that are very meaningful to them.
Your 3rd house represents the groups they belong to, their friends, aspirations, and where their altruism is directed.
