Anaesthesia

** Fanfic based on spoilers of episode 3 of Obi-Wan Kenobi show**

BEWARE

`Give him some painkillers or anaesthesia, you can't have him suffering so much!!!', begged Breha, Queen of Alderaan.

`He's refusing, your Highness. His body is battling it as if it was poison... through the force', said the doctor of the palace.

'But.. Lord.. Bail, I can't see him like this... and we don't know where's Leia.. please, we got to do something', she begged to his husband.

Bail looked away from his friend and wounded jedi. He closed his eyes and took his wife's hand, caressing it softly.

'My love, she'll be okay. She's strong, fierce, smart and they are looking for her. And he... just let him be', he said as he sat again.

Breha shook her head, cursing the Empire, cursing the Jedis and cursing Anakin Skywalker silently and not for the first time in her life.

'Anakin...', whispered a pained and exhausted voice next to them, 'Forgive me..'

'I can't believe it..', she mumbled as she looked at the defeated jedi. He was groaning in his sleep, moaning from pain and calling for his former padawan, begging him for forgiveness.

Breha Organa left the room, not daring to look back as Obi-Wan whispered Leia's name this time.

24 hours later.

'I thought to love was forbidden to Jedis', stated a voice above him.

Obi-Wan groaned in pain, again. He couldn't stand the light of the healing room they had put him in. He couldn't stand the mere thought of being alive.

'Master... Give me strenght', he prayed to the Force.

'I thought jedis were meant to let go of their attachments and their losses', stated the voice of Breha Organa above him, 'And yet, you're the person who I've seen suffer more than anyone else since the fall of Anakin Skywalker and the creation of the Empire'

He felt as if he was floating, they have probably injected him some painkillers when his body couldn't take the pain. He didn't want to.

He needed to feel the pain.

He needed to feel what Anakin felt.

He neeed to be punished for failing him.

For failing Leia.

He was failing all over again.

'Rest, Obi-Wan... sleep, for we will find Leia. Everything will be okay', whispered her gentle voice as he noticed some anaesthesia in his body.

He trembled, feeling once more the presence of Vader far away.

'Obi-Wan! Obi! Look! We're synchronised!

A 13 year old Anakin Skywalker was thrilled to see he was doing his kata at the same time as his master, both moving as if they were two halves of the same soul.

'Yes, you've done it!', he laughed as they both continued moving at the same time, feeling the force dancing around them.

He smiled widely while his padawan continued laughing and doing the kata.

'Anakin...'

'He's delirious, Bail. He got a fever, I fear his burns are infected', said the doctor.

Bail nodded and sat silently, once more, next to his friend.

Obi-Wan looked at his left, seeing someone who was clearly not there.

He shook his head.

So much suffering in the name of love.

So much suffering in the name of power.

After all, wasn't it the same thing?

Padme Amidala looked exactly the same as the day she passed.

She smiled kindly at him and then she looked to the other side of the room, extending her hand, hoping for someone to catch it.

To Obi-Wan's suprise and delight, two beautiful and funny kids came running inside his room followed by their caring father, a long haired, smiley, Anakin.

Padme opened her arms laughing, catching Leia in her ams, swinging her while the little girl laughed. Anakin stood close to them, holding Luke in his arms.

Then, Padme turned once more and looked at his bed, extending her hand once more.

'Uncle Ben', shouted Leia.

Then, as sudden their presence has appeared, the happy family started to fade away.

'No.. please...', he mumbled as he saw Anakin's figure disappeared last, giving him one last look.

'Why.?' he whispered as he tried to catch him with his hand.

He felt, once more, how the doctor injected him with anaesthesia.

He begged the Force to let him sleep forever, to never wake up again.

HE WAS HALLUCINATING ANAKIN. FUCK ME UP KENOBI SHOW

THIS FUCKING BROKE ME, because Obi-Wan isn’t prone to hallucinations, like okay maybe he has finally so stressed that he cracked under the pressure, but I don’t think so, because we don’t really see any other indications of it, but instead we do see that these two sense each other through the Force, that the MINUTE Obi-Wan uses the Force again, Vader’s eyes snap open and they feel each other. We see later in this episode, Obi-Wan is hit with a tidal wave of a psychic onslaught when he sense Vader. The camera tilts and wobbles and the music vibrates in a way that makes you feel underwater in both scenes. They feel the same. These two people are connected through the Force, we know they always will be, that Vader will sense Obi-Wan on the Death Star, and I think he’s sensing Obi-Wan here as well, just as Obi-Wan is seeing him. But what is destroying me is that Obi-Wan sees him as he knows Anakin, the unburned version, the one who stands with his arms wrapped tightly around his middle, in almost a vulnerable sort of way. The one whose cloak is almost too big for his frame, the one who would fiddle with the giant sleeves of his robes when he was nervous, the one who huddles in them like a shield. The way Obi-Wan remembers him. The way that some core part of Darth Vader still remembers himself as, especially when connecting with Obi-Wan. He’s so full of hate and rage that he cannot admit to this part of himself, whatever good is in him at when he feels Obi-Wan, he can’t admit to it because Obi-Wan is the part of himself that he wants to kill off, Hayden has said that probably half a dozen times in interviews, that he wants to destroy Obi-Wan because he wants to destroy that part of himself. And this is what he wants to destroy. The part of himself that is vulnerable and lonely and not the terrifying murder cyborg, the part that Obi-Wan Kenobi sees, the part that Anakin will always remember so long as Obi-Wan is alive and has hope. Anakin cannot admit to what he’s done, he cannot go back after all of this, Obi-Wan will always know him and what he did, it’s only Luke that can offer him a future that he can accept, because Luke is only the future, not the past, Luke will never see him like this. But this is still the core of who Anakin Skywalker is, the one that Obi-Wan Kenobi sees.
