Mia had been having a wonderful time with Nate and all of his friends, getting to know them in a way that she hadnât before. In the past all she ever would have been to Nate or any of his friends was Dannyâs little sister. She was sure it was different now, now she was also Nateâs friend. She liked this development, this new thing that her and Nate had. Of course she had always dreamt of there being more to it, had been dreaming of it for years and since the first time she had actually met Nate, but she had come to the realization a long time ago that, that wouldnât be happening for them. Even if she was Nateâs friend now as well, she was and always would be his best friendâs little sister as well. She didnât know how wrong she really was about all of that either. âOh, she did?â she asked, brows going up a little in surprise then laughing at what Nate said next, giving his arm a playful, little push. âGood to know youâre asking people who only just met me about me, Nate,â she joked and shook her head at him. âNot like youâve known me practically all my life,â Mia continued with a laugh, rolling her eyes fondly. She bit her lip lightly around a smile at his words. No, she couldnât let herself fall down that hole again. She knew that Nate didnât mean this as an actual date, she was there because sheâd always be in Nateâs life and that was better for the pictures than some random chick on his arm. âWell, Iâm glad she likes me. I liked her too, everyone, honestly. And I- I really enjoyed tonight,â she told him honestly. She rolled her eyes at him again and shook her head. âOh please, as if I could make a dent on you,â she laughed at his dramatic words. Her brows furrowed at his questions and laughed again, shaking her head at the man. âWith the bride?â she replied, motioning back towards where they had just come from. âYou know, who we were just talking about,â Mia teased. âWhatâs got you so lost, hmm?â
Tonight had been more than he had thought it would be and he didnât quite know if that was a good thing or a bad thing. On the one hand it confirmed for him that it wasnât just simple attraction he was feeling for her and that he wasnât just thinking with his dick. That realisation however brought on a heap of issues in itself. She was Dannyâs little sister. His best friend would murder him. No doubt about that. Even though Nate knew all that, he found himself caring less and less about that. âSheâs a good judge of character. I couldnât pass up the opportunity.â He joked back, his tone light as a smirk was playing at his lips. She had a nice laugh too. It wasnât something he consciously realised until right now. Mia was right, he had known her practically her entire life, his too. She had been a constant in his life since sheâd been born, Dannyâs and her mom always made them take her with them due to little Miaâs complaints about being left behind. He had taken part in one too many tea parties as a child. âThey liked you too.â She fit right in with them, he had been surprised by just how easily she did, actually. Then again, he hadnât met anyone that didnât like her so maybe he shouldnât have been that surprised. Nate sighed, his hand rubbing on the âsoreâ spot her hit had created. âI already feel a bruise coming.â He was about to suggest her nursing him back to health when he stopped himself, his thoughts going into dangerous territory. Nate ran a hand through his hair, her voice bringing him back to reality. âThe bride. Yeah. Right. Sorry.â So overplaying that hadnât worked as well as he had hoped. âOh itâs nothing. Donât worry about it. Do you.. do you wanna come in?âÂ
