i thought it was high time that i made an intro post just so people who wanna block me, can block me right off the bat 😊

so, uh, hi i'm ri, i'm in my early 20s and i was born in the boston area until my family moved away and i got back into hockey (and therefore hrpf) last spring 😊

Which means that I'm a HUGE Bruins fan (thereby hating half the league) and a really big Flyers fan (thereby hating the OTHER half of the league 😂)

i also have a bunch of blorbos on so many different teams but that doesn't mean i necessarily like that team, i couldn't care less about how they do, as long as my boys have a good night (I am extraordinarily fond of the 2015 draft class so you can extrapolate from that 🤷🏾‍♀️)😂

i have a long list of ships that i love and some of them are very controversial, it is what it is 🤷🏽‍♀️. i truly do believe in the separation of church (hrpf) and state (real life). i also maintain the fourth wall with my life and therefore ain't no player i read or write about will ever going to see SHIT from me which means i don't support them or their actions 😊

now that, that is out of the way, i love to yap my ass off, come up with some wild-ass shit plots for my ships, so please feel free to dm me, send me asks or even just come into the comments of my posts and talk to me! 😊

for, 🍄 i would have to say: trevor + the two most adorablest kiddos you'll ever see + the league's long-standing question of who exactly fathered his children = trevor coming to terms with the fact that after almost eight years he has to finally stop running and face the music 😉😂

and, for 🌍: i would say, without giving too much away, probably: early in the 2033-2034 NHL Season; Original Male Child Character; Original Female Child Character; Established Travis Konecny/ Nolan Patrick; Established Danny Briere/ Claude Giroux; Trevor extensively worries about his children and if he's a Good Dad (spoiler alert: He really is!); Trevor POV (which means he's as dumb as a bag of rocks). as much as I would love to say more, it might just ruin the fic, but rest assured it will have all the necessary tags 😊

When the Philadelphia Flyers suddenly need a new power-play coach after their last one was unceremoniously fired, General Manager Jamie Drysdale has no choice but to cave in to the demands of the board and hire the one person who might be the only person crazy enough to revitalize the steadily declining power-play and help the team get back to their once-winning ways. He hasn't spoken to Trevor Zegras since the older man stormed out of the locker room after another early playoff exit (and, unbeknownst to anyone else, the unpleasant ending of a casual friends-with-benefits arrangement a few weeks before) over a decade ago. Trevor Zegras hasn't set foot in Philly in a few years; between his old job as Game Analyst for TNT and his futile efforts to hold onto a marriage that should've ended just as fast as it started, he hasn't been too inclined to revisit the past. But even he isn't immune to a poorly disguised plea in the form of a "hey, how are you, man?" phone call from the hardest person he's ever had to walk away from, and a firm reminder from one of the best GM's he's ever played under about how he owes it to the city for taking him under her wing. Half the city is waiting to see the old friends reunite to lead the city back to her glory days; the other half is dubious if this is even going to work. and all of their old teammates? oh, they're all waiting nearby with fire extinguishers for when this all inevitably crashes and burns.

imagine this, but from the pov of a rookie who was called up for the playoffs last year and now is starting his first full season with the Flyers; he has no idea how the team environment has changed so much in the span of a summer, and honestly, he's a little scared to ask the vets. all he knows is that the once best friends can barely seem to meet each other's eyes and they are barely seen to be in a room together without at least half of the coaching staff and front office in between them.

Everyone loves Dan Muse bc he's the coach that led the Penguins on their crazy run to the playoffs last season and everything but no matter how much the players talk about him, I genuinely dislike this man so bad because the quote "A month passed before Muse and his staff determine that the players had earned their right to the dressing room" about 16-18 year old children in the USNDTP never leaves my brain.

reminder for all hockey fans:

netflix is making a hockey show called "the sticks" that is based on a very real tragedy that occured in canada in 2018.

the show follows a minnesota high school team after their bus crashes and coming back to hockey afterwards.

in 2018, the humboldt broncos' (a junior A team made up of 18-22 year olds) bus was hit by a tractor trailer on a highway intersection. 16 people (10 players, 2 coaches, and 4 team staff members) were killed, along with 13 other players severely injured.

the memory of the humboldt broncos crash is an incredibly sensitive subject carrying a lot of trauma to both the survivors, their families, and deceased's families. the trajectory of hockey in canada was changed significantly after this tragedy.

despite this, netflix has decided to make a show using the death of young hockey players for profit. they did not consult the survivors, nor the deceased's families. they stole a canadian story for a feel-good cash grab.

i understand wanting to watch shows about hockey, but this is not the show to watch. do not give it attention, as the humboldt broncos' memories deserve to be theirs and theirs alone to share.

WIP WEDNESDAY 🎉

she's a bit late i know, but i have been thinking about her (in between stressing about how much i procrastinate 😭)

Once the last of the suds has been washed off his body and is down the drain, he grabs his towel as he turns the water off and wraps his towel around his waist as he walks back outside, ducking around a few stragglers to make it to his locker and pull on some sweats and a hoodie. After making sure he's got his keys in his pocket along with his phone and earbuds, he makes his way to an exhausted-looking TK and Nolan, who are surrounded by their barely awake children. Once he makes sure that both ***'s diaper bag and ****'s little backpack are in the stroller, he hugs TK and obnoxiously smacks a kiss onto Nolan's cheek before picking up ****, rocking him as he burrows his face into Trevor's neck, seemingly content to doze while Trevor pushes the stroller with his free hand. After nudging **** to wave goodbye to everyone and reassuring him he'll see them all soon, especially ****** and ******— as he does still have school on Monday, which gets a grumble and a chuckle from Trevor, who reminds him that he still hasn't even made it to kindergarten yet. There's still a lot of staff wandering around, working, and Trevor smiles at each of them, apologetic as he smiles at the people he usually tries to at least have a small conversation with after every game, but ****'s heavy and he just wants to get home asap. By the time they exit the building and enter the chilly parking garage, Trevor's hurriedly rushing to where he's parked the car, crossing his fingers that whoever parked next to him has left so he has ample space to get both kids into their car seats.

you've seen the jokes. india is "dirty", indians are "everywhere", why don't they fix their own country. ok. let me tell you why, and what's happening right now while nobody's watching.

first, the history you skipped: britain ruled india for two centuries and drained it. economist utsa patnaik's research estimates around $45 trillion in today's money was taken. the india that got independence in 1947 was one of the poorest countries on earth. every "why is india like this" question starts there. you don't get to profit off a robbery and then mock the crime scene.

now, what's happening RIGHT NOW:

in may the question paper for NEET leaked. that's the national medical entrance exam. over 2.2 million students took it. cancelled. years of studying, families' savings poured into coaching, gone overnight because someone sold the paper. students died by suicide after. these were kids who wanted to be doctors.

and out of that came a protest movement. a gen z group called the cockroach janta party, started by a 30 year old named abhijeet dipke, got 22 million instagram followers within DAYS. they've been doing a sit-in at jantar mantar in delhi demanding education minister dharmendra pradhan resign.

and then there's sonam wangchuk. if you've watched 3 idiots, he's the real engineer the character was based on. built solar schools in ladakh. invented ice stupas so himalayan villages have water. spent his whole life on education. he's 59 and he's been on hunger strike for 17+ days now. reporters went to see him this week and he was too weak to talk. and the troll armies are calling him "anti national" and "foreign funded". a man starving himself for other people's children. that's the thing here, anyone who asks a question is suddenly a traitor.

it's not one incident, it's everywhere you look:

• infrastructure worth thousands of crores failing within months of the ribbon cutting. tunnels collapsing in regions where heavy rain is a guarantee, not a surprise.

• youth unemployment near 10% for ages 15 to 29, 13.6% in cities. in a country of 1.42 billion where more than half the population is young.

• only about the top 3% of indians earn above 10 lakh a year. meanwhile billionaire wealth keeps ballooning and the headlines celebrate it.

• manipur burned for over two years. an ethnic conflict, tens of thousands displaced, and the prime minister barely said the word manipur while it happened.

• journalists raided. critics' houses bulldozed. activists sitting in jail for years without trial under laws like UAPA. our press freedom ranking has cratered.

• even the petrol is a fight now, ethanol blending pushed through while drivers complain about their engines and get no straight answers.

and through all of it, the PM, who came to power on religious polarisation (americans, sound familiar?), travels abroad for photo ops and has not held one single open press conference in over a decade. not one.

what i'm asking:

if you're not indian: share this. our media mostly won't cover any of it because the big outlets are owned by the same billionaires the government serves. the only reason wangchuk's fast is getting any coverage is people refusing to look away.

if you ARE indian: speak up even if you're comfortable. especially if you're comfortable. join the protests. add to this, correct me, translate it. staying quiet is a choice when nothing in this post touches your life.

india is not "dirty". india was robbed, and it's being robbed again, from the inside this time. but it's also the country where a 59 year old will starve for strangers' kids and 22 million young people will rally behind a party literally named after cockroaches, because cockroaches survive everything.

we can still save her. but only loudly.
