people have asked me how i draw eyes so i made an extremely slap-dash eye tutorial! this is simply about how i draw a simple neutral eye, nothing to do with expressions (that’s a whole other thing).

start with the horizontal guide on the face, to help place the eyes. put circles where the eyes will go!

adjust the circles into diamond shapes– i got this idea from sinix design on youtube, it’s very helpful and easier to see where the lids should end than with a circle.

draw the top lid/lash lines, leaving a bit of space at the top of the diamond. keep each eye in time with each other– drawing one whole eye first makes it harder to match the other one.

then the bottom lids. i usually try to do all the lid shapes with a single curved stroke each. keep it simple pals!

irises & pupils. sometimes i’ll draw filled-in black circles for the irises, to help figure out where to place them naturally!

lid creases, use the leftover diamond at the top as a loose guide for where to place them. remember that the lid curves around the eyeball.

make adjustments! things don’t always come out perfect immediately. i usually have to thicken the lash line (i like mine quite thick), move the bottom lid up or down, and sometimes resize a whole eye (easier on computer than traditional, i know!). if you’re on a computer make sure to flip your canvas often so you can see these little things ❤

and to practice, just doodle a lot of small eyes! keeping them small makes them easier and faster to finish, so you can focus on your strokes and playing around with shapes, tilt, lid space, all that. don’t worry about making the irises perfect circles/ovals or any of that, just try to capture the character. have fun!

Self care

I have a habit of being ridiculously impulsive, weirdly especially when it comes to my health. One day I'm uncaring, maybe a little fretful that I'm not on certain good habits. The next I want to get on a diet, make sure I brush my teeth everyday---and wash my face.

This time, it was an impulsive start, but I actually have more faith in myself than usual. I have an alarm for five minutes after I wake up, then 10 mins before my usual bedtime to brush my teeth; mom's been making low-carb healthy meals; and I picked a random book I haven't read off my shelf, cause reading helps to clear my mind and take my focus off things---also it might put me back in my earlier writers mood/mode.

Blossom:

The most responsible and logical one to keep her sister out of trouble, but be sometimes overwhelmed when faced with situation she cannot even attempt to put in order. She aims to become an alchemist but has failed a thousand or more times (because unknownst to her, homunculi can not perform alchemy). She reads a lot. In addition to homunculi’s superhuman strength, speed and recovery, her arms sharpen to a incredibly sharp point.

Buttercup:

The troublemaker tomboy who is often found playing and fighting with the boys than the girls. She has a good-heart to make the right, heroic decision most of the time, though her stubbornness sometime plays as her weakness rather than her strength. She is fiercely protective of everyone she loves. Like a dragon.

She is physically the strongest one and can produce an impenetrable armor from her skin (ultimate shield, or aka Greed).

Bubbles:

As the joy and laughter, she is most positive and open-minded of the sisters. She acts on instincts and emotion. Her observation skills are rather excellent, which makes her an excellent team player who can dynamically adjust plans; though her conclusion are 50% correct because of lacking experience, but she can learn. She is the most versatile one with the ability to shapeshift into any animal with practice, including learning speech or enhanced sense while in normal form. Any animal she transform into however will have ouroboros like a cutie mark. Her true form is a octopus-demon chimera form without any shifting, but she defaults to the normal form (b/c its easier to draw)
