In our 100+ Frightful Friday selections there has been one notable author missing—Oliver Onions, one of the true grandmaster of the English ghost story. Onions wrote five volumes of ghost stories throughout his life that included such classics as “The Rosewood Door”, “The Beckoning Fair One”, and today’s chilling tale, “The Cigarette Case”, in which the titular object leads the story’s narrator to recount an eerie evening spent in the French countryside.
