CARRD.
oh, also, something i CAN easily make a poll about that will help me:
how do you know lana, primarily?
dc comics / novelizations
smallville
superman & lois
dcau
superman 3??? (i'm sorry, if so)
laurel did this to me

i am really glad i asked because, well. i did very much think i was playing to a comics-heavy crowd here 😭
keep voting, you've still got a couple hours!
okay, nobody look at my carrd, she's getting gutted 🫡
going to sleep for a while, but i am still not satisfied— it’s functional if you need it, but i’d still rather you not look if you don’t 🫶
nah, i can't call lana the 'mom friend'. she's more like a benevolent aunt who makes sure you're taken care of and gives incredibly thoughtful gifts, but who is so, so glad she doesn't have to bring you home with her.
(if she actually is your aunt, she can be YOUR mom friend.)
what flower used in Victorian flower language are you?
DANDELION: "I WOULD NOT HAVE YOU OTHERWISE." You are the mom friend, your bag is full of everything for any possible situation every time you leave your house. Your friends know they can talk to you and that you will accept them and love them for who they are, not some idea of how you think they should be. You have amazing taste in food and are constantly baking things and gifting them to others. At some point, you tried some style of journaling, and it’s about a 50/50 chance that you kept up with it. Your ideal home smells of comfort foods and has tons of windows so that it’s always filled with natural light. Everyone you care about gets a key to your door and blanket permission to stop by any time. Part of the reason you care so much for others is because you think you’re broken and are trying to make up for it. You are not broken, and you are not whole. You are a person, and people are messy and complicated. There’s no need to chase after a redemption arc, you are trying so hard and that’s all that matters. Take some of the grace you offer to others and apply it to yourself.
TAGGED BY: i stole it from @alleyspat, and this is the second quiz in a week-ish to break my heart by calling lana a dandelion? somehow?

i keep trying to make a poll about it, but i can never decide how to best word things, so:
when you're reading a character's carrd, do you prefer it to be more biography- or more personality-focused? or, more broadly: what are your content preferences, generally? what do you love? what do you hate? what's helpful? what seems superfluous?
(i know if i ask if i should overhaul in xyz ways, most of you will say "do whatever feels right!", which is sweet, but trust me: if i knew, i would.)
Something wrong with Jordan? He blew me off. Again.
SUPERMAN & LOIS 2.03 ♢ The Thing in the Mines
there's a world of people out there. they need us. [ ... ] when you're ready to do something about that, you let me know. oliver queen of dc comics & wb's smallville series, written by oz. a mixed media portrayal. private, selective, and mutuals only. personals & minors dni.
i am finally capping space milk/shake after forgetting it existed for like, a decade, and it is actually great for Comics Lana... i mean, she always has an engineering degree if she's still in dc, but i don't usually let her dress like she is in a comic. but i should. once.
look at how cute she is, also 😞
the kids are not alright at all. everyone is reblogging that fucking post
did perfectionism ever truly protect you from harm or neglect as a child though. ultimately. Lol
[REALLY NORMAL AND WELL-ADJUSTED VOICE] well you never know maybe it COULD have saved me. if i ever actually achieved perfection. it could have happened then. if i was actually ever enough. Which i was not
the first major tipoff in s&l that Wow, These People Really Loved Smallv/ille is how when lana decides they have to get rid of their terrible mayor, her first impulse is not to run, but rather to convince some other guy to run, and to then micromanage his entire campaign to the point where the whole town is like, "she might as well just do it herself". it is SO funny.
hey. i'm in the archives looking for something and this is still. deeply resonant
a shiver runs less than a second behind lana's fingertips. even if lana could miss feeling it, from this close, she'll see the frisson lighting up her bones. violet bioluminescence rippling, then fading again.
this time she doesn't laugh. it's so ingrained in her to trust what lana says that she has to struggle, and not lightly, with her reflexive disbelief. it's an alien bug. in her spine. mangling her in ways that don't naturally exist on earth.
but khaji ren's pleasure at being included flushes her, head to toe. or maybe it's her own. they're both arrested by her. both feeling... real.
"i think you may be the weird one."
alice turns her face, kisses lana's palm fervently. an unspoken remark on scars.
"thank god for that." and she's smiling again, taking lana's hand to trace a spiral around and around. "sorry, thank science and evolution. and you."
"i've been called worse." weird isn't a word that would come to mind, enthralled as she is by the violet light. angelic is more like it ⸺ angelic in a way that means something to her, though. "i never thought that you could get any prettier." lana is so painfully earnest, her own face might come close to matching.
if it isn't, when she speaks, that certainly changes when alice kisses her hand.
she forgets, sometimes, what her palm looks like: she's rehabilitated it that well, by now. she's regained more function than the doctors had expected her to. it's only people's kindness that ever makes her feel so aware.
she doesn't flinch: she keeps her grip loose, doesn't panic. doesn't apologize.
"i can't feel most of the pinky side." is it obvious lana's grown accustomed to explaining impalement in practical terms to small children? anyway, she wants her to know. just in case ⸺ well, just in case.
"i'm okay with your god." there's a single huff of laughter, almost disbelieving. "as long as he stays in his own house."
(i AM going to write you guys those starters, come hell or high water, i did not forget. but. brains...)
